[Baldur's Better Aesthetics] Floating cat head and other broken NPC visuals

Post by thedestroyer88 »

For some reason, the cat in the inn is now a floating head? Any idea what caused this and can it be fixed?

Greetings. There's a halfling NPC in the city named "dont-call-me-runt" who's head is missing with only his hair showing. Is this a game glitch or something to do with the mod?

Anyone using Albert's version run into this glitched NPC in the Iron Throne prison? I have a ton of mods so it might be something else but it's weird, she has no animations and some mesh glitch

Yeah I get it at random on random npcs. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it apart from the mod being installed.

I am not exactly sure, but were there any changes done to Sergeant Thrinn?
I have installed aesthetics mod way after I finished act one, but when coming back to it I noticed she doesn't have hands lol.
So I'm not sure if it's something to have with BBA version that I have, or that I have older patch installed or something else entirely.

Yes, I don't have Chris' version installed. It's minimalist one (cause in white I had npcs disappear).
But that's exactly why I asked if Thrinn was touched in the mod to begin with, because it may be a mistake / bug on my end instead of mod.

I don’t remember doing anything to Thrinn. I was originally going to make her bald but there is a dearth of Dwarf Lady faces and all of the Grey Dwarves were going to start blending into each other if I did.

Tell me please. His Majesty's cat has only a head. How can I fix this?

Have you try OrinEsque or AlbertHeinous version ?

version differences are; Orin's is the "same" but fixed, Albert's change even more npcs.

Have you been using Chris version before ? Maybe some of the loose files of it are still in your game folder ?

No. I haven't used Chris's version before. I started a new game with the OrinEsque mod

Last thing i think of that you could try, would be placing bba lower (more priority) in your load order ?

If it still don't work, sorry i do not know what else to try. Maybe @ OrinEsque, who's more competent in modding & also the maker of that mod.

A perhaps silly question, but still :-)

Does your mod change the appearance of cats, and does it require a new game if I want to talk to cats with bodies as well as heads? :D

Image

The people who have created this game must hate cats for some weird reason... all cats look terrible. Even if only with a head this is so much better. :-)

EDIT: Ah, I see now I am far from the only one who has run into this enigma.
So, I installed Chris' (overriding/overwriting) version first - can I simply install Orin's using the MM, will that fix it?

Yes, use the minimalist or writer version. Sniperchris' version is outdated and has this bug.

Yeah, I realized that - but a little too late. The overwriting mods are a bit of a hassle to sort out since I OF COURSE forgot to back up the necessary files, so I'll have to reinstall in order to make sure I don't bring this too far into my save games. Thanks. :-)

Yep, had to remove the overwriting version altogether - which basically meant reinstalling. All good now, except I am left with extremely nasty cats again. Ah well. Hopefully someone that identifies as a cat cries out in outrage of cats in this game being so ugly, and Larian developers rushing to fix the problem lest they be accused of cat-transphobia or some such... ;-)
