Not sure if I've installed the mod incorrectly but I get this screen when creating a new game on any difficulty.

I just installed Mod Manager and some mods and got the same problem.

Download this and dump it in your mod folder. Fixed it for me.

Hollyphants have been a thing since First Edition, but I've always found them weird. And it's exceptionally weird when they just appear as like... random citizens of Baldur's Gate. "Yes, I'm a powerful, divine being from the upper planes... I'M ALSO AN ALCOHOLIC DETECTIVE "

As much as I love their games, Larian did not shy away from their usual Larianisms. I imagine Valeria is meant to be part of their lolrandom reddit-bait content. "Isn't this such a kooky concept, guys? We're so wacky and zany!" See also: "Shovel." The mature story and characters are frequently marred by the immature content, creating unfortunate tonal dissonance. Thankfully most, if not all of it appears to be optional. I'd bet the writers responsible for the worst content have the most authority in the company, as you'll also find this style of content in their other games, from time to time. It's just particularly egregious in BG3.

Valeria is an odd case because we have no other hollyphants in-game to compare. The diary does mention that the only reason this flying ******* is even around is because the heavenly bureaucracy was getting sick of the constant complaining (Which turned out to be correct about Zariel at least. Hooray for lawful good incompetence!).

I don't think this... thing even has a non-human identity. Is it just the voice?

Forget it: On the forgotten realms wiki the entries for Lulu and Valeria are listed differently. Valeria is listed as "Gender Feminine" and Lulu as "Sex Female".

So it's supposed to be a celestial ****** and apparently our group (who never met this thing before) somehow knows this and calls him "she" despite him having a voice like a 40 year old chain smoker.

I may have made this mod, but I got nothing against Alphabets. I just don't think there would be openly LGBTQ people in that era. And yes even in this era most people don't go out of their way to tell you who they are ******* in real life with the first sentence they speak. I don't want a nokia 360 ringing in the middle of a sword and magic fantasy, unless it is SPECIFICALLY an isekai

It's all about world building, and whether or not it stands on it's legs.

I would have no issue by default with a work of fiction, game or otherwise, depicting a society where homosexuality is the norm as long as it has a solid base of lore and world building to support it.

The issue here is that it is forced on pre-existing material that never laid those bases to begin with, hence why it feels so forced and jarring and destroys immersion and the illusion of a believable world. Which is simply the single most basic important premise for a good story/RPG.

None of them would ever admit it but I guarantee the writers themselves feel awkward about it, because they must know intimately what they're doing is objectively bad writing.

Yet again and again you see old franchises like DnD get forced updates to the current progressive trends. But you never see new franchises being created with those concepts as fundamental foundations.

Hi, mee again. Currently playing trough Act 3 again and i‘ve seen a little bug where Nafula, the Daughter from the Mermaid‘s bar and her father have a bit of a mix uo. Nafula calls her lover Sandra (i think that was the name) whilst the dialogue says „Sasha“. Meanwhile the father says „the son?!“ while the text says „the daughter“. Just a small bug, but also not sure if it’s just me
