RPGs are dead

Post by Acrux »

It's over bros. Here's a list of RPGs highlighted in the Steam NextFest. This is the future of the genre. (This doesn't even include things like Visual Novels, VR, multiplayer, etc.)

That Next Fest landing page actually shows "Reccommended For You" games.

When I went there I saw different games than @Acrux .. Also for some reason under "RPG" I'm getting a ton of Hentai games.. the only "mature" games that I own are Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk though, maybe Metro if you consider that an RPG lol.. :Inspector:

Oh well.. :unzips pants:

extremely wide genre reinterpretation allows non-rpgs to masquerade as rpg

Just making an assumption here but my first thought is because ***** like roleplaying. Could be wrong but if a poll was taken I'm sure RPGs would be up there as a most popular genre among *****. ***** ruin everything.

I think the ability to customize characters was a subtle way of introducing gnostic, ******-ideas in the minds of the public. I mean hey if you can customize your digital avatar any way you want, surely you can do the same in real-life too!. Also JRPGs exploded and introduced anime and it's common tropes to the wider genre also.

I think it's the lack of gameplay focus in most RPGs. There's less room for faggotry in games that have to focus on being games instead of relationship simulators.

I think the ability to enter a name was a subtle introduction of gnosticism. Using a pseudonym allowed players to be a woman or a man no matter what their sprite was.

Most people just want to play themselves, though. If the problem is with a customizable avatar, then you have to go back and blame tabletop RPGs first. JRPGs are the opposite of this since you generally can't customize your character.

The Star Ocean 2 remake is decent, they got a free demo for it up. It's one of the better JRPGs I've played. It doesn't look like they pozzed it up.

Isn't that a remake of a remake of an anime adaption?

I used to enjoy Star Ocean as a kid.. until they totally jumped the shark. lol

I'm not one of those autists who's going to get into the intricacies of whether it's closer to the original or the PSP port. I can only comment on what I played in the demo.

You can combo with normal attacks same as in the PSP version, and there's some good changes to the battle system.

Mages are actually useful in this version, because spells don't freeze the screen any more, and some of the spells you get in the demo now multi-hit when they didn't previously.

It's a lot better than the trash that was SO6 IMO.

Yes, it's the usual stupid wall of text but there is a grain of truth to it.

Japanese RPGs tend to be resistant to some parts of the western woke blights: Ugly strong wamen are rare (and if they exist they are villains, fittingly enough), the ESG gender crap is left at the door and their society as a whole rejects the whole "You must accept this much brown people as invaders immigrants this year!" propaganda the US and Europe is swamped with.

Only thing I can think of are the virtual novel things specifically designed to pander to men who like lesbians or women who like to see guys ****, all of which is kept separate from normal games. Those "games" are actually older than a lot of this woke crap we have to deal with here.
