Started paying attention to the skin color of NPCs after seeing it brought up, only the randomly generated citizens seem heavily skewed towards black. Going to be funny if it's a bug, I want to see the patch notes.
Even funnier if it's just a back-end slider.
Watch a modder set it to 0.

Think New Atlantis purposely has NPCs skewed towards black. Akila/Neon seem to have less.
Story goes the black race came from Lemuria. Deepest lore.

I'm about 90% sure that if you ask ships you come across for rumors and they tell you a location, it gets added to your map.

You can clone a female from a male by just removing the Y chromosome and duplicating the X chromosome.

EDIT: I accidentally had the resolution set to 50% of native XD
Why use FSR/DLSS at native resolution (slider set to 100%)?

In this specific case (Starfield) there's little reason, however in some other games the DLSS anti-aliasing is a lot better than the game's native TAA. It will be less blurry, it will anti-alias more effectively. This is why there's also a specific mode in some games called 'DLAA' which is just the DLSS 'AA' technique without any resolution reconstruction.

Rusty Chads.. I kneel
This took 25 minutes at 65x game speed... that's 27 hours of realtime travel. Space in Starfield is big but actually realized in-engine! Should mean that space travel mods are a possibility.
Reminder that you were defending skyboxes because "muh big space" - so you were just being a **** slurping fanboy.. Chad Todd actually delivered a space sim so your gushing was not even required. How embarrassing.

No, you misunderstood what I was stating.
I posted a video of me approaching a planet, it was just very slow. I was stating that it wasn't a skybox like you thought, but just incredibly big.

people simply don't understand how big space is and want it presented to them like it's Star Trek, e.g:

You never said that or if you did I didn't read it that way.
I saw you defending invisible skybox because "It's so big what's the point of making seamless travel"

I really feel like there's gonna be a DLC or mod or something that drops to make seamless space travel more doable. Could be interesting.

:what:
Daggerfall's map is 800x400km in its largest estimate.
800km is ~1/480 the distance of earth from our moon.

Again, nerds cannot into space because scifi has broken their brains on the concept of scale.

"OH sure.. we COULD have meaningful space exploration.. but it takes 63 billion years to travel between those two planets at speed of light.. and space is EMPTY!.. and most planets are dead rocks with nothing to see.. we weren't lazy it's just realism! And life is rare in the universe, so there's no intelligent life except humans, and it's NASA PUNK realistic aesthetic so everything has to be shaped like monochrome shipping crates!"

It's almost like a less realistic game would be more fun to play.. :smug:

What you want is a fantasy game, not a sci-fi space game.
Go play skyrim.

As I said in IRC.. I think if the game was more Space Opera.. or More Warhammer, I'd enjoy it a lot more.

Listen here, Todd: No Man's Sky + Daggerfall. That's all you needed to do. You failed, only this time you aren't the only walking sim dev. There are other open worlds to play.

I'm glad Todd made an actual sci-fi game rather than yet another space opera(fantasy in space)
