Apparently there has been an update to Subnautica with some extra time capsules you can find that have teaser screenshots for the next Subnautica game coming out. Nice idea.

With NO weapons. None. You aren't allowed by the dev to build any because of his deranged leftism.
You get attacked by enormous monsters and cannot think to build an explosive suicide drone, even with advanced battery tech that would explode real good.

The game is much better than it deserves to be given how much the devs need to die. That's not to say it's amazing, just that the bar is real low, but it's still pretty good, especially in terms of atmosphere. You do get weapons, but it's true that they won't give you any kind of gun because guns are bad. Torpedoes, somehow, aren't, I guess because blacks can't swim and thus never shoot each other with them.

They probably had to. The Red Cross is very aggressive in forcing their bs trademark.

Every other game represents health with red crosses. It's not like they were doing anything that could in any way possibly be construed as specific endorsement.

A lot of games bent the knee, including BattleBit and Zero Sievert, turning the icons green.
There was some game that literally told them to **** off; you can't control geometric shapes and colors.
I forget who though. Nothing came of it.

Edit: Prison Architect was one that told them to get bent with their inconsistent enforcement of an unenforceable colored shape.

They don't. The international standard for a first aid kit is a white cross on a green background.

Sure they can, that's how copyright works. Any drawing is just "geometric shapes and colors".

Because they've registered the trademark in most countries I know of, and trademarks typically don't expire.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if it has specific laws protecting it in many countries, similar with the red crescent and such.

And Prison Architect.

https://www.pcgamer.com/how-the-prison- ... nventions/

"My immediate reason for writing is that it has been brought to our attention that in your game ‘Prison Architect’ a red cross emblem is displayed on vehicles," it reads. "Those responsible may be unaware that use of the red cross emblem is restricted under the Geneva Conventions for the Protection of War Victims of 12 August 1949, and that unauthorised use of this sign in the United Kingdom is an offence under the Geneva Conventions Act 1957.

If the red cross emblem or similar signs are used for other purposes, no matter how beneficial or inconsequential they may seem, the special significance of the emblem will be diminished," the email reads. "The red cross emblem or similar designs are not general signs of ambulances, health care, first aid, the nursing or medical profession, or similar matters. Moreover, they are not signs to be used for commercial purposes, such as for advertising campaigns or on products."

Delay tells me the change took seconds to make in Photoshop. "It's not worth taking the stand," Morris says. "You have to pick your battles." "

It's obviously very ridiculous, no harm is coming to the brand from any of this, but it is law.

But as someone who heavily opposes any form of IP laws, I'll admit I'm biased.

Trademarks also don't apply to any and all uses of a shape, but only in a restricted domain. Nobody would actually think that the use of a red plus for health means that the Red Cross made or endorsed that game, so trademark doesn't apply. It's well established law that different companies can even use exactly the same trademark in different fields - this is why there are two different Hershey companies.

The start is pretty comfy. The atmosphere of swimming around the shallows with few threats is something else. The fear as you have to venture out into deeper areas is nicely done too. After a few advancements the game does get pretty easy though.
