Would you recommend buying Palworld or no? I got "scam warning" vibes at first, but it seems more and more like it might be something fun to lose myself with when I cannot sleep, particularly if the developers just wanted to make something fun, I can get behind that! (Shame it's not on GOG though)

I am aware. Should I take that to be a warning against buying it then? Though I played Baldur's Gate 3 when it was in Early Access, and I greatly miss THAT version of the game. I fear the more time will go on, the worst it will be infected with, this way I can play the version that was nice, and this time I won't delete the files like I did with Baldur's Gate 3.

The odds they won't finish it after that many sales seems pretty low tbh.

Why is it when zoomers mod Skyrim's combat, they turn it into some nonsensical JRPG or Souls clone?.

Souls was the cool new thing when they were kids.

It’s not just zoomers, I used to do it too. I still would if I played again. Souls combat is fun and satisfying and easy to mod in. Nothing else made the combat in the game enjoyable.

Tacit admission that the combat in vanilla Skyrim (and other TES games for that matter) was is and always will be ****. Modders have been trying to make the combat in Skyrim engaging since the game has launched.

Why not make it more similar to Dark Messiah then?. Is Dark Souls the be-all end-all of fantasy combat?.

Dark Messiah does not have good combat though. It's a fun game, an even more entertaining slapstick simulator, but the melee combat in the game is very lacking.

No, but it's a proven model with plenty of games to draw inspiration from. Mind you, I don't think you can make Skyrim play like Dark Souls, since that would require overhauling the whole game, and especially enemies and their animations et al, but at least with mods you can approximate a combat system that isn't just walking backwards and left-clicking, or being a stealth archer.

It doesn't have the best combat I'd agree, but given that Skyrim's intended as a first person game, it fits a lot more than just copying Dark Souls. Dark Messiah's combat would be a massive upgrade over vanilla Skyrim, at the very least. And wouldn't you want to kick bandits off of bridges?.

For Skyrim, has anyone implemented physicalized weapons and directional blocking like in Mount & Blade? I found the combat in M&B kept me on my toes as you could get your long weapon stuck in tight spaces and have to use a shorter weapon, or the fear of fighting two enemies at once since you can only block from one direction with your sword. If you block enemy A's overhead strike but enemy B strikes horizontally at you, you're gonna hurt.

I got bored and decided to play Morrowind and make the most OP character possible. After owning Divayth Fyr, making Vivec kill himself from reflect, and one shotting Almalexia I weep for I have no NPCs left to conquer...
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

What are some examples of pseudo-open world games that use the open world as the main hub?

rather preferred the way games used to look before they started hiring pajeets to fill every room with random garbage
There's a certain quality to idtech and idtech-style games that is hard to describe. Utilitarian doesn't quite hit it, as the games often look good too.

I think it might have to do with tools being taken away from level designers such that the design flow is now that level designers create blockouts rather than something closer to the finished product.

I too find a game like Quake (id Tech 2.0) a lot more visually pleasing and readable than most modern slop. Good, cohesive art direction and a certain level of detail go a very long away, especially when it all runs buttery-smooth on a high refresh monitor. "Graphics" are highly overrated, and was always a marketing tool to get you to buy new and more expensive hardware.

Basically I want this with higher quality textures

I remember refusing to play Jedi Academy because it either didn't have the g_saberrealisticcombat 1 command or it did but the limbs were bloody which is NOT CANON.

Also, what the **** is this naming scheme?

I always figured Jedi Academy was "Jedi Knight III", that's cool to know I guess. And very disappointing.
