What the hell am I doing wrong here?
gotta ask if your following the "how-to" from github for wasteland reborn/loreout?

"Do note that you MUST use FULL (ALL DLC, except high-res textures) LATEST Steam version of Fallout 4 because we've said so. Not up for debates."
"After you have done everything above and have a clean Fallout 4 game folder, start the Launcher and let it do the initial graphics check. Do not worry about this part, as the installation will replace these graphics settings, then Start Fallout 4"

-these are just a few things i took from the how-to, its almost like you didnt fire up the game one time or i hope its that simple? if you dont have antivirus exclusions setup, give it a try.

I feel like bashing my head against the wall.

I've been trying since last night, to install Wasteland Reborn - and then I moved to LoreOut after wiping everything to see if that'd work instead.

I keep getting a **** TEMP_BSA_FILES error. Two different errors, same repack, same copy of Wabbajack Unlocked.

What the hell am I doing wrong here?
I think one, if not more, of the mods related to that list have been removed from nexus, and when I mean removed is literal, no archives left.
A quick search brought this up:
Screenshot 2025-12-24 135943.png
Might be it, might not be it, doesn't matter, installation is broken as far as I know.

IN FACT searching for this list online brings a notice that it's been removed, sucks I guess, but that's how things go.

I would recommend heading to their discord and asking answers to them directly, as I can't really provide much more

Don't hesitate, if you're lucky they'll help you, I've had my talks with some of the people behind the list I've played and they helped me a bit with some things. You should do the same.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I uploaded Diamond City Radio Extended to the Vault. It's also on my Mediafire. If the file is passworded, it's cs.rin.ru
https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/ ... 2.rar/file

Edit: I've also added the pertinent info to my Wasteland Reborn guide.

Edit: If you are trying to install a modpack on a repacked game, of which most are precracked, you need to replace the cracked files with originals. Modpacks should only be cracked AFTER installation. It's a wonder you ever got past hashing files right at the start.

I've found only 2 modpacks so far that will install on a cracked game, and those are Welcome to Night City for Cyberpunk 2077, and Star Wars Genesis for Starfield.

ii just installed FGRP and left the crack files there/did not swap them with the originals as itll auto do this. Although MO2 removed those crack files upon launch every time until i added the crack to MO2 (dont ask, bc i have no idea but thats how i got it to work). I did not have the original files for fallout 4 while installing Wasteland genesis thru wabbajack. -i did use your manifest files for FO4 and Creation content tho from CSRIN. to be clear, after installing and trying to launch with MO2 i could watch the steam emu, steamAPI/etc be removed or changed. Once i added the cracks to MO2's directory and started launching it via admin it stopped doing this for whatever reason. ive since purchased it but have not reinstalled since its working and downgrading would be a pain in the ***.

LoreOut v1.0.5

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/gomwg5 ... Out v1.0.5

Code: Select all

Requirements:

Fallout 4 GOTY v1.11.191
Crack for v1.10.163
BethINI Pie - https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/631 (v4.16 is the latest as of this writing. The LO authors failed to include it.)
WastelandReborn_@@_wasteland_reborn.wabbajack - LoreOut uses the same filename as WR. Get this from Wabbajack or Mediafire.

Instructions:

As always, my paths are used. Substitute your own, or use the same names to make it easier to follow.
If you change it after install, LoreOut will not work. This holds true for all modpacks.

1. Make a folder in the root of your drive. Let's call it "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5".

2. If you already have some or all of the mods, make a folder inside your LO folder as shown below, and place your mods inside that.
   "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\downloads"

3. In WJ Unlocked, select Fallout 4 from the dropdown box, and wait for the pictures to load.

4. Select LoreOut.

5. In the "Install Location" box, point it to where you will be installing LoreOut. "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5"

6. In "Game Folder" box, point it to your Fallout 4 folder. "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout 4"

7. You can ignore the Fallout 76 box. It is not used.

8. The "Downloads Location" box should be auto populated, based on your "Install Location" choice.
   "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\downloads"

9. Leave the "Ignore Hash Mismatches" checkbox empty.

10. Click the Install button.

11. Go do something else. This part takes a lot of time, especially if you don't already have the mods.
Just be sure to check on it periodically in case it stops or bogs down. Restarting WJ usually fixes it.

