This new Guardians of the Galaxy film can't have been cheap and I'm not sure that banking on hot sauce being core to the plot produced the desired effect.

Tags on steam are basically advertisments. LGBTWTFBBQLOL+ is already a red flag, in combination with Political there is no chance the game can even be modded to be better.
It's still a conspiracy theory but apparently the tags were updoot by the community and then the devs removed it?SoLong wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 15:20Tags on steam are basically advertisments. Not sure if it's true though - I dunno if steam allows that. The funny part of this is how quickly Sony was willing to dump DEI into the toilet when it affected their bottom line - if it's true.

That's how it usually works, I think. Anybody can add tags - that's why they are generally useless.Shillitron wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 15:44It's still a conspiracy theory but apparently the tags were updoot by the community and then the devs removed it?SoLong wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 15:20Tags on steam are basically advertisments. Do you all think this game will stay dead, or will they attempt to remake it to make it "good"? To be honest, for this game to become good, it would need such extensive reworking that it might be better to just create an entirely new game. There's no way they can pull off a Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn-style revival with this mess. If they do try to revive it, I hope they consider developing a single-player campaign to utilize their lore, with the single-player component being a paid experience and the multiplayer a standalone free-to-play game.
But let's be honest—Sony will probably just let it languish in obscurity, forgotten like a slice of cheese in the frigde you find 4 to 5 years later and end up throwing away.

I actually like the ****** tag. Only one I ignore and can be sure not to miss anything.SoLong wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 15:20Tags on steam are basically advertisments. They might reuse the code / engine..? but I think the IP / Name is dead. It's pr is in the toilet.Daxa wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 16:09Do you all think this game will stay dead, or will they attempt to remake it to make it "good"? I think the game type will change too.. Hero Shooter was a good idea 8 years ago.. now it's a saturated and flooded market. Overwatch and Paladins are already dying and Valve & Marvel are about to drop two more competitors.
EDIT
Also Riot and several other competitors are in this space. Every time a low effort high microtransaction game concept rears it's head you've got every company clamoring trying to squeeze profits off it as much as possible.

Concord and its limited edition controller have pretty much become collector items on eBay.

I can kind of see the appeal. This game is probably the biggest disaster in gaming history and there are PlayStation fanboys out there that make it an effort to collect all of the hard copies of every PlayStation game ever made. This game will probably be as collectable as the old ET for Atari games are.

Most manly men still got gigavaxxed because some gay technocrat told them to or they're afraid of a microbe or both, which makes them gigacucks.RangerBoo wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 03:58Concord and all this other DEI slop that have failed this year is proof that the future is not indeed not female and gay like libshits so hoped it would be. Turns out that the future is still very male and very heterosexual. The cope over this has been really entertaining. Better entertainment than the DEI slop they have made.

Honestly, I like when Baizuos try a new IP instead of infecting a established IP. Imagine if Sony had called this **** "Killzone 4"...

I have been learning more and more about how much of a disaster this game is compared to ET for Atari. The ET game that caused the gaming crash of the 1980's still managed to sell 1 million copies. The game was basically developed by one guy in the span of a year and on the budget of a potato. Concord spent 8 years in development, had hundreds of people working on it with many of them being industry veterans, had a estimated cost of half a billion dollars and the game couldn't sell 50k copies. Words can not express what a colossal **** up this is. The fact that Sony had faith in this title just blows my mind.

