I was shocked to learn that the files for male Aylin were already there.
Do you think this proves Aylin was male in the beginning of development @orinEsque?
I just wanted to pick your brain on this.

orinEsque already gave her opinion on this somewhere. I think her verdict was that since the male Aylin was the standard male preset (the original one before they made it black) it was just a test dummy to check the armor and other functionality.Slavic Sorcerer wrote: ↑ December 19th, 2023, 21:16Watched your video on the truth.

But I think it (the male Aylin) was a test dummy to test the armour etc. Because you have armour for every race, class and gender. There is an "old nightsong" with a sleazy outfit. I have a theory nightsong was just a female cleric of shar initially, before they changed it to Dame Aylin.

Sorry for resurrecting old post, but you should post this in the BBA thread, its to do more with lore accurate races etc. I'm currently not doing any "random" npc changes. Maybe someone in better baldur's aesthetics thread might be interested.

Do you guys recall there was a group of fishermen digging their "dead daughter" out of the wreckage in the opening area? It would then possibly result in a fight as they were being mind-controlled by the Illithid, I really loved the feeling that scene gave to the game (also highlighting the power mind flayers possess), I wanted to ask, is the scene still in the game files somewhere? Or was it completely removed? And also, does anyone have an idea why it could have been removed? It only added to the game, in my opinion, the only thing I can think of could be that there was a "white male looking for his daughter" that they got "offended" by or something, I hope for a more logical explanation.Ty6 wrote: ↑ December 20th, 2023, 00:09Old Nightsong model just got reused as the goddess Shar herself.orinEsque wrote: ↑ December 19th, 2023, 22:19It's yedlike's video, not mine, but yes we found that the male preset was already there.Slavic Sorcerer wrote: ↑ December 19th, 2023, 21:16Watched your video on the truth.

Either homosexuality itself is illegal (Saudi Arabia) or promotion of such material in the media (games, movies etc) but homosexual citizens are not persecuted by law (Russia, Poland to a lesser degree).Nobere wrote: ↑ December 20th, 2023, 01:43It's not surprising, there are 71 countries where homosexuality is Illegal.Slavic Sorcerer wrote: ↑ December 19th, 2023, 21:16Watched your video on the truth.

I wonder how the game looks like in both cases - if it was released at all (if we assume every single one of those 71 countries has access to goods like games).
Since women get off easily for being lesbian-ish in their behaviour, I can imagine they cut off any mentions of their love, the kiss scene, the "exploration of our bodies line" and similar.
They are just really, really, REALLY close friends.
Men do not have that easy; simple hug is seen as a gay act
Which is why I theorize there is so little media featuring a prominent gay couple (to a degree Aylin and Isobel are) because it would be harder to fix in censorship part of development.

Honestly the complaint is half-justified. Yes, you're right that paladins should be able to fall. (And restoring your Oath is **** easy, you can just pay gold.)Luckmann wrote: ↑ December 20th, 2023, 18:00I love paladins being able to fall, and removing this just to avoid ******* shooting themselves in the foot reeks of whiny ****** entitlement.Phenomenonofhope wrote: ↑ December 20th, 2023, 07:44You are wichhunting, friend. On the other hand it's very easy to break your oath even over piddly things. Attack that goblin who's current torturing a gnome before they turn hostile? Oath broken. Attack the slave trader before he turns hostile? Oath broken.
Attack the ******* serial killer before he can kill his victim before he turns hostile? You guessed it, Oath ******* broken.
If you're not playing Vengeance Paladin you're forced to play a lawful stupid character and even they have their moments.

Problem of this specific scene with paladin is it's location. It's literally in 10 meters after start game point. So, to keep it means to do a disservice to the paladin protagonist. I agree with devs, who deleted it, even if I liked that little quest myself.SoLong wrote: ↑ December 20th, 2023, 19:47Honestly the complaint is half-justified. Yes, indulgentia. Pay gold price to reduce your sins. Very duplicitous and very historically plausible.
And it's very cool that players have a lot of other options to fail the Oath.
High moral standards imply high demands to behavior. So the simplicity of breaking an oath is quite natural. But it forces you to constantly do mental gymnastics, explaining the presence of an all-metal head on the shoulders of your character. I once played a tabletop D&D campaign as a
paladin, and it was so exhausting. I will never do it again. I found salvation in the idea that the paladin archetype has it's vivid reflection in pop culture as Bruce Wayne. It made my role more bearable.
Sounds like a good spot for a tutorial popup that introduces the non-lethal fighting stance.Phenomenonofhope wrote: ↑ December 21st, 2023, 02:46Problem of this specific scene with paladin is it's location. You're right about that, of course, but the problem with a large audience is that it quite often demonstrates a reverse evolution and loses ability to read, as well as ability to understand what is written.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ December 21st, 2023, 08:57Sounds like a good spot for a tutorial popup that introduces the non-lethal fighting stance.Phenomenonofhope wrote: ↑ December 21st, 2023, 02:46Problem of this specific scene with paladin is it's location. How many hours for refund steam gives? 2? During this time, you can start the game for the paladin class, by skipping dialogues and tutorials, lose the oath and, outraged about this, make a refund. I know it sounds silly, but Larian Studios weren't sure about the high sales. Remember what happened in July - they moved release on month earlier because they were afraid of competing with Starfield. In hindsight sounds ridiculous, but they did not know.
Larian is not at all as big and rich studio as many people think. All their finances were invested in the development. If the sales failed, the studio would go bankrupt.

Version 3.0
- Nocturne now looks more manly and has a different deeper voice. No matter what voice is used, the voice acting is so bad that it makes me think of a person tryharding in a studio instead of a character in bg3.
- Nocturne's journal fully revamped. It no longer mentions any gender confusion.
► Show Spoiler
- Droona Schveitz (L) specifically mentions a daughter that passed away.
- Fuschia Vineshoot (G) is now a woman.
- Philomeen (L) now calls Laridda a friend.
- Fixed many Aylin related oversights and bugs reported by users. Inc Dame Aylin references from Jaheira, Thisobald, Shadowheart, Emperor & Isobel.
- Infiltration Expertise and Disguise Self now uses male & females instead of masc/femme. Removed mention of "body type"
► Show Spoiler
- CCreator has been updated for latest patch.
- Character Creator now says "Gender" instead of "Identity"
- Character Creator now describes voices as Male X and Female X instead of Voice 1, Voice 2 etc
- Character Creator now uses "Gender and Musculature" instead of "Body Type" and now says F, M, MS and FS instead of 1, 2, 3, 4

One quick thing, I noticed Fuschia Vineshoot still uses a male potrait. I was just wondering if this was an oversight or just not worth doing due to being a minor character.

Thanks! Do you think you could make a tutorial on how to make good NPC replacement portraits at some point along with how to find NPC data in the game files? Someone still needs to go through BBA and replace all the old potraits with more 'lore accurate' ones. I would like to try my hand at it but don't know where to start.orinEsque wrote: ↑ December 22nd, 2023, 17:03good catch. Hotfix incoming. Yes, this is on my list of things to do. My modding tutorial sort of jumps into the middle. I'll update it at some point.Ty6 wrote: ↑ December 22nd, 2023, 17:25Thanks!
