I hate final bosses. Knowing there's nothing past them kills my motivation if it's taking me multiple attempts. I've dropped many a game at these ****.

If she had kids when she sould have, aged 18-25, then her children should now have children, making her, literally, a granny.

need to start hitting people that demand "owning physical media" with hammers
no, you do not "own" your $700 ebay copy of a game any more than I own the same exact game on my SSD that I pirated from vimm's lair
rare exception made if you actually got some cool feelies or manuals out of it, but you probably didn't!

You do not want to give your kids any machine with unrestricted internet access. A console is great because you can give it to your kid and walk away and not worry about that.
Would you spoonfeed your kids which DOWNLOAD button is the real one?rusty_shackleford wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 09:17Your kid should know how to pirate by 6, 7 topsOyster Sauce wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 09:16I think it's probably better if you want to introduce young kids to viddy gamesrusty_shackleford wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 08:54need to start hitting people that demand "owning physical media" with hammers

I'm collecting stuff on my external hard drive. The only downside is that everything there is very poorly sorted, and you have to put in some effort to find something (My personal problem. Has absolutely nothing to do with the principle itself of collecting everything this way). On the bright side, I already have pre-patched releases there, including those with mods, versions of my favorite games, mods, emulators, patches, etc. A whole lot of everything.rusty_shackleford wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 08:54need to start hitting people that demand "owning physical media" with hammers

Though physical media is where the true connoisseurs are, digtial goods are for more normie peasants. ;-P
I will never buy another physical PC game again, and even now looking at my collection, I feel "I don't want to go forth with the effort of installing this."
lol, the effort. It takes so much work to put a disc in a drive.
You could run into issues depending on the OS and if it is a 32bit game.mattig wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 20:51lol, the effort. It takes so much work to put a disc in a drive.
"I don't care what they tell you in College of Winterhold, Tiber Septim was a Redguard.β
I miss having internal drive bays. Now I'd have to connect the external drive via usb and hope it works then wait during that long install process (sometimes requiring multiple discs for particularly old games that needed multiple cds) - in 2025 when I tried to install my copy of Oblivion that I bought in 2017, it didn't work. I ended up rebuying it on Steam at a deep discount.mattig wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 20:51lol, the effort. It takes so much work to put a disc in a drive.
Then there's the aggravation of disc check DRM, though I suppose there are nocd cracks for that, hope there's no malware attached.
I actually just built a new machine with an internal drive bay. Specifically because I have a few old games you just can't get anywhere.Roguey wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 21:36I miss having internal drive bays. This plus I ponied up for a Blu-Ray drive to watch some region 2 Blu-Rays I got shipped on Amazon. (plus there's ways to watch any region without tying down your drive to any one region)mattig wrote: β June 23rd, 2026, 21:38I actually just built a new machine with an internal drive bay. Who is Jason Schreier and why do leftist gamers like him so much?
Games journalist from Kotaku and SomethingAwful poster (now a ResetEra poster) who managed to get employed by Bloomberg news as their games industry insider. Lots of Western AAA game devs email him about what is happening inside their companies behind the scenes. He gets exclusive interviews, etc. He interviewed a lot of Blizzard employees and wrote and published a revisionist history book about Blizzard.mynameismortis wrote: β June 24th, 2026, 14:59Who is Jason Schreier and why do leftist gamers like him so much?

Yes, it could be worded better, but you know what "ownership" actually applies as and to here.
A version that cannot be revoked or invalidated for use or messed with to change in any way not accepted by the user.
