Baldurs gate 3 Defeminization mod request
Baldurs gate 3 Defeminization mod request
Hi, while playing the game I noticed there are plenty of female characters in position of power. It seems like every cutscene sends a commanding woman as a speaking representative of a group of NPCs while men are reduced to her minions.
It became most apparent in act 2 around the cursed land village but then continued onto act 3. I could name some examples just from the top of my head:
- leader of group of harpers when we first enter shadow curse land
- guard at the enterance to the city (where we first see a Steel guardian)
- Steel guardians (WHY are they females, wtf)
- bank guard demanding a pass before you can go to lower levels
- fanatics of Bane in the sewer, several groups on the way to the water temperature/pressure mechanisms
- Flaming fist outpost in general
- Steel foundry: opressors with Motivator crystals
- group of gypsies that ask Astarion to save their children
- punks sent after Wyll if he refuses to save his father
Also, now that i think of it, nearly all of these characters i just listed are very dark skinned, curious coincidence, isnt it. Someone clearly had an agenda when creating these npcs.
And even when no conversation is taking place women seem to simply dominate the scene, like for instance when enemies raid the thieves guild of the Nine-fingers lady in the sewer. If we only count fighting npcs then more than half of them are women.
It is honestly so tiring, its pretty obvious that if this game was made around the same time as Dragon Age 1 or Neverwinter Nights this would not be the case. I think that BG3 would benefit from a mod that swaps the gender of all commanding women into men.
I know that redoing the voices would be lots of work but if Sir Aylin could be done then perhaps this as well. I think such a defeminisating mod would be a good complimentary mod for NoAlphabets mod, to have a whole setup to de-woke-ify the game.
Besides giving this idea I myself could even contribute, I got lots of free time of my hand these days, I would just need some hint on how to most efficiently re-do those voicelines / teach the voice recognition module / re-pitch audio files or whatever else is needed.

The Harpers are full of women because of the creator of the setting, Ed Greenwood, so that's on brand.
But all the female mercenaries and cops (Flaming Fist) though... and you're right about it seeming like every officer is female, and occasionally black.
And, of course, if more than one or two male soldiers in the entire game was black/brown, that would be remarkable for Baldur's Gate.
There simply aren't enough of them in all of Toril for them to emigrate in such numbers to a single city state. Chult is small and dinosaur infested.
I've not seen the others you mentioned, but I'm not far enough in.
Long way to say I second this. Make the warrior population of the game (soldiers, bandits, thieves, cultists, whatever) properly demographically set.

If the story is told through cinematics, and it is almost impossible to mod cinematics, then isn't this game fundamentally proofed against being modded in any meaningful way?
You guys are playing globohomo propaganda pretending to be be a game. I want my hobby back just as badly as the rest of you, but there are very real technical barriers preventing that.
Thoughts?

The biggest thread on this board was created to erase a lesbian couple from cutscenes by completely redoing the voice acting and changing the model of a character. There are mods to turn all non-white NPCs and companions in the game white, change all gays to be straight, remove transsexual character creation options and wording, redesign characters to look like they belong in D&D, and prevent companions from being gay.Gregz wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2024, 17:34If the story is told through cinematics, and it is almost impossible to mod cinematics, then isn't this game fundamentally proofed against being modded in any meaningful way?

What do you think is missing at this point? What mod do you need to consider the game free of globohomo propaganda?
Butthurt leftist comment on display.
Just so that I understand what you're saying. The technology/technique of modifying cinematics in PC games is mature and within the reach of modders right now?Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2024, 17:51The biggest thread on this board was created to erase a lesbian couple from cutscenes by completely redoing the voice acting and changing the model of a character. Other than the first intro cinematic, every other cinematic is moddable in the game.Gregz wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2024, 20:56Just so that I understand what you're saying. 'moddable' is a pretty theoretical word. I'm asking about the current state of the art.orinEsque wrote: ↑ January 18th, 2024, 02:35Other than the first intro cinematic, every other cinematic is moddable in the game.Gregz wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2024, 20:56Just so that I understand what you're saying. Is the burden of work so heavy that it's impractical, or are there several dozen people out there with the expertise/ability to render serviceable cinematic replacements in a reasonable amount of time?
At least 3 people on this forum can do voice AI, and we're willing to share our expertise. The voice bit is the only challenge. Changing aesthetics from man to woman is easy.Gregz wrote: ↑ January 18th, 2024, 02:44'moddable' is a pretty theoretical word. What do you think is going on in the cutscenes in this game? They're full of men saying "my husband" and women saying "my wife", they didn't animate you marching in gay pride parades and molesting children.Gregz wrote: ↑ January 18th, 2024, 02:44'moddable' is a pretty theoretical word. I don't spend my life staying abreast of the state of modern game cinematics modding.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ January 18th, 2024, 04:28What do you think is going on in the cutscenes in this game? Not very long ago this stuff wasn't practical. If it's trivial to defag and deblack and depozz a game like BG3, then I would be very happy to hear that news.
Do you have a link to a set of instructions, or a package, that achieves that?

Request for a Delarianzation mod of Baldur's Gate 3
Looks like the topic got attention, cool! Thanks for the support of the idea, maybe someone will pick it up for some modmaking
In the Last Light Inn I can understand the presence and importance of Jaheira and Isobel but there are many more. To refresh my memory I looked into a wikia page for the Inn map and here are some examples: Harper Lassandra, Counsellor Florrick, Quartermaster Talli.
https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Last_Light_Inn
Am not saying women can't possibly hold important functions but... why would they be holding ALL of the important functions?
I may agree with that lore-wise but this doesn't change the fact that if the player wants to get anything done in the Last Light Inn the only way to do that is to either talk to women, or to listen to them talk to each other (cutscene on the bridge). No male npc will have a say in any matter there. I was already a bit irked in the Druid grove since it was all about Kagha or Nettie, (also shadow druid coming out of the rat form who spoke out was female) but it didn't strike as so blatant just yet.Rand wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2024, 15:30The Harpers are full of women because of the creator of the setting, Ed Greenwood, so that's on brand.

I was just saying that due to Greenwood's design of it, that organization is normally chock full of (non-fighting) women characters.
Which makes sense. A secret conspiracy that's mostly talking and whispering behind the scenes to get things their way? Women do that shit normally.

Fuck, I hate the Forgotten Realms setting.
Every time I look something up, I think one of two things:
• Fuck, that's stupid
• Jeez, that's so gay
If I have to use a published setting, I much prefer Greyhawk.
That place makes more sense in how people act, individually and as groups.
Greenwood's jumped up campaign of retards exploring little "dales" under the eye of his GaryStu self insert wizard is so fucking lame when he tried to expand it out to a retarded world.
The only good things in Forgotten Realms was the stuff he copied from Gygax and company from the official rules.

Forgottern Realms is literally just a list of Ed Greenwood's fetishes.
Quoted for support of the request - I noticed this as well. However, this started way back, with I think Neverwinter Nights 1 with women in higher positions, but then it wasn't as underlined as it is today.Envuen wrote: ↑ January 17th, 2024, 15:16Hi, while playing the game I noticed there are plenty of female characters in position of power. It is though.. Sure, we could certainly try. I have a vague idea of how the process works (I watched some youtube tutorial about that) but I havent tried any of it in practice.orinEsque wrote: ↑ February 7th, 2024, 17:54I can teach you how to make voice mods, do you still want to try your hand at this? I assume Steel Watch would be the easiest first choice since they are just animated armors, not even with booby plates so redoing the voice would be all that's needed? After that we'll see just how painful it is
