Balatro has been a blast.
I've completed only 2 decks so far, but it's just so addicting!

I suspect this will be a lot more fun in another 10-15 years with competent AI agents.Tinky Winky wrote: ↑ December 31st, 2024, 04:29Same, now I set my own MMO private singleplayer servers for casual playing these days.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 31st, 2024, 03:42Used to be various MMOs but I no longer play any![]()

New Vegas is more familiar to me and feels more like home than any place I've ever lived.
KOTOR II as well especially taking in the ambiance on the Ebon Hawk.

This will sound super cliché but I usually play retro games like Super Mario World or Mario 64, as well as the GBA Pokémon games when I feel like playing something that doesn't require brain power.
Uncharted Waters: New Horizons, usually played on my phone. It benefits from nostalgia for me, but I think the game has a soothing quality of its own.

I'd just give myself top tier gears and modify exp rate, so I can skip all the grinding parts and go straight for a casual nostalgic trip.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 31st, 2024, 04:53I suspect this will be a lot more fun in another 10-15 years with competent AI agents.Tinky Winky wrote: ↑ December 31st, 2024, 04:29Same, now I set my own MMO private singleplayer servers for casual playing these days.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 31st, 2024, 03:42Used to be various MMOs but I no longer play any![]()

Without fail, Killer Instinct is usually what I'd consider a "go to chill game".
Close seconds are Hearts of Iron 3, Killer Instinct(SNES), and DBZ BT3.(all tied)

Total War Shogun II. I play a campaign at least every few months. Just something about the atmosphere of the game makes it extremely comfy, with it's beatiful art style, soundtrack and excellent gameplay. Getting into the main menu with the music already has me in a maximum comfy zone. One of my favourite games of all time as well, it's among the very few games I have always installed. Plus the nostalgia I have for when I was still at school and playing it for hours in my room is only matched with playing Vanilla WoW up to WotLK.
(Classic WoW might me a contender, but I don't play it as much anymore, if not only for the reason that you need a subscription for it)

It only feels that way because the UI absolutely overwhelms you with noise when you boot up and as a new player it will make you immediately discombobulated.Valter wrote: ↑ December 25th, 2024, 21:11In awe at you fellas that boot up a map painting game with intricate economic and warfare systems to "relax"
The first thing you do in any game is dismiss like 7 useless notifications that sound super important when you don't realize they don't matter to you.
I promise (CK2 especially) these games have deceptively simple economic and warfare systems. I didn't learn how trade worked at all in EUIV for like 3 years and it barely mattered. CK2 especially warfare boils down to don't have less troops than the other guy and don't attack someone camping on mountains.
When I first got the game because a friend begged me to I was so ****** because the game was so complicated to me and I would obviously never learn it and wasted my money. I've got 2k+ hours in it now lel
