You know what I noticed about the game recently?
Some of the NPC names are ******* atrocious.
Like the mercenary Arfur Gregorio hired: Zenovia Dawg. Why the **** does her name sound like some dragqueen ******'s stage name?
I had the displeasure of going to reddit but here are more **** names from npcs
Blunt Skuncher, Hunkers Boolean, Sauceman Chorizo, Flansy Thornwhist, Zumbo Pumbo, Fank, Muttonchomps Oreely, Grimbus, Gleeful Clong, Funglesby, Thodric Shedeever, And my personal favorite, Bunt Chugley, also Vicar Humbletoes, Oyster Boy Dringo,
Would it be impossible to change npc names without it breaking anything?

Sauceman Chorizo?
No WAY this is real! I mean, I believe you but this one of those joke names that are only included in games due to kickstarter backer rewards of the highest tiers. But, this game didn't had that... So, the fact that the writers thought this was a good idea its just representative of the piece of **** the writing of this entire game is.

Yes, unfortunately the belgian ******* thought naming npcs this way was a good idea. I miss the old dnd names since these are on par for current day dnd.
Can I ask if it may be possible to have separated files for important npcs such as Ravengard or Ketheric ? Because I already use mods to change their appearance so it would certainly conflict with yours. I hope that's not too much to ask.
I think for main NPCs, we will have those as separate modules. So no worries

Doable. we'll think up some names once we're done changing races etc.
Victors clap when others succeed; Losers feel every spotlight as a personal bleed.

I feel like by act 3, Larian had totally thrown out what racial mix up made sense for the setting. And I mean stuff like representing Elves vs Humans, not blacks lmao
At least in Elder Scrolls, the provinces are predominantly what makes sense (Imperials in Cyrodiil, Nords in Skyrim, Dunmer for Morrowind), but I think Larian just put a shitton of random races in the city to try and up the "fantasy" feel. When really it's just immersion breaking and makes the world feel hollow.

Skyrim is less than 50% Nord
kinda makes sense when you realize skyrim is actively at war with the empire
I noticed the test room in the first page, is modding for this game progressing to the point where it is possible to make custom places? I hope it will be possible to completely demolish what they did and build a game on its ashes using their system.

Lore made the test room then added mud to run on, with no texture or environmental elements. Without a tool to drag and drop environmental detail, i don't see this being feasible on a large scale to be honest.

Thank you for the info! Incredible work regardless!
I just hope we can at least get to the point where we can create cinematics and choice/dialogues.

Not sure about cinematics, but a took to change dialogue choices should be possible

Made quite a bit of progress of automating subrace and gender specific color changes for hair, eyes, skin. As well as gender/ subtract specific hairstyles and beards. Here's a little preview for highelves (not showing changes in head models). FYI only orcs will get dreadlocks among playable races
The script picked up hundreds of NPCs with with not so lore friendly aesthetics. @Silver's doing the color/style choosing. I've been doing the programming.
Still a few kinks to work out like hair on a lobotomised elf, and vampire spawn still retaining old skin color.

Xanathar's Guide to Everything has a section with name recommendations for all the races. I've uploaded the sourcebook to catbox if you want to take a look at it.
Everytime I remember playing the game the first time without mods my first thought springs to mind: "Why the **** are there so many beardless dwarves?!?"
