There is no XP or levels in this game. There is invisible counter, that is increasing every time you kill certain enemies by a fixed number. When this counter reaches hardcoded values, game became harder (some enemies like small red mix of goblin and pig became stronger version of itself, I think it is blue one, the one that were blue became black and so on), drop from the enemies become better (Guardian Sword became Guardian Sword+ then Guardian Sword++). Link doesn't became stronger out of this system, it doesn't affect him and his stats at all. If you want you can manipulate this counter by save editor. Nintendon't nerds found out exact numbers by unpacking game archives, you can find them online.WhiteShark wrote: ↑ January 15th, 2025, 23:55Dang, that pretty much kills my interest in the mod. I was seriously thinking about trying BotW again modded a few months ago, and this one was top of the list, but I eventually decided it probably wouldn't go far enough in rectifying my issues with the game. These weird limitations on which mobs can give xp and how much are the nail in the coffin for that plan.Vergil wrote: ↑ January 13th, 2025, 06:20Any enemies not in this list do not give you any XP. This means almost all of the most common enemies you will be fighting give you no XP for fighting them. This is a bit annoying at the start when that's basically all you're up against but the first few levels do go by fast enough that once you find a few XP dropping enemies you'll get some easy levels.
However there is the other issue that the same type of enemy will only drop XP 10 times. After you kill 10 of the same XP dropping enemy they *no longer* drop XP. I really don't like this. A lot of these feel very restrictive and like they're trying to penalize farming enemies for XP but I really don't see the point of that. People should have the option to grind out a few levels if they need to. Giving the simple common enemies very low XP values like 1-5 would suffice imo. It wouldn't make it stupid easy to level up but you would at least be getting *some* sort of progression reward for combat.

Going to look and see if there's a more low key house overhaul later. Honestly it's just mega lame to have all these cool weapons I'll never use and only 3 display slots per weapon type. The interior cooking pit would give me more reason to actually go inside too.

The mod to add the sky temple from Skyward Sword is quite good. A little annoyed it makes you wear the ****** botw Link costume instead of the Skyward Sword one though.

Haven't played ToTK yet. Played BotW because I'm a Zelda fan but not a fan of buying yet another ******* console. (Yo ho, yo ho, we're sailin' the waves...)
Can confirm that the purchase menu (and some item menus) are horribly designed and need an overhaul. I enjoyed the shrines though, and installed a mod for the only thing I loathed with a passion (weapon durability).
8/10, good game, needs UI polish and for ****'s sake drop the dogshit weapon degradation. It makes me want to not fight stuff in-game, I don't want to mentally calculate if the next mob is worth killing if it risks my current weapon breaking.
Please don't tell me you made the trip to the temple of time more often than the story required you to?

Vergil, I hate to break this to you... you do know that you can upgrade at every single goddess statue, right? Not just the one in the temple of time? Every single town in the game has its own statue, and a few are literally only a few steps away from shrines you can teleport to.Vergil wrote: ↑ June 23rd, 2024, 22:50Going back to the temple of time (which doesn't have a dedicated fast travel point but has one just close enough to be a mildly annoying walk) to upgrade gets tedious and is just a waste of time.

For BotW? Cemu, the Wii U version of the game is vastly superior in graphics. Cemu is also incredibly comfortable with it's built-in mod function. You can even do the motion control puzzles decently once you realize how the controls are mapped (in my case the mouse wheel was also used to control it, which I failed to realize at first).Cmdr Shepard wrote: ↑ January 23rd, 2025, 17:45What Emulator you guys using? If you want to get the old-save bonus for ToTK apparently you can convert the Wii U save to a Switch save and use Suyu and Yuzu for ToTK, haven't played on there yet. I'm a bit busy at the moment.
Another comment on something: the final boss is a bit underwhelming, especially if you played the game as intended. It's extremely easy with all the abilities you get from the four champions and the boss gets shot for half its HP right at the start. Awesome to watch, but it kind of lets the air out of the fight.
And the idiotic cross dressing segment in the Gerudo village is annoying. I'm more ****** by the existence of the ****** than the actual cross-dressing though. At least that can be semi-excused by the Gerudo all being women and therefore their society is backwards.

