I... I'm going to install this and spare myself the knowledge of how it's supposed to be and gonna pretend this mod is a true endgame and always was! Thank you.
On a side note, please, can anyone tell me they snatched the male narrator voice from nexus before it was deleted? With all due respect to VA hellish amout of work, her voice just doesn't work for me to insert myself into the dark fantasy.

This was removed because a cease and desist letter was given from the original VA's lawyer's. Btw if you haven't started the game, the narrator, she is not you the player character, she's the game master. She does it pretty well as well. The way she says some things are pretty **** iconic. (I don't know where its been uploaded, didn't bother looking personally)

Isn't it overreaction on her part? Considering you can't turn off the voiceover, I personaly welcome any way of either changing the voice or muting it. I played for a bit in the first Act, and I found her too... sultry. In dnd, I tend to consider Narrator either a background descriptive voice or my own character's thought process. I can't relate to her, at all. Ofc it varies from person to person.

Probably her manager and lawyer's covering bases. I can see a lot of people are threatened by ai and implications on IP.

If AI art is considered a transformative work, I'd have trouble believing AI voice isn't also.

I mean, there are plenty of voiceovers for turning Gale and Astarion into women, so I question why full commando mode. Sadge, no more male voice for narrator at all then :<

I'm also waiting for a hero to upload the male narrator mod. Even the Wayback Machine wasn't able to save it. In the meantime, there are a couple of mute narrator mods you could try, or a text-to-speech male narrator mod. None of them have been updated, though, so there will likely be random voiced narration at certain parts (via patches or changes from the GOAT No Alphabets mod), and the epilogue will definitely still be voiced, as of writing this post.

I never liked her narration, even back in early access (enjoyed her as Malady in DOS2, though). But, I did notice they had her redo some lines to make them sound significantly less smug, so at least they partially took that common complaint to heart. There also used to be a separate volume option for the narrator in EA, but they eventually patched it out. Probably for butthurt reasons, I'd guess. I was originally going to live and let live and tolerate her narration, but after learning what an egotistic, histrionic diva the narrator's VA comes across as, I muted her to spite her. This brought to light a few things: The narration is a crutch of the game--over-used, and we'll encounter large swathes of awkward silence in cutscenes with the voice-over removed; the writing for the narration itself is smug and presumptuous, not just the VA's delivery.

None of the other VA's stamped their feet to have mods that change their voices removed, just this lady. I don't want to say she's got BPD or something similar, but...

Hey fella! I've tried them both. Muting turned out to be the best option atm, though I had to now consider downloading Bilingual Dialogues and Dialogue Position. Tough, considering they cancel each other, and Bilingual Dialogues don't work with No Alphabets well - one language showcases changes, the other does not.

I don't want to come off as an arse, but let me just say, my feelings towards Narrator's voiceover in bg3 is much uglier than mere dislike. Sure, she's done a great job, voice recording is not a walk in the park, no shade on her there. However, isn't Narrator supposed to be neutral? Unless the story is told by a character and influenced by his/her worldview as a result, it should be similar to a storryteller who merely spins a tale about someone, rather than appers as a direct participator. With current VA, it feels like she is a character in the story, and she constantly butts in to tell you how you feel, what emotions you experience, and how you should react. I used to think it could be justified for Dark Urge, but then oftentimes her chosen tone of voice never conveyed how my character actually felt, ruining the role-playing experience for me.

If I'd wanted to play Warlock and have a personal Mizora to croon at me on every corner, I would have used my imagination, thank you very much!

Like, it's the same as some people don't like too much lqbt representation. Or any at all. I don't like female narrator. Why can't I feed her voicelines through the meatmincer and get something that is less grating? I've already bought the game, you ain't getting paid less for any work you've done, why so much butthurting?

In other words, I completely agree with you. For a Narrator, she sure takes a lot of screen time. Mic time. Whatever. And sometimes, you just don't like someone's particular voice or have sensitive ears, and hearing it over and over without a choice is pain.

