Q: Why do our characters only have 3 abilities?

A: 90% of the budget got eaten up by reactivity in dialogue / quests to the 14 different genders you can be.

Seriously, they invested more effort in respecting your gender / pronouns / sexual preferences than they did your background / race / lore decisions. You can't even do a save import anymore.

It's over.

DA:O was a PC game that was ported to consoles. They delayed the PC release of Origins by a few months so they could both be released at the same time.
That makes sense. Most games that were console made then ported to PC back then were absolutely horrible for input systems and I don't remember DA:O being a nightmare in that regard. I would remember, that crap used to infuriate me.

Seriously? I don't know how many people are on the ******* Bioware Discord but I refuse to believe that there weren't more interesting questions than "****** tho", "gender tho" and "can I nag NPCs about my gender".

This game is going to be absolutely putrid.

Narcissism. It was never about just being left alone to their own. It is the same with gays. First it was "We just want to be left alone", then it was "We just want to be married like anyone else", to "Bake my cake and hold our service Christian!" to "lets have a parade and pride month where people can worship us" and finally... "let us molest your kids with obscene books and strip shows". Next it will be "If you don't date a *****, you are a criminal and should be arrested!".

Nothing infuriates a *** more than being ignored.

I wonder if games like this are going to finally make devs and publishers realize that all this pronoun **** is just a waste of money. Games are now starting to have massive budgets due to having to add pronoun **** into the game to please the minority of mentally ill people on Twitter and Reddit. Baldur's Gate 3 could have been made for under 100 mil if they didn't add the pronoun **** into the game. There is no need for any of this. It is just money that is being wasted to please 0.1% of people.

The whole pronoun thing never not makes me laugh because nobody likes it. The only people I know of that use pronouns are women and even then it is a very small minority. Case in point, in my English class there were 27 students. 20 of them women. Of those 20 women only 3 used pronouns and only 1 of them used She/They pronouns. I can't help but be reminded of what the Halo Composer Martin O'Donnell stated. In that most devs don't really believe in this stuff but they are forced to add these things like pronouns and what not due to (((special interest groups))) breathing down their necks and creating a culture of fear that if they don't add what they want they will pull funding and make them all lose their jobs. In short:

The recent changes to the current edition of the Pathfinder tabletop game likewise replced "Race" with "Ancestry". lol

Also, they pulled a WotC and removed the static bonuses and penalties to all races in order to replace them with customization rules that makes any race you pick pretty much pointless since you can now be a physically weak but kinda charismatic orc if you ever feel like playing as a green twink.

"You can play any of the countless 'ancestries' you want, none of them matter!"
- Paizo and WotC, currently.

Guys, Disney is a public company, you can actually see their assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses. They currently have 91 billion in liabilities, over 200 billion in assets. They'll be around for a while yet.
That's accounting.

Estimated values of different branches, growth predictions, and so on. In reality if they had to pay off their debts now, it is unlikely that they'd even be able to sell everything for more than 91 billion dollars. 200 billion dollar asset estimate is *best case scenario*.

You'd know this if you had a job, ran a company or invested.

DAO was a console game, I recall friends playing it on console
It was ported to consoles, but not a console game. It had to be streamlined for consoles and it wasn't easy.

RPGFan: Now, this is the first time that BioWare releases a console version of a game at the same time as the PC version. It's also the first time developing for the PS3 console. How difficult was it to juggle all these new elements into a development cycle?
Mike Laidlaw: Pretty **** hard! It's a lot of work. I mean, the thing is, it's a lot of work to fit something this big into a console quite frankly. The other thing also is that you don't have the luxury of adjusting according to how well the first version was received, like "oh, people didn't really like this part so let's tweak it for the console version". This time we're firing up a little blind. But, the nice thing is that as a company we have the experience of Mass Effect moving to the PC and Jade Empire moving to PC so we've kinda learned those lessons of how the reviewers reacted to these ports... and we've called in guys from Mass Effect and asked them what they'd do given our situation and we went back and forth with discussions, did some focus testing, etc. To be honest, this is actually one of the advantages of working with EA is that they have usability labs, focus test access and things like that which we didn't really have when we were just working as BioWare so it's very cool to see that and very challenging but at the same time I think it's really worth it because our goal is to make a landmark in fantasy RPGs and if you're gonna do that, you gotta aim high, aim at the whole audience if you can.

RPGFan: What are some of the differences in terms of control between the PC and console versions? How did you manage to like tone it down from the PC?
Mike Laidlaw: Well, we took a giant hammer and... *laughs*, no, actually the challenge for us I think was getting that long quickbar from the PC version with tons of spells and abilities and getting that to a point where it's still really quickly accessible even though you only have about a few buttons. So we ended up creating a hybrid where you have 6 abilities mapped that you can quickly get to and we have a radial menu that you can bring up and access everything else that you can do, every action you can possibly take. So, those 6 main actions (abilities, spells or items) can be mapped by the player to quick one-button access while the rest is accessible in a few more button presses. So, yeah it's a little slower than the PC version but it can easily be customized so you have your more important spells or abilities at your fingertips.

I think people in the entertainment industry know now that the "modern audience" is a myth but at this point they don't care. I think they are at the point now that they just want to **** people off and make all these IP's burn. It is like a child on the playground that gets ****** at the other kids for not liking his ideas so he proceeds to break all their toys in response. It is so petty but their pettiness is also funny.

Not only they don't care, they revel in it, and their bosses tell them to make really bad content, because the guys with the money investing want really bad content for propaganda purposes (shitlibs, ****, etc).

The thing is is that it is not even good propaganda. Say what you will about the Soviets' but their propaganda was at least effective to a degree. During the 50's the US was making propaganda to dissuade people from communism with posters of happy nuclear families having picnics on the 4th of July, children carrying flags, soldiers looking proud, etc. The Soviets' looked at that were like; "We'll match you Yanks!", so they made posters of happy nuclear families working the fields, children surrounding Stalin as if he were a father figure, and soldiers looking proudly at Mother Russia. Communist propaganda today is lame, ugly, fat and gay. It doesn't inspire anybody to the cause of communism or social justice. It just makes people physically ill and repulsed. I think at this point these developers, writers, producers and their investors don't care anymore about "The Message". I know that a lot of culture war YouTubers like to play that clip from The Dark Knight where the Joker burns a pile of money and states: "It's not about the money, it's about sending a message." but it is not even that anymore. Instead it is these writers, producers, developers and investors vindictively burning a pile of money and yelling; "**** you!" to everybody. Everything is just driven by spite and pettiness now.

You can drag the bar out to the end of the screen
