Bioware and DAV can still be saved if they make patch of about 100 GB that basically removes everything written or directed by Corinne Busche and Patrick Weekes (and any other writer with the same ideology). And include blood magic and moral choices, dammit. And make a decent ending for the franchise and save Bioware's legacy while you have the chance.

Don't think the company is gonna last long enough for that.

Knew that EA would fire Busche. This tells you that he lost EA a **** ton of money with Veilguard. I just wonder how much Busche lost them. It had to have been more than 100 million if they fired him and are considering shutting down the studio. What a colossal ******* failure for Bioware. Again, death by a thousand dilations.

At that point you might be better off just making a new game and declaring DAV non-canon.fkirenicus wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2025, 18:05Bioware and DAV can still be saved if they make patch of about 100 GB that basically removes everything written or directed by Corinne Busche and Patrick Weekes (and any other writer with the same ideology). It wasn't Busche who lost EA a **** ton of money. EA execs are to blame, they should've restructured bioware ages ago. Bioware old guard devs are also to blame, they did jack **** for many years while at the same time staffing their studio with ******.RangerBoo wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2025, 23:27Knew that EA would fire Busche. Busche on the other hand have managed to take the piece of **** that was rotting in development hell for nearly a decade, and turn it into a stable, bugless, polished release. Yes, the game is also a woke monstrosity, but it would've been a woke monstrosity even if the development was headlined by some other guy. If anything, Busche did us all a favor by creating such a ridiculously woke game and thus further accelerating the societal shift. Pretty impressive work, considering we're talking about an unstable headcase who chopped his **** off.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

No no no... This game didn't miss expectations by 50%. EA expected this game to do as well as Baldur's Gate 3. EA was expecting 10 million copies sold. This was a massive **** up on EA and Bioware's part.

Probably that would have been their break even point, but even that seems a bit on the lower side.

It is somewhat cathartic to see these rich triple A or whatever else companies make games aiming to break even instead of shooting for a profit

I'll like to point out that there was more things in Dragon Age's favor than Baldur's Gate 3. Dragon Age is the more popular franchise and, unlike Baldur's Gate 3, was released on three consoles on launch while Baldur's Gate 3 was a PC exclusive in its first month. The fact that it didn't even get half the numbers that Baldur's Gate 3 did is a monumental failure on EA and Bioware's part. I don't even know where to begin with what they did wrong. The best I can sum up is everything.

They probably adjusted it multiple times leading up to release. For instance, you are not changing the name of your game if your pre-orders are on track. But them missing even the most unambitious target by far is indeed pretty funny.DagothGeas5 wrote: ↑ January 23rd, 2025, 02:10It is somewhat cathartic to see these rich triple A or whatever else companies make games aiming to break even instead of shooting for a profit![]()

I remember how after BG3 came out there were lots of articles and media noise about how BG3 shouldn't become the norm for future RPGs, most likely because Larian did put some genuine effort in that game despite the woke trash in it and the other dev studios wanted to keep being super lazy.
Yet these very same studios who refuse to put the same effort in their games as Larian did for BG3 still expect their slop to be as commercially successful as the very same game they were telling people shouldn't be compared to their own.

Not even Larian could make another BG3, as the Larian that made BG3 doesn't exist.UltraFan123 wrote: ↑ January 23rd, 2025, 03:08I remember how after BG3 came out there were lots of articles and media noise about how BG3 shouldn't become the norm for future RPGs, most likely because Larian did put some genuine effort in that game despite the woke trash in it and the other dev studios wanted to keep being super lazy.

BG3 sold great because it was essentially DOS3 + D&D. DOS1 and 2 were well regarded among the mainstream rpg crowd, and D&D is huge with normies thanks to The Critical Role. That's a winning combo.RangerBoo wrote: ↑ January 23rd, 2025, 02:16I'll like to point out that there was more things in Dragon Age's favor than Baldur's Gate 3.
Dragon Age, on the other hand, was a nearly dead franchise. Inquisition came out more than a decade ago, and a year after its release it got mogged by The Witcher 3 so hard people have retroactively changed their opinions. Nowadays the typical answer on DAI would be "uh it was an ok game but i hated the open world padding and wasn't able to finish it, witcher 3 is so much better". Not to mention the fact that Bioware has completely tanked their reputation and became a laughing stock.

it also has coop which seems to do a good job boosting sales, at least when it's not an afterthought, and larian puts a lot of effort into coop — probably more than any other 'singleplayer' game dev

Owlcat should take a few notes in how to do co-op properly.
