JA3 seems to have an improbable number of female mercenaries
Anyone played it?
32 Male Mercenaries
10 Female Mercenaries
Ratio is pretty much the same as the previous entry.
90s liberal
That's not even close to the total JA2 roster. This is 1.13, I can't find a similar spreadsheet for vanilla JA2 but the gender ratio doesn't change much either way.
16 female, 114 male from a quick look. And I don't know if this is even the full roster.

I mean this nonsensical "90s woke" argument never made any sense but for the purpose of the curated list which is way more stringent than Twigs one this is not even the question.
Resident Anti-feminist MRA, Race-mixer and no I'm not woke and not gay. Married with children, My writing style is shit, live with it or ignore me.
The spreadsheet in my post. You can crosscheck the wiki, you don't have access to all the mercs.
This mod of yours is using every mercenary from every Jagged Alliance game from JA1 to Deadly Games to JA2 and its expansions and the SOG'69 mod. That's not an actual game that Sir-Tech made and of course a new game isn't going to have a roster like that.

Even if it's not, that's still enough to warrant a change in rating. I read the biographies for all the female mercenaries and most of them are absurd feminist fantasies. Jagged Alliance 2 and 3 have been updated to not recommended and Jagged Alliance 1 has been added as not recommended.
Long history of games calling themselves RPG because it's one of the more lucrative genres. See also: disco communism
Especially around that time all kind of games got relabeled as RPGs, or XXX game with RPG elements. Essentially any game that added some sort of character progression besides just adding new equipment.

It has everything that makes up an RPG. You can create your own merc, leveling, NPCs to talk to and get sidequests from, the choice of acting friendly, direct, or threatening.

The first Jagged Alliance also called itself a role-playing game and this was in 1995 when every game journalist was saying RPGs were a dead genre (nothing but ****** Dungeon Master clones for the most part, no big hits for years).

I don't remember, it's possible I guess. But if we are to compare box art

"Strategic Simulation"
Amusingly appears to have been advertised as an RPG in USA and a strategy game in the UK, likely reflecting market sensibilities.
Genre-fluid

Modern assassins creed games being cold RPG by developers but it doesn't make them rpg games. It is bad practice to trust developers on genre of a game.

Odyssey is about as much of an RPG as Witcher 3, as it's very close to Witcher 3 in most ways.
Some think Witcher 3 isn't much of one at all… I'm not sure I'd go that far, but it definitely is close to "action game with RPG elements".

RPGs are a subset of simulations, so that doesn't really preclude its being an RPG.

They walk hand and hand, just read the old 80s gaming mags.
