Who is Jason Schreier and why do leftist gamers like him so much?
Games journalist from Kotaku and SomethingAwful poster (now a ResetEra poster) who managed to get employed by Bloomberg news as their games industry insider. Lots of Western AAA game devs email him about what is happening inside their companies behind the scenes. He gets exclusive interviews, etc. He interviewed a lot of Blizzard employees and wrote and published a revisionist history book about Blizzard.

I wouldn't despise them so much if they were spending their lives trying to entertain me. Instead, they'd rather give me lectures and inundate me with Debra Wilson.

We all know it was bad faith from the get go but I genuinely can't understand the reasoning. The witch in the picture has huge breasts, huge hips and a tiny waist. Sure, you can argue is gooner bait and the overexagerated proportions make it look actually unappealing, but pedo? Breasts and hips are key identifiers of sexual maturity and fertility for female humans. Men like women that have ample bosom and childbearing hips. This is observable knowledge that humanity has known as fact since time immemorial.

no, you do not "own" your $700 ebay copy of a game any more than I own the same exact game on my SSD that I pirated from vimm's lair
Are you missing the point on purpose?
Yes, it could be worded better, but you know what "ownership" actually applies as and to here.
A version that cannot be revoked or invalidated for use or messed with to change in any way not accepted by the user.
It's completely identical to the file on my ssd.

Imagine being called Schreier, like an obnoxious market place announcer/discusser in the middle ages, being a jew, and living up to that name.
This reality is a joke.

I feel like I ****** up my build. I didn't expect how much I'd need lockpicking and hacking, so I sold 2 books for those early-game and they disappeared from the vendor, I think. Appearance is useless. All it does is lower prostitute cost, but I puke if I prey on them.

I feel like dodge does nothing. It feels like blocking does nothing. It feels like armor does nothing. I didn't do much with disciplines, because no matter what I do I am always hurting for blood. I did high str and brawl, but I still can only prey on small-fry humans. The game feels like it would be so much easier on replay, but I don't intend to ever replay it. I don't feel like I'd enjoy it. I don't really like replaying RPGs tbh, unless I've played them before being turned into a racist. I'm doing the werewolf escape now, but I am slow and just get killed while trying to escape. I'm glad I made a save before, so technically I can go back and try to buy heals. I'm still a noob, but I think the game difficulty is essentially the clans, and I think I accidentally chose the second most difficult (Nosferatu being the highest difficulty and by far, of course). Whatever clans have the fast movement skill are easy mode. :headbang:

I think you're never gated by a lack of either. The biggest skill gate I recall is Jiovanni mansion - you either need high persuasion, obfuscate or murderhobo through them.
Appearance is useless. All it does is lower prostitute cost, but I puke if I prey on them.
Unless you powergame skills, you want one talking skill and that skill should probably be persuasion. Seduction and intimidation are more niche and are generally for roleplay.

Soak definitely does things, so armor is useful, especially in sewers and other endurance tests.

IIRC I had no trouble feeding on mooks in Nosf mansion with brawl 6-7 and ran around with full blood constantly.
I'm doing the werewolf escape now, but I am slow and just get killed while trying to escape.
He's definitely solvable without speed buff. Git gud.
I'm still a noob
Depending on the ending you're, IIRC, 2-4 maps before end credits.
Nosferatu being the highest difficulty and by far, of course
Of course not. Obfuscate+Potence = raep.
Whatever clans have the fast movement skill are easy mode.
Yep.

Yep.
I'm doing the Chinatown battle now, which I reckon is the last one before final dialogue. I didn't investigate too far not to overtly spoiler myself, although I do know the endings. I insta-died and idk why, so I'm taking a break, but I'd prefer to finish the game today, so I can move on, as tomorrow is a very long work-day.

I'm done with the game. The last boss-fight was a slog, and then the ending is a bit on the nose, but knowing the development history + the amount of NPCs outright telling me not to, I think it is fair, although AFAIK most endings are "bad". I think it fits the theme perfectly. Anyway, now I have to do the after-sex (games are like sex, you need to rest after) routine, before I can move onto another game.

You do not want to give your kids any machine with unrestricted internet access. A console is great because you can give it to your kid and walk away and not worry about that.
I wanted to Agree react but console games are all brainmelting troonslop nowadays.