12. When it's done installing successfully, you will know. Click the button to place a shortcut on your desktop, then close WJ Unlocked.

13. Now that LO is finished installing, let's crack it. Place your crack in the following location and overwrite:
    "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\Stock Game"

14. Extract BethINI Pie (Bethini Pie-631-4-16-1762836585.7z) to "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\Tools"

15. In MO2, click the dropdown box in the upper right corner and select Edit.

16. In the Modify Executables window, next to Executables, select the + icon and select Add Empty.

17. Change the Title box to "BethINI Pie"

18. Change the Binary box to "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\Tools\Bethini Pie\Bethini.exe" using the button on the right to navigate to it.

19. Change the Start In box to "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\Stock Game" using the button on the right to navigate to it.

20. Clear the Arguments box if there's anything in it.

21. Click Apply and OK.

22. Still in MO2, select BethINI Pie from the dropdown box in the upper right, and click the Run button.

23. Choose Fallout 4 and click Select Game.

24. In the Setup box, edit Game Path to the following: "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\Stock Game\Fallout 4.exe"

25. Edit INI Path to the following: "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\profiles\LoreOut\fallout4.ini"

26. Click OK.

27. On the Basic tab, set your video options in the Display box. Don't worry about any of the sliders, just set your
Resolution, Display Mode, Antialiasing, and Anisotropic Filtering.

28. In the Presets box, choose yours. Poor, Low, Medium, High, or Ultra. I choose Ultra. It can be changed later if need be.

29. Click "Apply Recommended Tweaks"

30. On the General tab you can change whatever options you want. If you take a lot of screenshots, be sure to
set "Screenshots Directory" to "D:\LoreOut v1.0.5\Stock Game". This is where you will find your LO screenshots now.

31. Be sure to set your difficulty level in the Gameplay box, if you want something other than Survival.
    Leave the Papyrus box alone.

32. On the Visuals tab, you will find more video settings from Fallout 4's Launcher. Change them how you see fit.
I always turn off Depth of Field, Motion Blur, Radial Blur, and Wetness. Everything else I left as is. You can always come back and tweak things later.

33. I left the rest of the tabs alone. When you are done in BethINI Pie, click File > Save. It's going to pop up a window showing you what settings will be changed.
Click Save for each file. Then close BethINI Pie.

34. Now you are ready to play. In MO2, in the upper right dropdown box, select LoreOut, then click the Run button.
As usual, MO2 will complain about Steam not running.
In the dropdown box at the bottom, select "Remember my choice", then click the middle button to continue without Steam.

35. Modpacks can take a long time to reach the main menu during first launch, just let it work.

36. Enjoy!

I have no clue what FGRP is, or Wasteland Genesis. Also, I have not provided any manifest files for anything. I don't know what you did to get your modpack working, but good job I guess.

seems i got to those files by going thru your mentions to others, somehow anyways. but you werent the one who shared those manifests or the crack files (since i believe that's why i had issues) I.E F4SE kept claiming i had the wrong version (i didnt). the person i got them from was Steeler7.. either way, FGRP is fitgirl repacks...point is tho, having the original files wasnt something i had. might have got lucky idk.. i just know i placed the crack files in the MO2 directory (WJ made) and made MO2 run as admin, always. As well as added the manifest files to steam. manifest files were already present since i did that before running WJ so i dont know if that helped at all..

edit- considering the crack files still get removed (just noticed) im unsure wtf is going on. it auto replaces steamapi with the original in ++gameroot++. removes all other rune stuff from the folder. however these crack files are still present in the main directory. which is in my steamapps directory..the game was working prior to purchase.. purchased because it was 9 bucks for GOTY. i tried replicating what i did, but nothing i tried un-doing worked. the only thing that stopped me from playing was removing the crack from the steamapps folder. otherwise it works. wasteland

Heya.

