They've been dismantling Bioware over time. Montreal got shuttered after Andromeda's failure. TOR was moved to Broadsword. Edmonton had some pretty deep layoffs last year, losing a lot of senior staff. My prediction is that after Veilguard flops, there will be more big layoffs, anyone who isn't necessary for the next Mass Effect. DA will finally be a dead franchise.wndrbr wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 13:29fabulously optimistic.logincrash wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 12:44Hopefully by Christmas. It'd be a really good gift from EA.
Dragon Age Deadname will likely flop, but Bioware is going to keep tagging along. They are somehow invulnerable. Some higher-up at Bioware probably has a nuclear blackmail material on EA's executives, I don't see any other reason for them to still exist to this day, yet they do.

I thought the reason for Baldur's Gate 3's degeneracy was on account of Wizards of the Coast's involvement, but this Michael sounds like a right ******. It's ovER for Larian then because once you let one weirdo in, you have opened the door for all of them.Rand wrote: ↑ October 29th, 2024, 12:11Yep. The lead dev wanted it to be degenerate and disgusting alphabet nonsense, and it sure is.Faceless_Sentinel wrote: ↑ October 29th, 2024, 11:30Larian's publishing chief Michael Douse has been playing The Veilguard alongside reviewers for the last few weeks and went on X to call it "the first Dragon Age game that truly knows what it wants to be."
But Douse is a stupid *******. Origins wanted to be a dark fantasy RPG and nailed it. Also was a decent game, unlike FailHard.
I love Origins, one of my favourite games of all time with how much of a villain the game allows you to be. Even in DA2 the game would give you the option to some really based stuff (Fenris hahaha). But by the time Inquisition came around, BioWare had already become soy and evil choices were no longer a thing. At least you could be somewhat homophobic against Dorian in his side quest where you had to set up a meeting between Dorian and his disapproving father lol.
Inquisition still manages to look better than The Veilguard despite being 10 years old. How? Female developers and mentally-ill team leaders

"Laws of economics" says that good products will be successful on free market and bad products will fail. Who would of though that stupid customer and smart marketing team would **** up all "economic laws* once again.Unhelpful Contrarian wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 16:30You say this but it always wins in the end.
Not gonna lie, I think that was a very good way to implement a system were your choices actually do matter in-story, and now I wish this was more widespread in other games.logincrash wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 11:40You gain Friend points when you agree and reinforce your companions' points of view on something. But when you gain Rivalry points, you influence them to change their ways. And all the companions are either batshit insane or degenerate.Rand wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 10:43Why?logincrash wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 10:09So I can confidently say that every romancible companion is better when you have 100% Rivalry with them.
- Anders at 100% Friendship is absolutely sure of his plan to 9/11 the Kirkwall Chantry to stick it to the Templars. At 100% Rivalry, he's a victim of possession too tormented and physically exhausted to resist a demon that's puppeteering his body. He tries to stop it, but fails.
- Merrill is a ******** blood mage who tries to restore a tainted magic mirror that already caused two deaths of her clansmen. At 100% Friendship, her blood magic ritual causes the death of her clan. At 100% Rivalry, you rightly call out her retardation and stop it.
- Isabela is a ***** of massive proportions. At 100% Friendship, you let her continue sleep around and drink and steal. At 100% Rivalry, she agrees to settle down and stops slutting around, albeit reluctantly.
- Fenris is an escaped slave with a raging hateboner for mages and magic. While that does sound extremely based, his 100% Friendship romance is just boring. His 100% Rivalry is "I wish I knew how to quit you, mageHawke-sama" kino.
So, most of the time Rivalry is just the companions having a proper character arc.
- Fifth romancible companion is from a DLC and he's the only straight one of them. He's a balding Oirishman who used to manwhore around but is a hardcore no-sex-before-marriage tradCatholic by the time you meet him. Honestly, his story is pretty good - an exiled prince (the name of the DLC) who avenges his slain family. At 100% Friendship he stays with the Chantry, but at 100% Rivalry he takes his rightful place as the ruler of his city-state.
Another case of the enemy eating itself, and its becoming more common as of late.Xenich wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 15:22LOL

See, Corypheus and the darkspawn are right: Thedas needs to be cleansed and brought under the control. Once again the "good guys" fought the wrong enemy.

Big doubt. Act 1 and most of Act 2 is at least competently written, and some good parts were obviously cut very late in development.Roguey wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 16:49Larian's writers since Original Sin 2 have been women and queers.Rezeren wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 15:59I thought the reason for Baldur's Gate 3 degeneracy was on account of Wizards of the Coast's involvement, but this Michael sounds like a right ******.