That only happened for two reasons:
Final Fantasy was Square's flagship franchise, and by 2010 the franchise's reputation was in dire straits. Sakaguchi, Takahashi, Uematsu, Matsuno, Minaba, and other famous talent were gone. The series was no longer releasing a brand new mainline game each year like it was doing in the 90s, and fans were becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the new releases as they strayed further and further from what fans wanted. Maintaining the brand integrity of the flagship franchise was essential. Also, Japanese pride was at play here.
During the 2000s, Square was being kept afloat by the subscription revenue from FF11, which Square had strangled by deliberately sabotaging its game design trying to get people to move over to FF14. People unsubbed from retail FF11 as it was no longer fun to play, and Square didn't have an alternative FF MMO for people to go to, so Square's revenue began plummeting. They needed a FF MMO to stay afloat, which means fixing FF14. The concept art and assets and lore made for FF14 could be reused, so it would be cheaper to simply redesign the game than to create a whole new game and model new assets and conjure up new lore from scratch.
Concord is not a flagship franchise that is the pride of Sony with a huge fanbase that is already invested in it. There is no renowned brand name that needs to be protected/rdeemed here. Nor is Sony in such dire straits that this is a game they are counting on to keep their company afloat.

They definitely blacklisted the tag, else it would have been there when people started adding joke tags to it. Same update that saw the LGBT tag removed also removed a bunch of others.Shillitron wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 15:44It's still a conspiracy theory but apparently the tags were updoot by the community and then the devs removed it?SoLong wrote: ↑ September 5th, 2024, 15:20Tags on steam are basically advertisments. Thinking on it now, it wasn't woke crap that caused this game to crash and burn. As people here have stated, there are plenty of games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Hogwarts Legacy that have woke elements in them but still sold millions and have a dedicated fanbase. Rather, this game crashed due to what can only be described as a perfect storm. You have a game that was made in a genre that is more or less on life support. The game cost $40 bucks when all other hero shooters, even Overwatch, are free to play. The character designs are some of the most unappealing designs ever made for a AAA game. You had the game being marketed on its LGBTQ+ politics at a time when support for the LGBTQ+ is at its lowest since Stonewall. The gameplay was cookie cutter with nothing that made it stand out from other hero shooters. The game also had too big of a budget with Sony stupidity buying the studio thinking this game would be the next big thing and wasting more money on CGI trailers and animation shorts.
Again, a perfect storm. The downfall of this game will be studied for years to come in art schools and business colleges on how not to make a video game. Amateur YouTube documentarians will be dissecting this game for years to come and trying to figure out what went wrong.

Doubt it. When I took video game history at college, they only talked about pre-2000 stuff. They talked about the first consoles, the Atari crash, and the rise of Nintendo, and even then it was only surface level trivia such as "this guy was an electrician who made consoles" or "Atari games were bad, so Nintendo came up with the Nintendo seal of quality". Nothing deeper than that such as the implications of the business, didn't even bring up that starting with the the PS1 that consoles are sold at a loss to try to lower the barrier of entry in the hopes that people will buys lots of games. They certainly didn't talk about the development hell of Duke Nukem Forever, or the business story behind Kingdoms of Amalur, let alone the many expensive WoW clones that died within months. It was when I took programming that one of my instructors who worked for a contractor brought up that mobile games you have never heard of are first given a limited release in certain territories as a test run to see whether or not they will be profitable. If not then the cord is pulled immediately with little money lost, if so then they proceed with formally publishing it in the States and pouring lots of money into user acquisition with advertisements.RangerBoo wrote: ↑ September 6th, 2024, 03:41The downfall of this game will be studied for years to come

Unless it's something like hard science, law, or math, odds are you can learn way more just using the internet than a course at university.

From the atmosphere and feeling yeah, but it was clunky as **** and archaic. I'd play it if they just made it less annoying to navigate. I mean XI is older and navigating it is easy.

Most definitely. Though atleast warcraft has some flexibility in regards of classes and such and if you dislike modern wow you still have classic and private servers, which xiv doesn't have. I mean old xiv probably had no flexibility regarding classes but atleast each skill and abilities was crucial to your survival.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 6th, 2024, 06:43better than it being a soulless late-era WoW clone

People lose primary characteristics of sexual dimorphism the fatter they get. They just get closer to a tub of lard. That's why the term "genderblob" is so surprisingly apropos when describing the progressive stack *******.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 6th, 2024, 04:39Daw is meant to be an obese man, btw.