I have been trying to install the FUSION modpack using this tool since a few days ago but I'm constantly getting an error JUST in the last step of installation: Something about a temp file being used by another process, here's the exact error:

Code: Select all

[ERROR] (Wabbajack.InstallationVM) The process cannot access the file 'D:\Fallout4Modpacks\__temp__\z9EEf9Xl' because it is being used by another process.|System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'D:\Fallout4Modpacks\__temp__\z9EEf9Xl' because it is being used by another process.
   at System.IO.FileSystem.DeleteFile(String fullPath)
   at Wabbajack.Paths.IO.AbsolutePathExtensions.Delete(AbsolutePath file)
   at Wabbajack.Paths.IO.TemporaryPath.DisposeAsync()
   at Wabbajack.Compression.BSA.DiskSlabAllocator.DisposeAsync()
   at Wabbajack.Compression.BSA.BA2Archive.Builder.DisposeAsync()
   at Wabbajack.Installer.StandardInstaller.BuildBSAs(CancellationToken token)
   at Wabbajack.Installer.StandardInstaller.Begin(CancellationToken token)
   at Wabbajack.InstallationVM.<BeginInstall>b__172_0()
Before anyone asks, yes, I have followed every single pre-installation step on the modpack's page, disabled my antivirus, and tried looking up fixes for the error but no luck. I have attempted intallation on 2 separate devices but I still get the error, and the temp file that is supposedly "being used by another process" is fine and dandy on the __temp__ folder of the modpack.

This is is quite strange since previously managed to succesfully install the modpack with zero troubles some months ago (although I didn't manage to crack it), but now that I'm trying to reinstall it I keep hitting this error, so, uh, any help?

Your legit game doesn't get touched by the modpack, except when it's copying files. The reason the crack is being replaced in GameRoot is because there is another copy of the game buried in there somewhere, along with a GameData.json or similar file with hashes inside. A few lines need to be removed from that file, and a crack placed in each game folder you can find. You can ignore your legit game folder. There was never a need to place a crack there in the first place. Take a look at some of my tutorials and you will find out how to edit GameData.json.

And be sure you have the crack for the correct version of the game, as it may have been downgraded during install.

Close Wabbajack Unlocked, and delete that temp folder. Restart WJ Unlocked and let it pick up where it left off.

Just tried that several times, same error as always but with a different temp file each time. (Also, doesn't Wabbajack deletes all temp files when resuming installations by default?)

It does upon successful install. Otherwise, I don't know, but it's a common solution.

I could try installing the modpack myself see how it goes, but it will have to wait. I'm currently setting up for Begin Again v5.1.0.

And be sure you have the crack for the correct version of the game
its the crack for this version, i dont have another version of FO4 installed. changed the save folder name, and (any other folders) for fallout 4 to "fallout 44" to avoid issues since i played fallout london when it came out. my "legit" files dont exist since i only purchased the game and never allowed steam to do anything. the files that are in my steam directory are the repacked fallout 4 files which were updated to 1.10.984. as for "game root" (the folder inside wabbajack that has a copy of the game) replacing the crack files with the original steamapi, i have no idea. steam's never running when i play this as MO2 was told to ignore it. all in all, half tempted to reinstall and set this up again on a separate OS install and just toss the downloads from the mods over to WJ to try figuring out why its working when in theory it shouldnt be. -reiterating that steam has not updated, installed, touched the files for fallout 4. considering i cant replicate how i got this working without the original files (unless MO2 doing this caused it to work). i will look at your guide to see what you stated vs what i actually did.

Begin Again v5.1.0 on GOG
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/79547

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/c9yj3h ... ain v5.1.0

Code: Select all

Requirements:

Fallout 3 GOTY v1.7.0.3 GOG (Mediafire or gog-games.to)
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition v1.4.0.525 GOG (Mediafire or gog-games.to)
Tale of Two Wastelands v3.3.4 (https://mod.pub/ttw/133/files)

Note: We won't worry about YUPTTW, as it's already part of the modpack.

TTW-Begin-Again-main.zip - For a local copy of the official instructions. (https://github.com/SpringHeelJon/TTW-Begin-Again)

Instructions:

1. Install Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I'm using the following folders:
   "D:\Games\Fallout 3"
   "D:\Games\Fallout New Vegas"

2. Run each game's launcher then close it. Do NOT run either game.
Don't worry about your graphics options, your choices here won't matter.