I'll probably go for Suyu just for convienience sake and try to get BOTW and TOTK from somewhere. Wish I knew how to dump my games since my brother does own both and I have them here.
Edit: Ah that is good to know, thanks Vergil.

I just redownloaded the fitgirl repack of ToTK with Ryujinx to see if maybe I can get it to not run so poorly but I have low hopes. Perhaps I'll try Suyu instead when that inevitably doesn't work out but honestly I kind of want to move on to either Skyward Sword or another game.SoLong wrote: ↑ January 23rd, 2025, 17:50If you want to get the old-save bonus for ToTK apparently you can convert the Wii U save to a Switch save and use Suyu and Yuzu for ToTK, haven't played on there yet. All of the bosses are absolute **** takes. They are so easy to abuse/stunlock and if you do a moderate amount of exploring and gather weapons/meals/upgrades they are literally over in 30-60 seconds. Guardian arrows and the master sword just melt their HP, you can stun most of them with arrows, the upgraded time lock lets you freeze them in place etc.SoLong wrote: ↑ January 23rd, 2025, 17:50Another comment on something: the final boss is a bit underwhelming, especially if you played the game as intended. It's all bad but the worst offenders to me are the fact you have to compliment the freak and the weird fetishistic close ups on Link's body after putting the clothes on.SoLong wrote: ↑ January 23rd, 2025, 17:50And the idiotic cross dressing segment in the Gerudo village is annoying. Also looking at other people's footage it seems the Skyward Sword dungeon mod is bugged with either the XP mod or (more likely) second wind as the key needed to progress doesn't do anything. That seems to be the reason for why it gave me the wrong outfit as everyone else has the SS outfit on.

Using Suyu and the totk optimizer I can confirm it gives much better performance than what was previously possible. A solid 60 in the interior intro parts but it does dip pretty severely once you step outside. I range from 28-45fps depending on how much ******** is going on at the moment. Still much better than where it was. The part of the intro sequence where you jump down into the big lake with the title card was an absolute mess last time I tried because the game immediately shat itself and ran at like 10fps the entire time. Now it still stuttered at bit at the start but equalized to around 30fps.

I honestly had more fun playing Ubislop games and vanilla Skyrim than I had playing either of these Nu-Zeldas. It's amazing how Nintendo can arrive several years late to the open world trend, and garner 10/10s just because the Zelda brand is on the cover. I haven't touched Tears of the Kingdom since I played the leak copy prior to release, and I have no intention of ever revisiting it. I'll always end up replaying the older Zeldas though, one way or the other. Because their gameplay is tight and focused, the story is engaging enough, and the art is so much more cohesive and with a tinge of darkness/edge to it. That's also what is missing from Zelda post-Twilight Princess, there is a distinct lack of creativity to anything. Ironic since Tears of the Kingdom has you building legos.
Saying this while using the game that tried to be as close to a copy of Ocarina of Time as an example of creativity is camp.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ January 26th, 2025, 14:00That's also what is missing from Zelda post-Twilight Princess, there is a distinct lack of creativity to anything.

At first I hated the Durability crap, but the game throws so many weapons at you that it seems a shame to stick to a few weapons for its whole duration. It also drags down combat even further than vanilla.Faceless_Sentinel wrote: ↑ January 22nd, 2025, 19:04If any of you guys don't like stupid durability ****:

Issue with that is the game makes it a moot point by giving you the master sword which is almost always the best tool for the job anyway. The game needs a REAL durability system like Morrowind/Oblivion where weapons lose effectiveness over time and then break until you repair them so if you have a moveset you prefer (swords, claymores, spears etc) you can keep your best one and just remember to maintain it.Statesman wrote: ↑ January 26th, 2025, 21:04that it seems a shame to stick to a few weapons for its whole duration.

Never beat it, but Skyward Sword was fun. I'd rank Windwaker, Link's Awakening, and the gbc ones above the rest. CDi rank above these ubislops.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ January 26th, 2025, 14:00I honestly had more fun playing Ubislop games and vanilla Skyrim than I had playing either of these Nu-Zeldas.