Things going great on the hardware front https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/06/25/ ... ce-update/
Effective August 1, 2026, we will be updating prices worldwide. The price of XBOX consoles will increase by US$100 for 512 GB models and US$150 for 1 TB models. We will also be sunsetting our 2 TB model.

Last October, we increased XBOX console price by $20-$70 in the U.S. We hoped another price increase would not be necessary, and we have spent the last several months working with suppliers on options. Unfortunately, console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x and we expect another doubling by the fall of 2027.
Today we are also sharing programs to make XBOX consoles more accessible:

Buy Now, Pay Later: We’ve made it easier for players to use Buy Now, Pay Later options on eligible XBOX hardware purchases through Microsoft Stores, making it possible to break up your payment into predictable short-term, interest-free installments.

Interest Free Financing: Players purchasing eligible XBOX hardware through Amazon can take advantage of 0% APR financing for up to 12 months, giving players more flexibility with lower monthly payments and more budgeting control.

Previously Played Consoles: We are working with retail partners on new programs to provide previously played consoles at lower prices. Players who are ready to upgrade or no longer use their console will be able to trade it in with participating retail partners for cash or store credit. Those consoles will then be made available at lower prices for players.

Certified Refurbished Consoles: XBOX Certified Refurbished Consoles are available at Microsoft Stores for up to US$100 off MSRP.
Imagine being the person dumb and poor enough to buy a console through an installment plan.

For these humongous projects like Genshin which hire several hundred developers (a lot of them fresh out of college), assigning new hires to develop minigames is a safe way to get them acquainted with the tools and production pipeline, and lets them be creative and do whatever they want with little risk. If it turns out to be meh, then no harm no foul, people just won't do the minigame and won't complain. As opposed to if that developer touched the core gameplay people have expectations for like a main story level or dungeon or boss fight or a newly released character/class.

It is also an easy way to add more "value" to the game and keep people in your ecosystem, rather than turning off the game to go play another company's game. It's why Mihoyo developed Miliastra Wonderland (Roblox mode in Genshin) and is now making even more gangbusters because of it (though also because Roblox never cared to try to grow in China so Mihoyo beat them to it as first mover there).

I'm curious about this, could you elaborate? Some time ago I watched a Ruben Sim video about how roblox dropped the ball in the Chinese market and it seemed to me at least that they did all the correct things, bent over and submitted to Tencent, but still got felted by gaming regulation. As much as I'd like to hate on roblox for fostering what appears to be one of the worst environments for children in online gaming, I'm not sure what exactly it was that they did wrong. Ruben suggests they shouldn't have partnered with Tencent though it sounds like the regulations would have got them one way or another. Really is one of the worst types of games to run afoul of Chinese regulators.
This is the video btw

Why Roblox Failed in China
When Mihoyo blew the roof with Genshin Impact and got noticed, Mihoyo and Genshin were designated as a key national enterprise and export, and Mihoyo founder Liu Wei was appointed as a CCP officer. A CCP office was established on Mihoyo's Shanghai office. Mihoyo has a direct in to government support that a foreign company like Roblox was several degrees removed from and did not have the sympathies of the government.

Otherwise, Genshin has a more appealing aesthetic out of the box. You can use character and creature designs and environment art already in the main game. And Miliastra Wonderland's editor/GUI is far more friendly to casual players. It is close to Spore's adventure editor than to a game engine like Roblox. You don't have to code.

Its really funny how lack of difficulty affects everything in game development.
Consider these three things:
People want long playtimes, so if a game can be completed in like 1 hour, its not worth a 60 dollar purchase.
Also, games need memorable moments.
But also, games need to be easy as possible.

The contradiction between those three cannot be understated. If you place a quest marker to a NPC that means the player can now make a straight line to said NPC, I'm sure everyone here knows a straight line is the shortest path between two points. A easy boss means you're going to beat it on the first try. As a AAA dev you need to spend twice the effort to make half the game because of things like this, because the game will finish it in half the time. When a difficult game makes a boss it takes twice as long to complete it, because the player has to learn the boss, get better at the game, and actually beat it beyond the first try. If you make your game just a little more difficult you will get that more bang for your buck for all your effort.

Don't give them your money with Olden Era. It is designed to look like mobile slop and many units which would be men or monster were replaced with women, some of which are negroes.
