I'm not going to dig him up yet, but there were several pre-samurai heroes in nipon who were youxia. The one I remember best was Hein or pre-minamoto shogun, who used a peasant's weapon (this detail is important), drank too much, and was either a good guy or bad guy, depending on the story. He was supposed to have been a monk, but never did monkish things, except grift.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 3rd, 2025, 13:19It's on the page:WhiteShark wrote: ↑ December 3rd, 2025, 13:11So what about the knight-errant? Is that not similar?rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 3rd, 2025, 12:41The only thing close to an American Gunslinger (that I can think of right now) is, ironically, the Chinese Xia. I went over it in a post somewhere prior

They made a documentary about thisThe archetype of the youxia, as a wandering martial figure who upholds justice through personal intervention, parallels the European knight-errant depicted in medieval chivalric literature, where such heroes traversed lands to defend the weak and rectify wrongs, often unbound by direct lordly command in their quests.[6] This equivalence is reflected in common translations of youxia as "knight-errant," emphasizing their shared freelance vigilantism against oppression.[37] However, knight-errants typically derived from aristocratic classes with formalized codes of chivalry tied to Christian feudalism, whereas youxia arose from diverse, often lower social origins and prioritized unmediated ethical action over institutional loyalty.[8]

Citizenship is a legal status establishing membership in a sovereign state, entailing mutual rights and duties between the individual and the polity, such as protection abroad, access to public services, and obligations including allegiance, taxation, and potential military service.
If you want to be American, you first need to understand what's wrong with the phrase "usa citizenship."Faceless_Sentinel wrote: ↑ December 4th, 2025, 16:04https://grokipedia.com/page/CitizenshipTangerine wrote: ↑ December 3rd, 2025, 20:40You disqualified yourself by using "usa citizenship," which is what salty America-hating ***** use in YouTube comments.Citizenship is a legal status establishing membership in a sovereign state, entailing mutual rights and duties between the individual and the polity, such as protection abroad, access to public services, and obligations including allegiance, taxation, and potential military service.

No law in any country is so idiotic that the TOS of a website would allow someone to obtain citizenship in that country.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I'm not sure why he uses an avatar from The Banished Vault when there's no possible way he can into a game like that.
RPGs are American culture, because larping as an European knight is the peak American experience. They get, for one afternoon, to not be themselves.
(This post is bait, but I dont mind disclosing it because I know someone will bite anyway.)

You mean anglo-saxon.
America is a continuation of England, it's not larp when it's your own history you dip.

This is bait and a bit off topic but there's real people who believe this, so I'll say something about it: The concept of a knight is not foreign to any country, a knight is simple a high ranking person, nobleman or land owner who actively participated in military affairs. A good example are the Samurai.
Knights, as noblemen warriors, existed in every culture, it's simply a fancy term for a wealthy and prestigious soldier. Plate armor likewise, which is commonly associated with knights (not necessarily) can be observed in many armies from all around the world through time.
Here's a what a North American highly reputed soldier, of a presumably wealthy lineage, would have worn in battle: Bone Plate armor (this **** sounds like Morrowind ngl)

Looks like a knight to me.
Of course, the european knight would be the most popular reference, but this is not entirely true. The Star Wars Jedi are the best example of this.
even if it wasn't (that it is) the historical background of a knight is highly desirable to anyone no matter where they come from, it's ******* cool. Besides, what are RPGs for if not to NOT be yourself?rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 7th, 2025, 15:48it's not larp when it's your own history you dip.
Ok, let me ponder my ball again: So you don't want to be yourselves, you want to be a cheap version of Britain.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 7th, 2025, 16:54It undoubtedly is, we already had this discussion prior.
