This is a good one, I'll probably do it.Magick wrote: β Today, 04:50*@Oyster Sauce suggestion of Mod highlights is cool (make sure that any user can buy it for any mod!) that promotes a mod ("game\title") either in a dismissable forum announcement, or maybe even as a ModHQ logo comment, akin to the RPGHQ ones. (Allow all users to Opt Out of seeing these, if done as an "announcement". OR just show them only on the ModHQ pages).

Oh, I didn't have reactions allowed for long enough to notice which ones were gained when I paypigged. It was just Salute?rusty_shackleford wrote: β Today, 07:26Fundamentally, there's not meant to be a difference. The entire point of the change was just to make things clearer and not have to rely on manual processing. I guess before you did get all platinum reactions when you bought platinum, butβ¦ there was only one.![]()
What is the conversion rate of dollars to plats? I was assuming $1 == 1plat

It's hard to come up with fun ideas for people that do want to support the site without negatively impacting anyone's experience.
I may move the piggy back to automatic on buying platinum. We shall see. The piggies are iconic.

Each month a brand new tier 4 forum post reaction will become available to obtain via the platinum shop during that month only. For each 0.70 plat spent, you have a 91.2% chance to unlock a random tier 2 forum post reaction
, a 7% chance to unlock a random tier 3 forum post reaction
, and a 0.8% chance to unlock a prestigious tier 4 forum post reaction
. You are guaranteed to get a tier 4 forum post reaction within 80 pulls with a 50% chance of it being this month's exclusive limited time tier 4 reaction and a 50% chance to be a tier 4 reaction from the permanent pool of select tier 4s. If you pulled a tier 4 and it was not this month's featured reaction, the next tier 4 you pull is guaranteed to be the month's featured reaction. This count carries over to the next month.

Firstly you'd want as many reactions available to all users to encourage interactivity on this Web 2.0 platform. There could be some paid reactions or sets of reactions rather but I suspect less than 1% of all users ever pay anything.
The Codex is smarter about this. There's plenty of basic reactions for all members, then they get more after a year of being member encouraging longer participation. Then if that isn't enough they can buy more.
They're not selling each emote for 15 bucks.

Good morning Mr. Moofia Boss, I'm a recruiter with Zynga. Could just be a new "active subscription" pin.Acrux wrote: β Today, 06:56If I understand right, the way it's currently set up encourages one time donation rather than monthly or yearly subscriptions. Some purchases should be permanent, like the piggies, but you'll want some things that renew. Maybe the reactions (don't hurt me @Kalarion!) or the colored name?
Of course, I may be reading it incorrectly.
Don't forget the (hat) "tip a moderator", too.rusty_shackleford wrote: β Today, 07:31This is a good one, I'll probably do it.Magick wrote: β Today, 04:50*@Oyster Sauce suggestion of Mod highlights is cool (make sure that any user can buy it for any mod!) that promotes a mod ("game\title") either in a dismissable forum announcement, or maybe even as a ModHQ logo comment, akin to the RPGHQ ones. But yes tread carefully with this whole thing, but done right, it won't really have any negative impact beyond what we have now. Some timed offers on certain things (like the annual piggies) would encourage people to "buy" more often.
As for the collapsible categories, add a category of "Plat", with the leftmost being the one-time purchase, and a few different subscription frequencies. Then any moneybag whales can buy those and support the forum long-term. (More special paypiggies for them. Sparkly / "Elite" outline or something).
Guess I cant pay with my Morrowind bucks or gear.

It should be easy and elegant, I think the way you have it now is the best so far. I always thought of something like plat (as it is now, I mean) as a store of value like currency, and if so it should be fungible.
If I pay $100/month in subscription for a year, it seems eminently fair to me that I should be able to buy every single piggy and reacc until my plat runs out, regardless of when they were created. I paid the site $1200! That's what... 6 months of site uptime all on my own or something? Not counting paying for your and maybe Loregamer's time, personally (that's probably worth several hundred thousand by this point).
I suppose closing previous years' piggies off after the year is over is acceptable, as a sort of marker for "seniority". "Paying member since 2026!" Buy now or forever hold your peace!

So do ya want the previous piggies closed off, or available?Kalarion wrote: β Today, 16:55It should be easy and elegant, I think the way you have it now is the best so far. But yes if say, an annual subscription breaches two years, I'd expect the person to be able to buy both piggies.
Or better:
- Anyone with an active subscription (any tier) gets piggies allocated automatically, ("Free"). For any years that their subscription is "Active" on. (So basically current year, and next year's piggies, unless the person cancels). Either "Free" or purchasable from plat shop at a heavy (20% minimum) discount.
- Anyone without a subscription, can buy them with plat. (Current year only, full, high price).
- Old piggies are locked (tough!).
I think that making something permanently unavailable leaves money on the table and discourages new members with a collector mindset (a good portion of people who pay for pixels) from sponsoring the site.
I'd rather see something intended to be limited in time double, triple, quadruple, etc, in price each year it goes out of season.
