TrannyGuard sold worse than Star Wars Outlaws.
Reminder that Star Wars, as a brand, is basically dead but even a dead brand like Star Wars was able to have their game sell better than Trannyguard whose IP, up till recently, was still viewed favorably by normies. What a colossal ******* failure for Bioware.

Did not think there is anything else left to say about this game but apparently PC Gamer (of all the media!) found something. From PC Gamer online editor Fraser Brown who brought us in October (!) "With The Veilguard, Dragon Age has forgotten its dark fantasy roots and become BioWare's Avengers"
comes a new article: After years of holding out hope, 2024 was the year I finally gave up on BioWare:
... I'm beating a dead horse, I know. I've already said my piece. But it's just a real shame. When I got to the final cutscene that teased what we can expect from the next Dragon Age, it really sealed the deal. I'm out. BioWare just isn't telling stories I care about anymore. Instead of moping around, I'm moving on. BioWare had an exceptional run, but that developer is long gone. What's left is just an EA studio that makes middling games I'm not really interested in....

I've never been happier not to pay for a game. Honestly, from the moment I learned the Venatori (human mage supremacists) would team up with elven gods I already knew the writing would be dogshit.PixiGreen wrote: ↑ December 31st, 2024, 15:24Did not think there is anything else left to say about this game but apparently PC Gamer (of all the media!) found something. Made it to Bronze level on Steam last year, meaning it ranked between 51-100 in revenue last year. Here are some other bronze games for reference.

I am sure the usual idiots still find a way to spin it as major success.

I still think that's way more "success" than the game actually deserves tbh.1998 wrote: ↑ January 2nd, 2025, 08:20Made it to Bronze level on Steam last year, meaning it ranked between 51-100 in revenue last year. Here are some other bronze games for reference.

Holy ****! It got in the the same revenue bracket as It Takes Two which came out in 2021. EA would be ******* ******* if they allow Busche to lead a project again. This game lost EA a lot of money. Dragon Age was Bioware and EA's golden goose and they allowed a ****** to kill it and defile its corpse for the sake of DEI. If Bioware doesn't shutter due to this game then they will soon in the future if they allow Busche to keep leading their projects. Death by a thousand dilations.1998 wrote: ↑ January 2nd, 2025, 08:20Made it to Bronze level on Steam last year, meaning it ranked between 51-100 in revenue last year. Bronze Revenue Tier: Games that achieve revenues between $20 million and $30 million.
So, they spent between $150 million and $250 million and, at very-very best, got back $60 million (if console sales are on par with Steam and we assume no returns).

I would assume the budget was on the higher end of the range based on how long it was in development. I hope they lost a gajillion dollars.PixiGreen wrote: ↑ January 2nd, 2025, 14:11Bronze Revenue Tier: Games that achieve revenues between $20 million and $30 million.

The way these companies do accounting, it's likely all the money spent before the 2021 reboot was already written off as a loss and not counting towards what Veilguard had to make to recoup its budget.cleansingcarnage wrote: ↑ January 2nd, 2025, 14:54I would assume the budget was on the higher end of the range based on how long it was in development. Even if the budget was 150 million, and we are extremely generous and give them three times the highest bracket for Bronze on Steam to account for total sales, so 90 million total sales including consoles and Steam, they are still at a huge loss of a whopping 60 million dollars. And that is the most generous assessment we could give them.
We know the game costed more and then there was the advertisement.
It's worth playing if you liked ME1, it captures some of that feel of adventure ME1 had.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 1st, 2024, 03:36It's not worth playing unless you really want to play a space sci-fi shooty pooty with RPG elements. A thoroughly mid game that got shredded by yewtoob reviewers to the point where you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a 2/10 game if you didn't play it.
I think that was the first big game that yewtoobers went all in on for clicks. It became divisive to do so once the reason for these games being **** was correctly considered political and ideological lines were drawn.
Main difference is andromeda had its dlc canceled, veil guard had no dlc planned.
The plot is fine, nothing inspired. But fine. The game is well programmed, no bugs, performs well on a potato, good gameplay and decent worldbuilding. Excellent music.
It's main problem is that there is not much roleplaying, even as there was little roleplaying in the ME series, you can't be anything but a hero. Dialogue choices are lacking, so you're relegated into being a good guy hero no matter what. It felt cozy and fun to play and more than anything it felt like a game the old Bioware would have made. Unlike ME2, ME3, and DAI
It made a similiar amount of money as TCG Card Shop Simulator, an early access game made on a $200 budget? That's outrageous!
TCG Card Shop deserves better.
TCG Card Shop deserves better.
Public announcement: ME2, DA2, ME3, and DAI are garbage
Thank you.
Also, you are an NPC if you think MEA is "bad" or has "performance issues". That is all.

They are leaving EA as well? Oh good. Maybe The Sims will become less pozzed now. Busche was the former lead dev of The Sims 4 and was the one putting in all the gross ****** and pronoun crap in that game. While I doubt things will improve much, however, knowing that they got shitcanned brings a smile to my face.

There's also rumors that EA is planning to nuke BioWare Edmonton in February. Let's hope 2025 gets off on a good start with massive BioWare layoffs.

I copy-pasted the article. Not a good excuse, of course, I know, but at least "she" does not imply the royal blood of that person. Granted, it is also applicable to "the person plus parasites inside", but I do not think that was the meaning. A singular "they" should go away with the rest of the SGW nonsense language.Cmdr Shepard wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2025, 13:46and? you literally wrote she/her when talking about corinne busche.PixiGreen wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2025, 13:09(How did I miss Irenaeus's post about that happy event?)
