What modern games have high visual clarity?

Post by rusty_shackleford »

I feel like I already made this thread but I can't find it

Bonus question:
What are examples of visual clarity done well in outdoors areas, while still looking visually appealing?
Extra bonus question:
Do you turn off foliage in games? I always do it in any game that has me collecting **** on the ground where it's obscured. In any unreal game you can just disable that in the config files because they use the UE foliage system.

Working so can't really do screenshots, but Armored Core 6 : Fires of Rubicon had ******* superb visuals.

I'm pretty sure everyone in DayZ (standalone) turned off foliage so you think you're crawling through tall grass all nice and hidden but to the other person they can just easily see you crawling across an open field.

I think flight sims would be the king, here.

*a category of game I consider the holy grail, because you can turn your desktop into a cockpit, for the right price. (And because my based, antinigger uncle used to yell at me for playing on his setup.)

Hate to keep bringing up WoW but the environments are not busy and you can pick out the small objects you're looking for to interact with. Really any game that does not go for an ultra realistic look. Combat with 25 characters throwing sparkles at a boss is another thing.

Gloomwood is pretty visually clear though it has a retro look.

Now imagine that game with yellow paint marking the (single) path through the game.

Cluttergang rise up. Environments should be as detailed as possible. TLOU2 was a beautiful game and the objects scattered everywhere didn't confuse or frighten me because I'm not an old man.

It's called 'greeble'. 3d artists are obsessed with adding clutter because in their mind it makes the game look more realistic. Nooo you can't just have an empty room, it looks 'unfinished'! You MUST add cracks to the walls, a water puddle in a corner, and a bunch of spraypaint cans and old newspapers lying around.

How about a nice table with a chair?

how about a table with a bunch of playing cards packs, an empty bottle, but a bunch of empty glass shots, someone's smartphone that looks like you can interact with it but nope it's actually just an uninteractable prop, and a readable note that also kinda looks like a playing card.

You mean 1992. Look at that screenshot, no clutter, no filters, just you, a wall to gauge depth, and a table. It's perfection.

I replayed Bloodlines with a reshade that made the game look like that, lmao.

This looks horrible, ******** and their obsession with PS2 graphical artifacting need to be put down so games can return to being nice to look at. Giving me a headache is not kino nostalgia, it's just unpleasant.

Yeah I mean, it's a King's Field copycat (if the name didn't give it away) so of course it's gonna be nice.

the UI looks like **** in my opinion, but it does look fun.

I just don't think it's horrible and I've seen multiple games that I liked or at the very least thought were soulful and pretty that had it. It being like that doesn't affect whether or not it can look nice, anyone claiming otherwise is being performative

Calling opinions you dislike "performative" is not making this style any more endearing in my eyes. You are welcome to terrible aesthetic choices, I'm clearly not playing these games.
