(Nobody wants to play as an uggo of course, but when you work on a game for years as a woman you feel inadequate if the fictional character model is attractive. Many such documented cases. ***** individuals feel the exact same, see: Fable trailer.)
When the number of women + men who want sex from them working on a game hits a critical mass this coded feedback is forced into the product.

Yeah, people who say it's a technical limitation are spouting **** that's not true.
Chuds can fix faces in games (and sometimes cinematics too) with limited tools, sometimes no tools.
It's a purposely done action. Specifically because they hate attractive people.

The very first trailer for The Witcher 3 is just as different as the game itself, so take a look for yourself.
So MAYBE Ciri will look different in the game, maybe better.
Although I'd expect the final in-game model to be an improvement over this (at least likeness-wise), it is important to show fan discontent. Previous trailers did not share engines with their respective games (the Witcher 4 Cinematic Trailer was made in UE5) and Platige made their "realistic" Geralt using the in-game model as a base, thus if you take Ciri's new voice actress into account:
It is very likely that CDPR originally planned to use that (probably less-detailed version of the) facescan as their in-game model...a common practice for major AAA studios these days due to mocap laziness. At least they have enough time between the fan reaction and the expected release date (2026) to modify Ciri's appearance.

As I said, these next couple of years are going to be rough on the Western games industry. I expect that 2025-2026 will be the year that we will start to see companies like Tencent or other Chinese subsidiaries begin to buy off all these game studios that have failed due to DEI.

W3 Geralt is supposed to be around 100. Ciri is 19-23, so W4 Ciri is ~30 at most. CDPR could argue that she aged normally (despite her Elder blood) until she went through Witcher mutations and thus that is how a post-wall medieval woman should look in [current year]!
It's not even the looks that are the worst part. It's that with how OP her powers are in the lore, she might just be the first character ever that actually has powers to "back up" all the annoying girlbossing and "sass" that's inevitably going to come . And there's going to be a lot of it.

No, they scanned biological female members of the dev team for MJ and Black Cat.
I think it needs to be said that judging pre-rendered cutscenes isn't reasonable, at least when it comes to quality of faces. Pre-rendered Geralt from the Witcher 3 trailers didn't look like his in-game model.
An even better example than Geralt would be Morrigan in Dragon Age Inquisition. In the pre-rendered trailers she looked fugly as all hell. Meanwhile her in-game model is arguably the best she's ever looked, even a decade older than in Origins and with the weird oily Inquisition skin texture.
