Yes standard game is shit easy, even "tactician".rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ May 22nd, 2024, 22:38I beat the game about a week after it released and my exposure to 5E prior amounted to playing half of Solasta. I followed no guide, and had no idea how to "optimize builds".Anon wrote: ↑ May 22nd, 2024, 22:35Still far from being very hard if you know how to optimize builds, sure
The game is pretty easy, and it was disappointing due to it.

I should add that it actually starts off difficult. I suspect they really toned down the difficulty compared to DOS2 tactician because people choose the hardest difficulty then whine that it's too hard.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ May 22nd, 2024, 22:38The game is pretty easy, and it was disappointing due to it.
Difficulty going down is a problem in many games because of feedback loops like rewarding difficult encounters or underestimating the mathematical advantages of additional actions.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ May 22nd, 2024, 22:41I should add that it actually starts off difficult. Also a great example of how I hate gloves having more strength than a character.

I like late-game hard-to-get items that boost stats a lot!
It only breaks the game if the game designers didn't take those items into account. Because they could just include encounters that REQUIRE such items to get past, LEGENDARY encounters. (That cannot be cheesed unlike say in Dying Light.)