3. Make the following folders:
   "D:\Begin Again v5.1.0"
   "D:\Begin Again v5.1.0\mods"
   "D:\Begin Again v5.1.0\mods\[NoDelete] TTW v3.3.4"

4. Extract TTW somewhere.

5. Run "TTW Install.exe". Fill in the boxes. Install TTW here: "D:\Begin Again v5.1.0\mods\[NoDelete] TTW v3.3.4"

6. While TTW is installing, run Wabbajack Unlocked.

7. Select Fallout New Vegas after letting everything load.

8. Select Begin Again after letting everything load.

9. Click Install.

10. Once mods are finished downloading and install begins, WJ Unlocked is going to complain about missing FalloutNV.exe.
Ignore it. Installation will proceed normally. It's simply looking for the Steam version, instead of GOG.
You won't even notice it unless you are watching the log.

11. Optional: Now that installation is complete, click the button to make a shortcut on the desktop.

12. Copy FalloutNV.exe from your FNV GOG install to "D:\Begin Again v5.1.0\mods\FNV4GB\Root"

13. Run FNVpatch.exe, press any key like it says. The original FalloutNV.exe will be renamed as a backup, and a new FalloutNV.exe will appear.

14. Copy the patched FalloutNV.exe to the following folders and overwrite:
    "D:\Games\Fallout New Vegas"
    "D:\Begin Again v5.1.0\plugins\data\RootBuilder\DGamesFallout_New_Vegas\1_4_0_525\Backup" *

*This folder name is based on the install folder for FNV, so it will be named accordingly on your computer.

15. Navigate to "D:\Begin Again v5.1.0\plugins\data\RootBuilder\DGamesFallout_New_Vegas\1_4_0_525" and open
GameData.json in a text edtior. You can skip step 16 by replacing your GameData.json with my pre-edited copy.

16. Remove the following line. Note the comma at the start of the line. It's not a typo:
    , "falloutnv.exe": {"Relative": "FalloutNV.exe", "Hash": "0f374bae0d6c34b754d3a487d49486ba", "Modified": 1766881137.0382764, "Size": 16084808}

17. Run MO2 via your new shortcut.

18. If you get a popup about FalloutNV_lang.esp, choose to delete it.

19. In the left pane of MO2, find "[NoDelete] TTW v3.3.4" and drag/drop it to "Put Tale of Two Wastelands Mod Here"
and make sure the checkbox is checked to enable TTW.

20. Optional: in the upper right dropdown box, make sure Begin Again is selected, and click the shortcut button.
Place a shortcut on your desktop.

21. Click Run in MO2 or use your new shortcut to launch Begin Again.

22. The New Vegas launcher should open. Set your graphics options here, then exit. Do NOT run the game via this launcher.

23. When I first ran Begin Again, FalloutNV.exe crashed while the launcher was open. Don't worry about it.

24. Now that your graphics are set, run Begin Again, again. It should load fine now. Enjoy!

(Replying to you from here since I can't PM; hopefully not going off-topic) I have a SSD and a 8-threads CPU. Unfortunately, the solution you sent didn't work and the wabbajack installar still fails at the same step with the temp file :(

was hoping changing how many things WJ can extract at a time would have been an easy solution.. either way, have you tried rebooting your PC? Making sure MO2 or (votex/mod managers) arent running when trying to install? While i cant recall needing to, it wouldnt hurt to try running WJ in admin mode or making sure there are no "second" process for WJ running (shouldn happen but never know).

i again mention adding an exclusion for AV software as you mention turning it off. Since turning off/disabling AV doesnt always work, and its prob not related since you stated each file is different its a step to cross out as "just in case". make sure any cloud sync ******** is turned off, as it could be trying to back something up while WJ is in process of moving/doing its thing?? other than that, im out of ideas. yes, im aware i repeated a few of these lol its force of habbit..

I have a SSD and a 8-threads CPU. Unfortunately, the solution you sent didn't work and the wabbajack installar still fails at the same step with the temp file
was hoping changing how many things WJ can extract at a time would have been an easy solution.. either way, have you tried rebooting your PC?

