Did you get them directly through GOG? Then issue a refund and get them on Steam quick.

just play the game with mouse and Keyboard, it is the intended way to play:

change to WASD and get rid of the sidestep, make A and D turn instead, the game is not made for strafing just ignore the feature.
If you have trouble aiming for specific enemies, just let go of the left mouse button, switch your camera so that you look straight at the enemy and press it again, the rest is done via the keyboard.

Also, my suggestion is skipping ranged combat altogether (just like most soft-skills aside from acrobatics) melee is better in all circumstances and you can use scrolls/runes if you really need too.

Just level one-handed and pump your strength to max, get scars blade or Lares axe (you can just knock out bandits without triggering a fight) and you can clear the map in chapter one.

It's a suggestion, of course, you don't need to follow it but I would recommend it.

EDIT: This was meant as a suggestion for the early to mid game, you can profit a lot from learning two-handed weapons due to some end-game shenanigans even before becoming a mage

it's "Waldbeere" in german, which literally translates to "forest Berry" which is an umbrella term for berries found in the woods, like raspberries and strawberries.

Funnily enough the Blaubeere, ergo blueberry is not part of that group:

Getting new armor in this feels better than most games
Not a survival game, but it has a survival vibe. Something as simple as armor or a good weapon puts you miles ahead of the pack.

Wanted to report back that, thus far, I am unsuccessful in making my gamepad work. I am starting to believe the issue lies with the gamepad itself (though it works for everything else) and will play using only the keyboard unless forced to use the mouse for any reason. Good thing is that I learned a lot on the way, so that's always nice!

Also, I find it weird that Gothic 2 starts with Nameless Hero saying stuff like "Feels like I've been under these rocks for weeks" but the end of the first game he said "As I defeated the Sleeper, I went outside to see the aftermath, the barrier was gone and my journey? Well that's for another time."

Did I install it wrong in some way, or does the fan translation leave the "blueberries" called as such?
Loving this game thus far. Got scared had to restart after I tried destroying the barrels and got stuck in a never-ending attack animation inside the thing. Every attack my character moved a bit to the right, so I was able to get out eventually after I found purchase and could stop the endless loop by jumping onto a rock, miss this type of stuff, adds to the experience in my opinion. Nowadays if a game bugs out it is just a crash and no fun workarounds to explore.

OpenGothic actually obeys the UI scaling option in SystemPack.ini, meaning the only real issue I had with it is solved. I don't know how it handles stuff added by mods or if it has any other issues. But it seems like it should be an option for those that have issues running the game?

Getting the Access Violation error no matter what I do.

EDIT: This is the only thing that made the game work for me.

Went ******* nuts trying to figure out the cemetery. You have to use a console command if it bugs out.

Not sure if it was the same issue, but I used to get access violation things and what solved it for me was to put this file https://github.com/GothicFixTeam/Gothic ... g/v1.9pre2 in the Gothic\system folder (it is a file called Vdfs32g.dll ), posting this for anyone having similar issues to give one more possible solution.

can't confirm, It worked well for me even though I am aware the place is incredibly buggy on the Original version.

EDIT: You have to find two scrolls, then go to the big room with the pavilion and stand there, the Baal should then interact with you. After you just need to go down a newly opened path.

I know of Alt+F4 but this one was new XD Very useful for when I will have to test the controller again

For a really long time I've heard that Gothic is a great game. I was curious but never had enough time for it. Some folks even said that it's a contender to Morrowind for a title of best yarrrPG evah.

To show you some little things that caught my eye, we begin with

All in all, I've tried the game for about an hour. And I think I'll cave and drop it. Because:

I'd say that it's not even close to Morrowind. Production quality is on par with Kenshi or something. Sad.
