If it's such a massive hit, I guess Ubi is saved. Waiting for the jump in stock price. Any moment now....

I think they're going to need to find new clients, considering Shadows peaked at 60,000 on Steam.

Maybe, or they just dogwhistle that its a bought tweet. Cant imagine that "return to form" thing to be a coincidence or just lazyness.

Man, these people really are NPCs with the same script every ******* time.
Just say what you like and what you dislike.

Dislike:
  • Obviously the whole Yasuke Storyline. Game starts with you playing Yasuke and getting to Oda Nobunaga. He's not exactly disrespectful but it is just how his story is written that seems disrespectful. He can speak perfect japanese when first meeting Nobunaga. How and why as a slave? I also do not understand why he has such a "pompous" armor while Nobunaga wears one that is less adorned with stuff.
  • Performance is a bit wonky at times, cutscenes are always 30 fps and the drastic switch from 60fps to 30fps all the time is a bit annoying. (KCD2 also had 30fps cutscenes but only the cinematic ones. Shadows basically treats dialogue and conversation as cutscenes)
Likes:
  • Currently playing Naoe (You have to play her for the first 20 hours of the game or depending on how fast you are) and most enemies really hit hard. You need to dodge and parry IF you fight, stealth is obviously encouraged with her.
Graphics are very nice, and the Environments pretty. No idea why but if I had a nickel for every time a woke game has good hair, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
► Show Spoiler
  • Depending on your graphic settings, Naoe, Yasuke and every NPC has realistic hair, which means when it is windy they'll move around. When I was underwater, Naoe's hair actually moved realistically which was a very nice detail.
  • You have base building in this game and you can find hideouts all over the map which function as fast travel and places where you can refill your food, give scouts supplies so you can send them out again.
  • The scouts I mentioned are a core gameplay feature since the game was designed with exploration in mind and not giving you skyrim markers immediately that are at your target's feet. You actually have to follow clues and listen to people and what they say about things that are happening around the map.
  • Naoe is pretty cute. People keep mocking and ridiculing her body yet I don't see anything wrong with her body (Guess because I'm not a ******* coomer who keeps watching porn, since everyone wants female characters to look like 2B, Eve or that Wuchang lady)
  • You can pray at shrines, the game itself even shows a pop up when you are first near a Torii Gate saying that you should preserve the sanctity of the gates by not climbing on them. When you enter neutral or friendly buildings, your character doesn't wear footwear, or just the socks and if you leave, they are back on.

So far this game is trying to turn Na(wt a woman)oe into a Kill Bill type girl boss character mixed in with a western. Do millennials understand media and art existed before the year 2000? Add "revenge is bad" to the mixture. Also, no one is phased at all by Naoe trying to larp as a man. Even the Last Samurai got this **** right, and that movie was a meme.
I for one am getting really sick of the "revenge is bad" troupe being pushed by the media. Revenge in of itself isn't a bad thing. It can be used to serve as a good motivator to a story and bring a person closure. I have been noticing that the people pushing this whole "revenge is bad" bullocks are people from a certain tribe of long noses and tiny hats. Gee... I wonder why they would be trying to convince the goy that revenge is bad?
:scratch-pipe:
There are so many things going on here with this mantra.

This ties into secular morality, which assumes that only the government or the "approved" people are allowed to exercise use of force and administer justice. See how teachers, ministers, cops, people in labcoats or with the word "Dr." prefixing their name, etc, are treated as the secular clergy. This is also a sideffect of feminism and women leaving the home to join all of these different workplaces and schools in society. Women are weak and afraid of men and want to pacify them. Kids in those prison schools are conditioned that they are not allowed to fight back, because violence in any form is scary to women and they can't handle it. If your neighbors are playing their music too loud or beating people, YOU and your neighbors are not allowed to grab your shotguns and walk over and force them to get their act together. You will get arrested for doing that. You have to stand aside and let the "correct people" - the cops - leisurely take their time showing up and to restore order. Etc.

You also have the common secular/libertarian mindset, which wants to pretend that there is no One True God and therefore no absolute Right or Wrong set by Him. Instead of evil existing and needing to destroyed, it is that everyone is misunderstood and if only we need to stop the cycle of hatred and all be nice to each other and hold hands and sing kumbaya. Judgement is terrifying and must be avoided.

I think it also stems from the bureaucracies that are all encompassing in our lives, be it companies we work for or the governments that get things done or the juries that convict people. The bureaucracies exist to diffuse and obfuscate responsibility. Everything has to go through several different approvals and checks before anything can happen, because any one man making a decision and taking the responsibility is scary. The level of risk and responsibility used to be proportionate to the amount of privilege that came along with it, but that is not the case in modern society where you can get fired or sued or charged for things that are not important.

Except that female ninjas did their thing via seduction, so not looking like an androgynous freak was considered a requirement.

Also, funny how the same "realistic" standards don't apply to the gigantic, jacked-up ******, and that "realism" only comes into the discussion when the topic is attractive women, because the ****** samurai slaughtering hundreds of enemies is realistic, as is a tiny Japanese woman doing the same. Because realism is important.

I'm frankly tired of liberals waging war on female beauty standards.

And yes, heroes need to look good - they're heroes, they are meant to represent the best humanity has to offer. Leftists are the mentally ill ******* that want to drag everyone and everything down to their level of mediocrity.

Peak femininity according to French leftists is... let me check my notes... looking like a little boy?

EDIT: @Finarfin, you don't get to disagree, you're defending this disgusting, ******-worshiping slop.

I guarantee you Ubisoft had hundreds of meetings with countless "consultants", and went over an obscene amount of revisions, just to ensure she looked specifically inoffensive for the modern audience.

So, you're saying scrawny female fighters killing grown men with ease is realistic?

Way to go, ally.

They make White women ugly on purpose in their games too. The Asians don't.

So if your argument hinges on appreciation of White female beauty, then why are you defending Western developer in general, and Ubisoft in particular?
