WRATH: Aeon of Ruin

After more than 4 years in EA it finally comes out Feb. 2024. I only played it when it launched its EA and for 2-3 updates later. It had many weaknesses like AI and map design/sizes, but also some good parts like weapons, and especially the movement was pretty fun.

I also bought it four years ago. The project looked really good - it felt fresh cuz "boomer shooters" weren't a tired trend that outstayed its welcome, it used forked quake engine and not Unity or Unreal, and it had known quake mappers on the team (such as skacky). Who would have known it's gonna end up like this?

The game comes out today and by all accounts it is great, especially for people who like Quake.

I heard this game was delayed constantly since the initial early access release, and it's reputation suffered immensely because of it.

I am honestly a bit surprised it got released after all. It was already bundled way over a year ago. I mean they never really stopped posting updates, but at times they just felt like tiny non-updates, just posting something to keep backers happy.

Still, it's funny and weird how the game is completely ignored by the mainstream youtubers who specialize on that type of games. Almost as if they all congregate in some discord server, and one of them brought the idea to cancel Wrath.
