Should urination and defecation be depicted in games?
It can be because it's funny. Let he who didn't have fun pissing on burning people in Postal 2 cast the first stone at me.
But it should not.
But it should not.
I think the Leisure Suit Larry games implemented a system that worked pretty well. You even got called out for not wiping your ***.
Only if you are designing the game for the Indian market.
Plato: You should learn math, not for vulgar mercantile use, but in order to elevate your mind to the contemplation of the eternal
Moderns: Let's use our refined understanding of physics and advanced technology to create sensible simulations of human defecation

Depends.
In a cinematic fantasy JRPG with beautiful characters? Hell no.
In a comedic game like Duke Nukem or High on Life? Sure.

peeing on stuff as a guy can be funny
I'd probably get a solid hour or two of fun out of any game that just let me whip it out and start peeing if there was good reactivity
The Golden Slasher is a more controlled release, turning pee into liquid death ray, the Bladder Blade is a full burst, one shot attack,

India will be a GLOBAL SUPERPOWER in 2030!. It has been foretold by countless saars and maams. It is only fitting that VIDEO GAMES should cater to the new, dominant force in the world. Burgers as food items?, try Naans or chicken tikka masallas!. Japanese onigiri?, try cow dung paddies!. The "global market" of the future is INDIA.AmericanMonarchist wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2025, 18:13Only if you are designing the game for the Indian market.
The only valid reason I see for depicting it is for comedy, but it's not particularly funny. So I guess not.
I never played Morrowind and thought "Wow I need to mod in a way for NPCs to take a **** in outhouses."

Gothic had it. Gothic 2 had it. So obviously that's the correct answer, is it not?
Incidentally, we can use this NPC behavior to judge at a glance, right at the start of the game, how honest of a remake the remake is.

Plenty of games have reasons for it. I don't think the OP meant "do you need to be able to watch the **** come out of their anus"?ArcaneLurker wrote: ↑ September 24th, 2025, 13:45The only valid reason I see for depicting it is for comedy, but it's not particularly funny. So I guess not.
Characters going and using the restroom is part of a believable NPC simulation. Just lock the door when they go in, have the NPC stand there for a bit, then come back out. Done.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

It all depends on context, I don't really get the point of the question tbh. I don't think it should be censored.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 24th, 2025, 15:24Plenty of games have reasons for it. In a game like Hitman, NPCs going to the toilet provides an extra gameplay element.
In a lot of other games it would just be a kind of unnecessarily detailed immersion thing.

AAA development so they'll 3D scan everything.logincrash wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2025, 00:32No, because it's disgusting.
I don't want to see genitals rendered in 8k for the sake of "realism," just as I wouldn't like to see urine or feces.
You know they will.
$120000 in the budget and it will take 3 months to be completed
After the game releases, there will be a GDC talk to brag.
ONLY when it's absolutely necessary (due to a scene of someone being attacked while ******** or something), or hardcore sims.
Many modern games are piles of **** already so I don't see how this would change anything.
