If it had flopped, that wouldn't be the case, they'd be getting layoffs instead. Like what happened to Arkane Austin.

Full release snagged an extra 2000 players over advanced access. Most people who bought Avowed bough the **** Edition for an extra $30.

Call it cope, but the guy calling they had "4 million people that played Indiana Jones" seems word salad to me.Roguey wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 00:39MachineGames just announced they were hiring yesterday https://www.purexbox.com/news/2025/02/m ... eat-circle1998 wrote: β February 18th, 2025, 23:35Can't imagine they were happy with it. How much did they play? Because, if I pay monthly for a catalogue of 100s of games and a new shiny turd drops in, I might as well check it for 10 minutes for shits and giggles.
Did they register any increase in Game Pass subscribers since Avowed and/or Indiana Jones dropped?
Because if they started at 4 millions and remained at 4 millions, that does not sound much of a "win" for them.
Then if you want to argue that Game Pass shields them from being recognized as a failure, I agree with you. But still.
Overall, it seems to me that the nature of Game Pass is obfuscating traditional figures of merit you would see, say, on Steam. Therefore they can say whatever they want. On the plus side, their alleged "success" is diluted within the rest of the game catalogue. Again, call it cope if you will.
Cope x3 : I just checked the total number of players on Game Pass currently: 34 millions as of February 2024. And it should be higher in 2025 (it seems their growth rate is slowing down though). 4 millions is slightly more than 10% of their total customer base, maybe less when we'll know the 2025 user number. I don't know, it doesn't seem very impressive to me (we are talking about Obsidian and the Indiana Jones franchise here for God's sake. Two reputable studios/brands and they pull only ~10% of the user base?!?).
Cope x4 : 34 millions means they have a monthly ~340 M$ to play with (assuming 10$ / month of Game Pass subscription). Considering not all games have studios working on them, of course the studios under it will thrive, as regrettably as it is.

Microsoft does not let companies lay people off, it's the entire studio shutting down or nothing for them.Roguey wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 00:39MachineGames just announced they were hiring yesterday https://www.purexbox.com/news/2025/02/m ... eat-circle1998 wrote: β February 18th, 2025, 23:35Can't imagine they were happy with it. That's their own division not a studio they bought, like I said companies not themselves.1998 wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 09:15They do bothtraxtan wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 08:23Microsoft does not let companies lay people off, it's the entire studio shutting down or nothing for them.Roguey wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 00:39

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, YES! Please let this be the game that finally kills Obshitian. Meanwhile, here's a card game from almost a decade ago made with a shoestring budget:

The latest AAAAAAAAAAAAA slop getting COMPLETELY MOGGED by a game with no animations, no story, no voice acting and flash style graphics will never NOT be ******* hilarious.
Perfect. So how long do you think it will be before we see an article saying multiple staff members got laid off?
Waiting for IGN to tell me why this failing is somehow my fault.
Nah garbage just go released so it will be "return to form" stage for at least two months before they start blaming chuds, or even they will start to **** on it if it ends up being da4 level of badJordy wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 11:49Waiting for IGN to tell me why this failing is somehow my fault.
On that note has anyone played this yet?@logincrash want to sacrifice yourself once again for community?

I am not as attached to Pillars of Eternity as I was to Dragon Age to subject myself to any more slop.jebacdrkac wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 11:59Nah garbage just go released so it will be "return to form" stage for at least two months before they start blaming chuds, or even they will start to **** on it if it ends up being da4 level of badJordy wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 11:49Waiting for IGN to tell me why this failing is somehow my fault.

Also, Dragon Age didn't have ******* in it from the start, unlike PoE's "We wuz Venetians and shieeet" nogs or the ******** furries/scalies. So, the foundation wasn't as poisoned and the downfall in the writing and setting quality was much more dramatic than it'd be in Avowed, I imagine. Seeing **** on the kitchen table instead of the toilet and all that.
"Oh, it all makes sense now, brother."
Watching gameplay of this **** make me want to play Tainted Grail : The Fall of Avalon even more...
I am not sure that is reassuring anyone working there.
They will claim it was a massive success because trillions played it on game passJordy wrote: β February 19th, 2025, 11:49Waiting for IGN to tell me why this failing is somehow my fault.

Even Scarlet Seeker had very little positive to say about this crap.
So, in this game, you play as "the Envoy", sent by the Aedyran emperor to look into the troubles in the satellite realm in The Living Lands.
You are a troubleshooter, yet the game does not respect this. You are a bad person because you are a white colonizer government representative, especially if you pick Aedyran as your race.
Scarlet Seeker has it correct in his video. It would be nice to play as a Tywin Lannister, a hard-edged super-competent elite determined to break through the local nonsense that prevented them from solving the issue before it made it all the way to the Imperial Seat to have to take action.
Instead, you are narratively constrained at every turn, with limited and poor dialogue choices, and always castigated for taking the "bad" options that such a character would consider.
Worse, apparently, is that some obvious options are off the table completely, as if the devs were too stupid to think of and implement them.
This game is incompetent, from woke ****** devs more concerned with static art than a functioning game world, or even properly animated NPCs.
Scarlet Seeker quit playing in boredom and disgust after the minimum time he sets for his reviews.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.
Reject your retarded-wing political programming and learn to think.

...is that an Intellect 1 check?
Is this a prelude to sodomizing the young lad?
Is buttfucking underage boys the new meta for Western cRPG developers?
What are they trying to tell us?
It is. Either the writers meant that it's a dumb joke or they made sure that no one missed it, not even min-maxers with Int as a dump stat.
wtf is that race?
I wonder if the real industry push for mass UE5 adoption is to save money on hiring competent devs, use asset flips and tell cringe woke stories while limiting the overall financial impact if it flops...

the number of people playing a game on gamepass is the exact number needed for it to be a huge success

nah but 100-200k might very well be. if you pay for it anyway and something that at least had somewhat of budget comes along why not take a look.
but honsetly it would really be great if ms offers some numbers on it but hat also goes for playstation, gog etc. steam is the only service offering this as far as is can tell which will make numbers less usefull. For example if i can get something on gog on day1 i always buy gog so it will not show up in steam numbers. cant be the only one