...Am I salty? I think I am.

To be clear, anyone is free to host said mod here if you are the owner of the content or have their permission. If the original VA(or their representative) files a copyright claim, I'll probably be forced to take it down unless the person who created/uploaded it files a counterclaim. My hands would pretty much be tied. Read more here regarding claims/counterclaims:

I personally do think AI output is a transformative work, for the record.

Regarding the narrator, I actually can't stand her voice. And too often the accent (at least to my ears) was way too close to the voice for my character so sometimes I wasn't certain who's talking. Narrator? My character? WHO!?

Yeah, muting is the answer. :headbang:

Oh man what I wouldn't give for a narration by Kevin Michael Richardson ...

Would be a taker for a neutral male voice too if someone got the goods. The BG3 voice actress is great at what she does but I as well would like something more neutral. The game already feels like a constant soft porn prelude as it is.

ps I'll also put it out there that if anyone feels like making a mod that makes Jaheira look more like her picture in BG1 I'd be all over that ^^

The amount of oversights is just proof for anyone saying "there's barely any LGBT content!"
Feels like there's more gay couples than straight.
Are there any characters who are actually straight and not bi? Seems like the whole cast is LGBT.

Honestly the more I play the more it feels like companions will just be horny for you no matter what gender, species, race or atom composition you are.

This is a direct consequence of the "open gender" character creation menu. Anything goes. Anything goes to the point literally nothing matters.

Relationship building ? Personal preferences ? Nope. The game is so far into tolerance it basically annihilates individuality.

Which is a rather comical and ironic commentary on the whole thing tbh.

funny how i see some people on the internet saying if you're playing a warlock, your patron actually have few voiced lines like when speaking to Vlaakith or when you encounter Dribbles. total bs

I don't know she seems alright to me. Considering how well established a voice actress she is, I feel like it's her lawyers themselves that have jumped the gun, to avoid precedent by inaction.

There is a lot of debate and discussion on..
Who owns weights from a trained dataset?
Can even you own weights?
Is transferring weights the same as transferring the material those weights derived from? etc.

There are a lot of corporations & legal departments that are outwardly admitting that their just sitting on their hands waiting for someone to litigate it.

Everyone has an opinion but nobody wants to be the first to end up in court over it. Even if you win - the risk and costs are huge. We might need to wait for 2 large corps to fight it out.

Seeing lots of requests on here well outside the scope of the mod's theme/desired outcome...

Should probably have a 'mod request' section around here, or something.

I've found another one for you: At least one of the hirelings, Kerz, is a "them", leading to a largely nonsensical background description text. For reference, it's h23d5c3ecg0184g4ca8gbb48g6c2325c59aa0 in the english.loca. The performative nature of his inclusion as a "they" is extra noteworthy in that if you actually select him, his gender (just like his body type) is very much male anyway.

Is it minor? Very. But at this point I'm starting to embrace the total alphabet holocaust mindset.

It's just so ******* tiresome.

Edit: About the last update, who the hell capitalizes things like that outside of writing rules text? Also, "Sex" used in this context reads incredibly awkwardly. I suggest changing:

Code: Select all

I even drank an Elixir of Sex Shifting once."
into

Code: Select all

I even drank an elixir of gendershift once.
I also suggest changing

Code: Select all

He, unlike Rannald,
into

Code: Select all

Nocturne, unlike Rannald,
and if the repetition of "Nocturne" reads as repetitious, simply remove the previous mention and end the preceding sentence as "I am a new man now."

I also suggest changing "wrong name" into "old name". It will all read much better and less preachy.

But there is no way to not make the whole thing not idiotic without a complete rewrite. Imagine a pre-modern world that would consider braiding inherently unmanly, especially one with hyperbelligerent pint-sized ale-drinking axe-wielding murder-hobbyists walking the streets with braided beards and hairs. It's all so stupid. It's all so tiresome.