1.- Rebooting PC didn't do anything
2.- I can't even get to MO2 since the error happens during the wabbajack installation.
3.- Nothing else is running while trying to install
4.- Admin mode doesn't do anything either
5.- Nope, no second processes
6.- I already did the AV exclusion thing and it didn't fix anything and I don't have any cloud sync thing turned on

I suppose I'll just wait till someone else installs the modpack and finds a fix because so far I've had zero luck myself :/

Hello, guys! Newbie here :D Wonderful work with WU; definitely a skillful job by Wolvrines...sadly, I downloaded with no problem the "Halls of Sovngarde" modlist. but the infamous "you have no license" on Steam always appear, even selecting the option to start without Steam...if someone have a solution I am immensely grateful...

did you try tossing your crack into MO2 directory, making sure your cracks also in the OG install dir as well as "gameroot" folder in MO2's sub directory? *yes, three locations*. although i couldnt repeat this when trying by removing the crack/launching/etc it still worked no matter what on my end. at least for fallout 4. -i have since purchased the game. but have yet to update/launch on steam "0hours" claims steam anyhow lol.. (300+ with WU+Wasteland genesis).

yes, i had the "you dont own a legit copy" prior to pasting the crack in MO2/other directory locations. but i also added the manifest files. ill share the manifest files here *took these from my steamapps folder, hopefully your not capped on pixel since the bypass doesnt work anymore.. if you are, ill upload somewhere else. redit**manifest files go in steam/steamapps folder

wolverine mentioned something about needing the original files prior to someone else about another modlist for fallout 4 (if i recall). ive never had to do this myself though but worth a shot if thats something you missed.
edit- oh, skse means "skyrim special edition" not sure if thats something that was clear or not.

Require some help regarding installing Loreout.

Game Version: Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition (+ Update v1.11.191 – Next-Gen Update + All DLCs + High Resolution Texture Pack + MULTi10) (From 21.9 GB) [DODI Repack] (Hi-Res Textures skipped)

Wabbajack Version: Wabbajack Unlocked 3.6

1. Installed FO4 in a directory and I downloaded all the mods to a separate folder.
2. Launched FO4 exe file (guide says to launch launcher but the latest update removed the launcher). Exited the game after reaching menu.
3. Opened Wabbajack and selected the correct game folder and mods folders
4. Installation fails with the following error:

Code: Select all

00:14:50.885 [INFO] (Wabbajack.Installer.StandardInstaller) Building Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2
00:14:50.885 [ERROR] (Wabbajack.InstallationVM) Could not find file 'D:\Modlists\Loreout\TEMP_BSA_FILES\d3bc9f79-642a-46dd-a4b6-9035a758f126\ShadersFX\Shaders011.fxp'.|System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'D:\Modlists\Loreout\TEMP_BSA_FILES\d3bc9f79-642a-46dd-a4b6-9035a758f126\ShadersFX\Shaders011.fxp'.
File name: 'D:\Modlists\Loreout\TEMP_BSA_FILES\d3bc9f79-642a-46dd-a4b6-9035a758f126\ShadersFX\Shaders011.fxp'

Other details:
1. It seems during the installation my game was downgraded to v1.10.980 (seems fine, thats what the modlist requires)
2. ShadersFX folder is empty in TEMP_BSA_FILES
3. At the start of the installation get multiple warnings like:
► Show Spoiler
Any idea on how I could fix this?

Thanks for the help, man! I put the 1.7 crack of my Skyrim Fitgirl edition (patched) XD in the three locations, and the file you provided, but now MO2 give me a "Dll plugins has failed to loaded correctly", along some mods descriptions saying that are incompatible with the current version of the game, and lastly "Internal Error 0x0D interface not found steaminput006"...

