I ended up making a warrior. Completely lost as to what to do in the early game, though.
Where you guys at? Saw Oyster once and that was it.
I'll be around more this week, been rough with work.

Never seen an MMO developer behave like this before.

Shroud of the Avatar has like 15 players and they did a month-long rollback because of duping. EQ is one of EG7's top earners and they just shrug when trillions of plat + millions of every tradeskill item gets injected into every server simultaneously. The only place you can find a comment from a developer — stating nothing will be done — is in ******* discord, complete silence on their site/forum. If you complain on the forum, it gets deleted.

Half-tempted to write a long letter to EG7.

****.
Someone really needs to leak EQ's client+server+database like they did with SWG. I can't believe EQ is being held hostage by these incompetents.

After roughly 3 hours, it did indeed get approved if you want to leave an additional message or something.

It's a good post, but hacks happen. EQ is a very legacy/niche/antiquated product. There's far more pressure on the exploit end than there is vigilance on the maintenance end.

Welp, I was on the fence and now I'm glad I didn't do squat.

Why cheat in a retro server? I don't get it.
But I've never really played an MMO, so maybe I can't get it.

But there's no excuse for not rolling the servers back.
Progress earned can be returned via bonuses, you can't undo what the exploits did to every server.

Assumes they have the ability and resources, which they might. There may be some delay in a policy decision like this.

I at least assume they have the ability to turn the ******* servers off after it's being widely exploited rather than leaving them on for another 20 hours.

If it were me I would not roll back until I understood how the exploit happened, which may require leaving things as is for now.

All you had to do to trigger it was craft while using your tradeskill depot(bank for tradeskill materials). Meaning it was widely used by large amounts of the playerbase.

To be clear, this is most likely the worst mass exploit I've ever seen in all my time playing MMOs.

I'm assuming, (assuming mind you) that there are flags in place that go off if someone suddenly gets a whole bunch of money or resources for this kind of problem. UO had them.

Oakwynd specifically needs a roll back or they need to cut and run and start a new TLP. At the same time they should find a more organic way to sink that extra plat into something useful. As I recall the jackpot in EQ2 started as a way to deal with a plat dupe.
Right now a few items are at reasonable prices and everything else is literally unobtainable by anyone who didn't get a piece of the action. As for people who have piles of plat AND trade mats, they have the power to control the entire tradeskill market as they see fit.

I'm surprised at how many ******* I'm seeing saying this is somehow a non issue for a TLP server and "lol just buy krono bro." and you can't tell me the DPG doesn't salivate at the idea of a krono driven economy.
