Apparently Larian just released a "Modding naturals" mod for Baldur's Gate 3 and I don't know what that even is supposed to mean.

I guess it's Larian's attempt at a meme. I saw it on a news article on a website.

Owlcat also likes to do that, pretend to be "cool meme guys" with predictable cringe results.

Ya and it’s ****, 99% of Owlcat media posting are cringy memes with 1 % actual worth while updates about the company. I get the the odd meme or saw but I expect a game studio media account not be someones personal Reddit account.

The constant posting of memes is some community manager justifying her existence by claiming it builds brand engagement or some other nonsense like that.

Out of curiosity I checked SteamCharts to see if the player count was dying down a bit, but it peaked at about 80,000 today. Holy moly.
What are they even doing at this point? I have to assume it's just a bunch of women in act 1 pretending it's the sims playing dressup or something.
I'm in the middle of doing one last playthrough

What are all those thousands of people doing still playing BG1/2? Or Skyrim? Moddable RPGs live forever. There are so many new mods to try, but even in the base game - different races, subclasses, choices. The last patch introduced a meaningful evil ending, for example. Next one adds 12 (?) new subclasses. Plenty of things to do there still.

Is there a mod that improves class flavor by rebalancing the game to, for example, not give you you infinite Animal Speaking potions and the Speak To Dead amulet?

"Romance is one of the longest-tail parts of a fandom you can create," Welch said. "People will write about a good romance in fanfiction for years to come."
The only kernel of truth in this brainless twaddle. Of course the woman has it ***-backwards why these parts of fandom are so enduring. Spoiler alert: it's because the characters involved were very well written and fleshed out. Attaching a shallow romance to your fanfic-tier story does not automatically give the involved characters depth or complexity.
rusty_shackleford wrote: December 8th, 2024, 00:50
Literally hired a fujoshi fanfic writer to make the game worse, thanks, I now hate all women.
If it took this long you haven't paid attention rusty.

Also, I hate how these people degrade fanfiction with their mere existence. I think it's a good way to stretch your writing muscles and while 99.9% of it are utter trash there are genuine gems out there. Original fiction (which is technically not actually fanfiction but hosted on those sites regardless) in particular. Even the obnoxious shipping can have its place (if it isn't just an excuse for sexually frustrated cat ladies to rub their dolls together) but this part in particular has started to get cancerous over the years.

Look, I too call things like DA: Failtard and Baldur's Gate 3 out for "fanfiction-tier" writing. But, honestly? Fanfiction is often better than some of the garbage in those games. BG3 isn't quite as bad, there it's mostly the trooning and let's not forget Balduran the Dragonfucker. Failtard is below fanfiction in just about every metric because capital-G good fanfiction actually respects the lore and laws of the world it plays with to a degree. Otherwise it's just original fiction with the names slapped on it for recognition (like current Disney).

It's why I don't think that these people are really fans of the games: fans wouldn't go out of their way to **** on the predecessors like this. No DA fan would burn down all of Ferelden just so they don't have to respect previous decisions.

If this woman is a fanfic writer then she's the type that even other fanfic writers would hate.

OK. I've tried Solasta, and like it. So, I might give BG3 a chance again (turn-based, D&D 5e).
What would you recommend - continue my patch 6 hf 9 save in chapter 3 ( :headbang: how I LOATHE chapter 3...) or start a new game with patch 7?

Hmm lot of girl bosses in BG3 still and won't be modded out any time soon because of the sheer effort. So its about what is worse to you:

White, lgbtg free modded baldur's gate with some girl bosses in a fantasy universe?
Or some gay ****** from wakanda, *** protagonists, gypsy and jew sympathizing in a game claiming to be historical?

Seems like something only a Magic 8 Ball can decide.

@MAGIC_EIGHT_BALL Is KCD2 more woke than modded BG3?

If you really want to, you can kill all the people in BG3 that offend you, unlike Niggy of Nog and Jewbrother in KCD2.

I vote KCD2. The "woke" story elements in BG3 is allegorical since it's a fantasy setting, so you can just mod the aesthetics and gayness out, then just suspend your disbelief.

KCD2 is a direct depiction of real life Medieval Bohemia with an in-your-face Save The **** questline

I'm just assuming, isn't the lack of 'female representation' in the setting used to highlight the need for feminism in a preachy way?