What is sad because the modlist that I wanted was downloaded with absolutely no problem with the WU provided by the good fellow Wolverines...

what mods are not compatible and do you have the correct version installed/updated to said proper version??

i cant be 100% sure, but i did just tell steam to install skyrim se so it might have changed something in the manifest (if thats a thing). did you also follow the directions here and did you check their "FAQ" channel on their discord here it says to "delete the affected mod for said DLL and reinstall". if that discord link comes up blank you should be able to join up through the other link as their discord is linked on that page. if you share images of WJ/U i suggest you dont or make sure its impossible to notice its not the legit wabbajack lol. id also refrain from mentioning FGRP.

also, side note that the skyrim linked on FGRP might be outdated for HOS since from what i can tell requires 1.6.640.. some of my info may not be accurate however. but i do believe FGRP's repack might not be updated unless i just didnt click the right one. unless you updated another way which i might have missed... hopefully some of this may help though. otherwise im of no use here it appears.

I reinstalled the modlist and did all the replace, and on the launch MO2 showed the skse was outdated, so I replace it with the current version and tried again, in this time the message about Dll missing and incompatible mods return, but the game nevertheless started...and closed after the menu appear TT

I will try another modilist to see if I have more luck... its kind of tiresome these problems, but hey, its the "price" you pay for kind of "challenge the system", and in the end its nice see that still exist good people trying to bring solutions in anyway they can... thanks man! I appreciated the help and patience.

it might be worthwhile to check CSRIN since there are (several) peer2peer (p2p) releases available that may make things a bit easier to manage. unless you have limited data or something.. same goes for the other fellow who ive not responded to directly. skyrim has (mostly) all releases available on its first page. and Wolverines has posts and pinned tags which https://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=151409 is a link to one. hopefully this isnt something you've seen, and it may help?

Yeh @Jeff_Black check cs.rin, there's a lot of good advice there I myself have used some of their instructions into other modlists.

Currently installing magnum opus, they have a guide for it there if you're interested, and plenty more.

Edit a bunch of hours later: Ok scratch that, I will try loreout that's new and got a modlist that looks pretty good.

Currently facing this little problem, if you haven't found a solution for this, I suspect it's our Fallout 4 installation. I think we need GOTY without the HQ textures DLC, still trying to find that thing.

I'll send a new message if I manage to install it, might need help from someone else, just wait pal.

Clean Steam Files (CSF) are what you need. Not some rando torrent that's precracked. No HD texture pack.

Does no one bother reading official instructions? It's quite clear neither of you bothered.

https://github.com/Camora0/Wasteland-Re ... stallation
Do note that you MUST use FULL (ALL DLC, except high-res textures) LATEST Steam version of Fallout 4 because we've said so. Not up for debates. In case you've got the AE (the latest DLC or whatever they call it), DO NOT manually downgrade. Wabbajack will do it for you.
You can't use some rando crack from whatever version either. The crack has to match the game version. If your game was downgraded to X version, then that's the version you need a crack for.
This is day one of pirate school, it's not rocket science.

You don't go replacing script extenders as the one needed is the one Wabbajack downloads. I don't care what error you got. It's not the wrong version of the script extender, you just ****** up again.

Read the official instructions and mine! Follow them without deviation, especially since neither of you knows wtf you are doing.

You guys are bouncing between modpacks so **** fast, there's not really any point in responding to either of you right now because of that.

Excuse me, I'm sure I did, that's why I suspect it was the installation we had, I read both instructions and ended up concluding it was precisely that, my files. That said I can see where your observation comes from haha, I'm sorry Wolve :]

I had different expectations because I succeeded in installing both Lost Legacy and Star Wars genesis with little problem, guess I got too ahead of myself there. Thanks for your insight on this, I'll make sure not to fail this time and pay more attention!

Haha yes, you're right, I've had my fun with this, perhaps too much.

got your message at cs.rin, thanks Wolverine!

UPDATE

📥 v3.7

Synced with Wabbajack 4.0.5.1

Comes with the following changes:
  • Added checkbox for automatically generating a modlist-report for analyzing the metadata of the resulting modlist file
  • Added option to inverse the mod search filter in the gallery
  • Added game MetaData for Dragon's Dogma 2
  • Optimized Performance
  • Fixed an installation issue when using other Games as sources
  • Fixed the retry button deleting stuff it shouldn't, causing unfinished installations being reported as complete
  • Fixes to the headers sent by WebView2, so that manual downloads via wabbajack appear as wabbajack and not generic web users (playing nicer with various 3rd party sites)
