you know that weird robin williams movie where he's in a painting or whatever?
yea they basically used that as the plot for the game :)

Cringe ******* video, thought you guys would enjoy it

Literal reddit browsing fucks made this game, well at least now we have a better reason for why the story sucks *** apart from the fact that it was written by a ***** larping as a frenchy.

The game was always a ****** movie turned based rpg that was supposed to look like a game engine demo.

We went from Baldurs Gate 3 being heralded as the future of RPGs and GOTY to now sucking off a glorified walking simulator games with turned based jack off combat.

"30 people created this game. it amazing !" ........ **** off, its a cgi movie with turned based combat a bug could make that. Hell an entire landmass of bug people have been making these types of games for lesser budgets and better for year.

Troika with a team of 32 people made VTMB, one of the most complex and groundbreaking RPGs in about 3 years with immense amount of development struggles. That **** is 10 times the game this new frenchy turd is.

The game looks and feels French, maybe that's why I'm willing to ignore some of the pretentiousness.

The main gripe I have with it is that you can see the anti-escapism aesop coming from a mile away. I'd honestly prefer a game that explores the fight between the Painters and Writers, that sounds more interesting than a game set in a world that turns out to be fake.

Yes, the family drama actually manages to tug on my black, dried out heartstrings on occasion, but the "real" humans are tits, with both of the women in the group being imbeciles, only the man has his head on straight. A+ for realism in that area at least.

The story is this convoluted mess with deep emotions, meaning and ambivalence, yet none of the elements make any sense whatsoever.
I have no desire to go any deeper than that, because who cares really. It's serviceable for a playthrough, and that's good enough for me.
I just hate all the ******* who over-analyze this **** to death and think it's a masterpiece of a story, when there are dozens upon dozens of plot holes and inconsistencies.

The digital one is only marginally better from one aspect: the ugly VA is some lesbian filth who thanks to someone (probably @ArcaneLurker  ) I saw on a stream with her mommy girlfriend. Few things are more disgusting than real lesbians. Even moreso when the older one is the "mom". :yuck: They were just sitting on a couch or something. I don't think I even managed 30 seconds and was looking around for eye bleach. :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

Story in a vidya game is like plot in a porno. You expect it to be there, but it's not important.

I just got to Act 2. Had to laugh when
β–Ί Show Spoiler
Non-story-wise:
- **** beaches, but as challenges for some comedy cosmetics they're totally fine. I almost defeated the volleyball boss at least.
- Maelle is OP, Sciel is strong, Gustave is useful, but I can't manage to make Lune pull her weight, her turns are always off by 1 PA or one missing colour or whatever. I think I need to go find a spongy enemy next to a flag and grind it solo until I find the right combination of skills/lumina/weapons to pull off a decent chain. I haven't used any respec gems yet so I should have plenty of options to try.
- There's a ton of random giant enemies around the overworld that 1HK my whole team, or locations that are marked with a big bad DANGER, presumably signaling I"m underleveled. I wonder how long Act 2 and 3 are, and if I'll be expected to grind to actually tackle those optional challenges (level 23 atm).
- The dodge/parry/whatever system is fine, but it seems like there's a big gap between main-quest-path enemies where you don't really need to parry and barely need to dodge because they hit for like 70dmg, and optional enemies where you can't get hit once or it's an OHK. The exception seem to be the story bosses who are at about the right level - the Master of Lamps did get a couple of my party members down but I still beat both phases on the first try by using some consumables, which feels about right. I'll stick to the main quest for a bit and see if it lands more on the right spot.

For Lune, you should have a weapon that reduces the cost of Fire spells. That's the most useful for early to mid-game.
Pretty sure there's a Picto that gives +1AP for applying Burn.

For late Act 2 and the rest of the game, you can find a weapon that gives one Light Pigment when gaining a Fire Pigment.
When you have that, you got your strategy for the rest of the game :

- WildFire applies Burns, gives you 1 Fire + 1 Light pigment
- Thermal Transfer, gives you 1 water pigment + 1 Light Pigment + 4AP back on burning enemies
- Now that you have 4 Pigments : Elemental Genesis (costs only 4AP) , Extreme damage to all enemies, 8 hits.

Rinse and repeat as needed.

And since you only need these 3 skills, the other 3 can be support (healing, raise the dead, etc)

Started playing a few days ago (up to Act 2):
  • There are far too many blacks in Lumiere. Sure, this is not meant to be a historically accurate game (plus the "diversity" could be justified due to story shenanigans), but it is a bit jarring to see among an otherwise idealized vision of post-Fracture Paris. Thankfully, there are no ******* after the Prologue (so far).
  • Dodge/Parry is a lot easier to land than what I was lead to believe. Jumping and Gradient Parry are also a lot more lenient too.
  • Combat is relatively easy on Expeditioner/Normal. Tints have been an afterthought (specially once Lune had access to Rebirth). Only party-wiped so far on the first few battles (before I got used to the frame differences between parry/dodge), a Chromatic Boss that I mistook for a common enemy and two post-game bosses I wanted to test my current builds with. Overall, the combat is above-average (for a JRPG), mostly due to how much build variation there is.
  • The story is decent so far, there is enough worldbuilding to be interesting.
  • Areas being pretty corridors with low interactivity gets boring after a while (welcome back FFXIII).
  • β–Ί Act 1 Spoilers

A good build for Lune in Act 1/Act 2 is equipping the Trebuchim weapon, (which grants you a random Stain per Free Aim shot) with Electrify (2 Electric Stains for 1 AP) to spam Mayhem. Genesis is not worth building for until you get the appropriate weapons and/or 100% crit rate. Never bothered with Sciel (outside forced segments) because she requires too much setup vs Verso, Lune and Maelle being ready in Turn 1.

And yes, many of those enemies are meant to be late Act 3/post-game content but you can take down a lot of them with the proper setup. Pictos/Lumina Access matters a lot more than actual Levels in this game. You could also just waste a lot of time slowly wittling them away (if you have enough time to waste dodging/parrying forever) but honestly, you should wait until the damage cap is removed in Act 3.

I can tell you right now why *I* think it's pretentious, and I haven't even PLAYED the game or have the slightest idea what's in it: Just listening to people TALK about it is enough to tell me this is a terribly pretentious game because I HAVE NO ******* CLUE WHAT ANY OF THIS **** THEY'RE ON ABOUT IS. I know it is a game, and therefore, I *SHOULD* be able to understand the talk about it, but they've renamed everything with pretentious verbiage so I can't. Any NORMAL game, I can understand what people are talking about with no context, but this is just full of pretentious invented terms. Sure hallmark of a pretentious game. Just say "skills" or "perks" like a NORMAL PERSON.
