*Grab the flag* Huff it out of there. ****! Can't go this way too many.... re-route... *See brother in distance* have to get to him!

I love the feeling you get from some tracks. VG music will always be my favorite things to listen to. I can recall a track that fits perfect in just about anything I play. Library is extensive with dl'd OST tracks. Get in the right 'zone' and you play better... feel invincible.

**** you **** already got to all the obvious answers. I really like the MGS3 soundtrack. The music is pretty perfect for the gameplay with a few stand out tracks that are just enjoyable as pieces of music. I still listen to some of the easter egg healing radio songs.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

Don't worry about it, just asking as someone suggested it but a lot of posters get antsy over any merges.

Enjoyed OST a lot even though I remember Quake 2 only vaguely.
"Descend into Cerberon" is an absolute chef's kiss.

Daniel Deluxe also did an amazing job on Ghostrunner. Very good cyberpunk music.

Here's a classic from Silent Hill 2:

Just write out the entire SH2 soundtrack at this point. But in all seriousness, it's an example of a soundtrack feeling less like a "bunch of songs" and more like an "album experience" to me. Every track on that OST is solid.

My personal favourites are these (excluding Theme of Laurawhich is universally loved).

One of the best dungeon crawlers ever made happens to also have one of the best soundtracks. :music:

  • Icewind Dale
  • Captain Claw
  • Quake 2
  • System Shock 2
  • Warhammer 40,000 - Mechanicus
  • Diablo 2
  • DooM (Especially the 3DO version of the soundtrack)

Honorable mention to this OST for a cancelled game:
Black Omen OST
In the summer of 1995, I was contacted by a man named Alex Gibson, founder and CEO of Young Gods Studios, a tiny software development company that had formed earlier that year. Though they had yet to release a game, they had many ideas that were innovative and cutting-edge. In particular, they were inspired by another small software development company called Looking Glass Studios, who of course are well known for the Thief and System Shock series. In fact, Young Gods Studios was even based in the same building as Looking Glass Studios. At the time, Young Gods was working on a first person POV Sci-Fi horror/survival game known as “The Black Omen.” It was very much influenced by System Shock, which had come out the previous year to great critical acclaim. However, the Black Omen was to have had a more accessible UI, better graphics, and more action-packed gameplay. They wanted the complexity, atmosphere, and brains of System Shock along with the muscular brawn of Doom. The game was also influenced by films like the Alien series and the Evil Dead series, along with Stephen R. Donaldson’s Gap Cycle novels, along with a dollop of H.P. Lovecraft.

Tiberian Sun - The Full Soundtrack

Also Everquest I mostly don't care for the music but some of the tunes are amazing like this:

back when Spyro the Dragon franchise felt like dark fantasy for kids, and the music gave you holy chills. it's like it was written to be played for some grand *** crusade, and the lyrics are written in Latin (for a game about a little purple dragon, just to remind you)
Signalis had a chance to be my second favorite Silent Hill-esque game + it was one of the few King in Yellow interpretations that wasn't wasn't set in 1920s and didn't have a cliche *** depressed alcoholic detective as your player character... except they made two protagonists lesbians, which was absolutely unnecessary and revolting, no thanks for that :yuck: but at least the OST made it
Silent Hill music, naturally. liminal spaces when they weren't as popular as of now, but in form of music, don't need no introductions. not gonna post "Theme of Laura", "Room of Angel", "Wishful Thinking", "End of Small Sanctuary" or "Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me" (and many many other) tracks for obvious reasons, so here's less popular tracks i liked listening to during playthroughs
my list of fav video games music is much longer, but i'll post just these for starters

More Jeremy Soule, but a more understated OST, great for working on stuff without being distracting:
Dungeon Siege - Full Soundtrack