There's one of the Larian bears and several of the writing team cackling that they were called the "seven man **** squad" by a degenerate bisexual on another edgy forum.
Somehow I don't think those numbers are correct.7Trickster wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 17:40Steam players are true dung-eaters, Wokeguard 3rd place LOL. How ******** and oblivious do you have to be to buy a Bioware game without verifying if it's good first ?

I could be wrong, but to see the level of manipulation on the jurnos, the coordination to shut down and demote any negative about the game through many sources... well... I wouldn't be surprised if there are... "manipulations" being done there as well.
BG3 made sense because a lot of people got suckered with EA's bait and switch for release.
People know about this game upfront, and it isn't simply the "woke" aspect that turns a lot of people off.
Something is... well... amiss. It doesn't add up.
TEN ******* YEARS and...this slop is what I get? After 10 year of waiting I have to see the curvy FEMALE Qunari lady from the concept art turned into a They/Them? I ******* called it too, the reason they were barely showing anything about Taash right up until release. From the moment 'Corrine' Busch insisted that ALL the companions weren't player-sexual they were PAN-sexual I knew, I knew in my ******* gut this was going to be a degenerate disaster.
EA can copyright strike all it wants, the game comes out tomorrow. I've lost all respect for Mortismal, Slandered Gaming, and Renfail.
Dragon Age II was slapped together in like, what, 14 months? It accounted for 20-ish choices from the previous game. Inquisition took into account a similar number across two games. TEN YEARS and I get THREE choices taken into account, can't escape or ignore they/them PRONOUN ********, and have to watch Isabella do a ******* STRUGGLE SESSION?!!
I hate gay race communism. I hate Blackrock and Vanguard. I hate the Synagogue of Satan.
I'll be playing Origins on release day. I MIGHT get this, when it's 60-80% off in a few months and some mods to make it somewhat bearable are available. Maybe, though now...very unlikely.
God, I hate feeling like I wasted ten years waiting for an epic conclusion to this story arc about Solas, the Black City, and the Fade. 'Trick' Weekes and his pet elf can be remembered as the final nail in EaWare's coffin. **** 'em.

You son of a *****, I was with you right up until this point. Why the **** would you even consider giving them your cash? Just pirate it if you have to torment yourself with this because of the sunk cost fallacy (like I will). They said they're not gonna have Denuvo, so it's gonna be a cake walk to torrent it.TheEmptyRoad wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 18:38I MIGHT get this, when it's 60-80% off in a few months and some mods to make it somewhat bearable are available.

Given the amount of advance praise this turd got I wouldn't be surprised to find that EA put its thumb (and money) on the scale.
Let's see how long they can keep it up versus word of mouth.

Not what you're referring to with this game being off and the coordinated response against criticism, but that reminds me the other reason I never finished DA2 and DAI years ago: the gameplay stunk. Bad gameplay, bad writing, bad characters, bad art and level design. DAO's writing and setting were nothing special really, they were cliché but serviceable, but it was everything combined and the all around good craftsmanship that worked together to make it a good RPG. DA2 and DAI, it was the opposite way around, and the whole package that turned me off of them with it all ranging from mediocre to suckage.Xenich wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 18:29People know about this game upfront, and it isn't simply the "woke" aspect that turns a lot of people off.
First thing I remember thinking after giving DA2 a pirate and loading up my Biowarez was WTF happened to combat and gameplay? I went from playing a mage with decent (if easy) RTWP combat, being able to set tactics for my party members in a nice menu and with a lot of options for how to build (+ mage had a battle mage subclass, which I'm a sucker for), to it feeling like single player MMO combat where I twirl around and shoot stuff with a magic staff rather than cast spells or have any strategy. DAI seemed slightly more interesting in the little I played in story, but in gameplay was even worse and doubled down on feeling like a MMO not only in combat, but complete with massive zones full of fetch quests. Barely got past its first area before I gave up on it. Both also sucked on PC and felt like console games.
If not for the brand name DAO established, no one would have cared about either of them. Somehow I doubt this game has anything fun about it either. Woke game = bad game. Making someone play through this one will probably be a future CIA torture technique used to teach Muslims English and drive them to suicide once they understand it.
I think they are going all in to scam people and they don't care about the consequences as they will still close down the studio anyway. I think this is just to recover as much money as they can because they know this will flop hard.SoLong wrote: ↑ October 30th, 2024, 19:00Given the amount of advance praise this turd got I wouldn't be surprised to find that EA put its thumb (and money) on the scale.
