The game was forgettable. No point mentioning it.Oyster Sauce wrote: β August 8th, 2024, 13:36I feel like you forgot to mention a game he recently directed
The first picture makes sense, but I don't see how I'm going to be able to kick that robot off the ledge. It looks too heavy.
These days you can't just have a rockstar developer, you need a rockstar team. I say "these days" but really, you've been needing a good team for two decades now. Give me more about the team under him, and I might become convinced.
Enhance!

I'll likely play it anyway, but don't know how anyone can get excited for a couple of bullshots. Just start teasing your game when you have actually something to show, please.

Yeah, this game has a shot at being decent at best...Roguey wrote: β August 8th, 2024, 15:37https://www.mobygames.com/game/182174/w ... tform=trueRigwort wrote: β August 8th, 2024, 14:10These days you can't just have a rockstar developer, you need a rockstar team. I liked Woke West but the combat was way too fast and chaotic. They learned from that and are sticking with their lane of first person perspective.
Helps that they also acknowledged that the procedurally-generated content in Woke West wasn't that compelling and are leaning more towards hand-crafted this time as well.

It was repetitive and unbalanced, with ridiculously underpowered melee. But fast and chaotic...I don't know. I thought combat was pretty easy to read and beat.Roguey wrote: β August 8th, 2024, 16:00I liked Woke West but the combat was way too fast and chaotic. That was one of the real issues. If you are essentially replaying the first areas 2-3 hours in, now that's a problem.Roguey wrote: β August 8th, 2024, 16:00Helps that they also acknowledged that the procedurally-generated content in Woke West wasn't that compelling and are leaning more towards hand-crafted this time as well.

it's going to be more of an RPG than Dishonored/Prey/DMoM&M.creative director Raphael Colantonio and executive producer Julien Roby stated that both game's gameplay and art direction are intended to be "something like Fallout meets Dishonored".
"That's where we want to be, we want to be in that space," Colantonio said. "If there is such a thing as a continuum between Fallout and Dishonored, I would say Prey is somewhere in the middle because it's already more RPG than Dishonored, and this new game is somewhere closer to Fallout, as far as the RPG-ness goes."
That means you can expect "a lot of [quest objectives] such as 'investigate about this thing, infiltrate that building'," Colantonio explains, "but with any approach you want." This can range from "very, very direct" approaches, perhaps utilizing the new weapon mods WolfEye are making for this game, or "more indirect" methods, such as talking your way in or out of a scenario with the game's speech options. All classic RPG fare, in other words, which Colantonio and Roby hope will "add even more layers of possibilities [to the game], which is really what we've always been about."
"I love personally RPGs that fall back on their feet when you shoot them between the eyes, for example," Colantonio says. "Games from Obsidian are pretty good at that, and that's that zone that we're hitting in this game."
The world will be "continuous", too, allowing players to "go anywhere" and "kill anyone you want", Colantonio adds. He doesn't ever mention the words 'open world', mind, but I get the feeling it will at least be more connected than the discrete locations of Weird West, for example.

It's an ambitious step-up for this entirely remote team, but throughout our conversation, Colantonio and Roby are both keen to emphasise how many former Arkane developers are now working at WolfEye - including Prey's lead visual designer and Dishonored level artist Emmanuel Petit, who's now the art director on this new project. They have also been able to hire a handful of Arkane Austin developers following that studio's closure earlier in the year, though Colantonio states that "we had done most of our growth before" over the last couple of years. Still, working with so many former colleagues from across their respective careers "makes things a lot easier," says Roby, and Colantonio agrees. "It's the same formation of people [from Prey and Dishonored] who are now with us, so we already know what we're doing," he says.
That said, the studio's headcount still only numbers between 55-60 people, according to Roby, and the challenge will be "trying to keep the game within a scope that allows for the team to be that size and not too much beyond," he says.
Seems a tad ambitious to be pursuing a first person view on a (presumably) modest budget. Scifi, out in the open etc. I'd be more excited if they were making a successor to Arx.

Are you guys serious here? Redfall never happened in your dimension? 70% of the people that worked on Prey were gone before Redfall released. Iirc some of the devs themselves hoped Redfall would be cancelled because the mismanagement was so bad.Faceless_Sentinel wrote: β August 9th, 2024, 09:19Are you guys serious here? Dark Messiah was made by a team of roughly the same size. Arx had an even smaller team.Element wrote: β August 9th, 2024, 09:09Seems a tad ambitious to be pursuing a first person view on a (presumably) modest budget. Is there any chance a small company like this wouldn't be tempted to accept DEI money?. We know from Baldur's Gate 3 that even the most ardent alt-righter will put up with anything so long as the game is "good".
