For discussing role-playing video games, you know, the ones with combat.

I don't mean as a steed you ride in combat. :turtle:

The Last Guardian. Trico can attack the stonemen independent of you being on him.

You can ride caragors and graugrs and flying dragon/wyvern things in Shadow of Mordor games. If you charge into an army of orcs and jump off, the mount will keep killing while you're carving up orcs with your sword.

The riding mechanics of Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous are alright for the most part.

However, your mount only attacks the enemy you are attacking right in front of you, which means that mounted combat only works when you are using a melee weapon.

You can't use a bow or a long-range spell to snipe an enemy from afar while your mount eviscerates another enemy that's near you, which is kinda lame.

The mount can only attack a different target when you aren't riding it, which at that point it's just another animal companion that plenty of CRPG have already made.

I love M&B Warband - Warsword Conquest and Bannerlord - The Old realms, but the fact that your demigryphs don't attack is bad. I can only say Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous. MAybe UnderRail jetskis that come with weapons, if you "force" the definition of mount.

Ultima Online. Ordinary horses don't fight so great, but things like nightmares, ki-rins, and unicorns can kick all kinds of ***. Or used to.

WarCraft 3 had Night Elf hippogryphs that could mount and dismount archer units, they would be effective melee range anti-air units when not mounted.

Not exactly a "mount", but in Dungeon Siege your pack mules fight alongside you.

Conan Exiles where you can train pets and horses, and Final Fantasy XIV where Chocobos (yellow rideable birds) can be trained as tanks, healers, or DPS come to mind.

I honestly don't know any others. Odd we never had some kind of dragon rider game or something? I could've sworn I read something about a game like that years ago, but the name escapes me.

Factorio. Spidertrons auto-attack with their built-in weapon even if you dismount.

Draken series of games. I remember them being incredible tho I haven't played them in years.

The dragon can fight while you use your sword as I recall.
