You probably know, but I'll make sure just in case.
You can turn off the permanent glow on weapons. At least legendary ones I believe.
Don't know about circlet, with mods - for sure.

I'm using those exact mods! Can't wait to see them in action when I get to act 3, several years from now.

Larian go way too over the top with their design decisions, and VFX and SFX are some of the biggest offenders. They either think characters in-world would think nothing of the overly fantastical effects, or they expect the player to do a lot of heavy lifting to suspend disbelief. I don't know who's in charge of those aspects of the game, but how they don't find most of what they make to be overstimulating is beyond me. Countless people complain about the endlessly looping NPC conversations, for instance, to the point where there is no conceivable way they're oblivious to how unpleasant people find it, and they still keep doing the same thing. Sorry for the off-topic rant, lol.
You can selectively turn off annoying VFX with https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/482 -- must have mod for getting rid of the dumb bubble effect from Shield of Thralls, haze from temporary HP, etc.

Not sure if we have any other Brazillian Portuguese around here, maybe you can volunteer? I have guide on how to translate on original post :)

@orinEsque At the risk of asking a question I've already asked and forgotten the answer to, if I'm also using NoRomanceMod, do I leave your Lingo file out? Or should I keep it but have it higher or lower in the load order?

Ask away :D I don't mind. Yes if you downloaded NoRomance Lingo, then leave my NoAlphabets lingo file out. NoRomance adds every change from NoAlphabets in its Lingo file. . (I could incorporate NoRomance changes, but its gender specific and will get confusing for people).

If you want to keep NoAlphabets just in case CK missed a line, you would give it lower priority (higher on load order in bg3 mod manager)

Sharing one's "how did you find this place" story could be a fun idea for a separate topic.
For me it was a screencap on 9gag where reddit was ******** themselves about "Sir Aylin" - I googled "sir aylin mod" and here I was.

btw looks like the first post got a rehaul, nice and informative.

This is an alternative romance mod that seems not to edit text (as far as I could tell after unpacking, seems to tweak what makes lines trigger; I'm just a novice, so take what I say with a grain of salt), with exception to the specific files that edit text to be more platonic sounding. A good pick for avoiding any compatibility issues, I think. Might be useful to handfuls of us to whom the NoRomance mod doesn't apply.

Orin, I'm grateful you keep them separate, as I love the No Alphabets mod with very slight tweaking, and not taking away the player's personal freedom makes the mod more appealing. :salute:

Yes that's fine. I would nitpick a few things though:
* While it's not harming anything you don't need CCreator. Because CCreator Gen is the same thing but with no genital carousel.
* You can leave all the voice stuff and ccreator stuff in the override section. NoRomance and NoAlphabets voices do not interact with each other because they are different audio files.

Nope PlatonicLines and PlatonicLines narrator contains a lingo file. If you use it, you would lose NoAlphabets Lingo changes. I wouldn't use those two specific submods from that site. I would ask @Crusaderknight20 about any specific customisations you need for your lingo file btw. I'm sure it's only changing 1 or two lines that you can add to the end of your custom lingo file.

Thank you~ thought I should highlight how detailed the mod is, because there's a lot read!

As for separate topic, good idea. Though ****** regularly come to this thread to spy on orin-the-hitler-second-coming, and it's funnier to have them see how much their spazzing backfired :D

I wish someone picks up the defiminization mod idea just so that we can call it BackToKitchen Gate 3 and watch feminists' reaction

As a female, I would think this would offend me, but it doesn't. There's too many boss girls in BG3, only issue is this would require not only gender change but dubbing over a lot of different lines. The aylin mod was painful and required a team effort because of that.

Oh, I didn't know you're a woman, but I'm glad you're not offended, you make great content here.
Yeah that project would be obviously a huge effort, I only mentioned it for the sake of a joke.

@orinEsque Yes, those are the files I was referring to that would alter the lingo. My bad for not clarifying exactly, but yes, I meant using the files that don't alter the lingo are probably a safe bet without conflicting with other mods. Either way, I'd still load it above No Alphabets, as I want NA to have the highest priority. :)

Even if the mod I mentioned ended up being overwritten, having to ignore and/or reject Lae'zel isn't the end of the world, given she's the only romanceable female companion I ever bother recruiting. She's just gross about insisting we would wonder what we're missing out on. Annoyingly presumptuous on the developers' part. Seems they like their women crass and hypersexual. :|

Also, per the ongoing discussion, I'm glad I'm not the only bothered by the overabundance of GIRLBOSS in the game. It drops suspension of disbelief and is flat out patronizing. Plus, the way it alienates men is kind of sickening. They're actively trying to make men completely redundant.

People with thin skin is what led us to this woke era. Down with the snowflakes. If enough people volunteer we can start this project seriously at some point. Next depozzing on my agenda is making Cazador white, that'll be a different mod, NA is specialised. Not sure how someone from Eastern Realms goes by unnoticed in Baldur's gate as a big bad vampire.

It's weird because when I go on an adventure, I like a harem of men. Strong Knight types, Lanky Smart Mage types, Mysterious Rogue types, Flirty Bard types, imma take em all. This excess females everywhere just pisses me off.

Likewise, Orin. It really makes me miss Dragon Age: Origins. There were only three female companions (two of which I kind of hate for being obvious writers' pets, but at least none of them overlapped with men's roles), and the overall setting was extremely grounded in reality, by fantasy standards. It's really depressing to see how far the setting has fallen, which was largely due to them replacing all the original writers. Can't wait to see how extra pandering DA4 will be.

Unless things come to a head and the silent majority finally put their foot down to say "enough is enough," I'm not optimistic about the future of gaming.

Leliana and Morrigan, lol. They have their moments of likability, and Leliana in particular has good bro moments, but it's pretty clear that the writers favored them, especially in future installments.

Ah, I mostly favored both characters in DA:O. I do, however, agree that their depiction in later installments was less than stellar.

@Deadpan55 You are basically describing pre-Sarkeesian and post-Sarkeesian gaming. BS (before **** or before sarkeesian), we barely saw woke. And writers got to write what they want instead of DEI/ESG values dictating their hand.

I completely forgot about Sarkeesian. At the time I didn't realize how much her screeching would impact things, especially since she was rightfully mocked for the most part. That is so depressing.

This is funny and scary at the same time.
Just as Envergence mentioned - at the time, I didn't expect any of that loud ******** to be of ANY value, because to me, she was absolutely batshit crazy and I didn't expect a single person to pay her any mind. Buuuuuut, I hate to be proven wrong since everything went to hell and back right after.

Also @orinEsque
I just checked out the new "cover" for the mod on 1st page.
Really makes me appreciate just how much of that letter-fat trim was done.
I don't think it's like the full list of changed NPCs, but still, it's an insane amount of job. Thank you again for this mod!

I think Beldron the gay deep gnome is missing, and all the straight NPCs that actually refer to them as a lover of a gay / misgender them. 3 months of work this :D. Definitely, kudos to the people who was part of the Ser Aylin team as well.

I'll be turning that Oliphant into a female soon. I said i wasn't gonna change another NPC, then I remembered that stupid animal.

You must be joking now, no way you are going to fix that atrocious space thing.
I get it, it's... just a very weird fantasy creature, but... doesn't make me less confused at the presence of that thing.
I actually enjoyed the vanilla voice acting, but I understand why going for female version would be easier.

One of the many gay deep gnomes that we don't even know how they reproduce with 75% of them being gay couples.
