Hibernaculum - Sci-Fi Survival Horror Blobber

Post by Tweed »

Wormwood Studio's next big thing is about to enter Kickstarter and it's looking pretty good.
https://www.hibernaculumgame.com
WHAT IS HIBERNACULUM?
Hibernaculum is a retro inspired dungeon crawler that sets out to recreate the engrossing labyrinthine experiences of the classics of days gone by, whilst also building a modern, deeply unique & explorable world of survival, mystery and macabre intrigue.
Hibernaculum is a first person sci-fi/horror role playing game with survival horror roots.
Create a unique character to explore the depths of Hibernaculum & have the experience you want to have. Choices only matter, if they matter to you.
Non-linear gameplay allows for exploration at your own pace, and in your own fashion. Forge ahead and risk calamity or riches. Conversely, pace yourself and avoid harm.
Navigate a decayed industrial realm through environmental storytelling and a unique, brooding atmosphere.
Hibernaculum will be developed in C++ for PC (Windows) & Mac with hopes for porting to iOS & Nintendo Switch.
Hibernaculum will initially be available in English, French, German & Spanish.
Hibernaculum will be released DRM-free & available on Steam & GoG.

Looks very good, and Primordia was great, so at least it has some potential.

Real-time combat might work well with the horror aspect, though I'd still prefer turn-based.

What kind of real-time combat, the rigged side-stepping one that is fairly popular?

theres other videos on the channel that give a little more sense of what combat might be like. almost looks like it will be a grid based first person shooter

reminds me of some of these older Alien Trilogy style first person shooters, post-Doom but pre-3D space becoming common in gameplay, where they were still very close to dungeon crawlers and had no vertical space

This is giving me a single screen Hired Guns vibe. Consider me interested.

They already exposed him on the codex awhile ago and roasted him for it. He stopped posting.

I thought MRY (Yohalem) had a big falling out with Pflug last year? And their site is now saying they're each doing their own thing under the collective label of Wormwood - how does that even work

Their games are way too insignificant for any drama, nobody cares.

TL;DR:
  • Victor starts freaking out about a year ago about wanting the rights to Primordia to himself, claims everyone is trying to steal it from him, tries to take royalties away from other developers.
  • Victor does the professional thing during alleged lawsuit and rants and raves on the Codex the entire time instead of keeping quiet.
  • The Codex, already apathetic to start with, gets sick of the ongoing ranting, especially after they find out that Victor is a *****/***.
  • Codexers doubt there's any lawsuit in the works.
  • Victor receives offer of animation studio wanting to make Primordia into a movie, but he's too bitter and closes down the deal. Potentially cheating himself out of vast amounts of income.
  • Victor continues to spiral out of control with rantings about game development.
  • Infinitron is forced to clean up the thread as Victor starts spamming to try and bury posts he doesn't like, this makes Victor even more unhinged.
  • Victor admits to being mentally ill. Keeps spamming and starting new threads. Keeps screeching for Wadjet Eye Games (WEG) to respond to him.
  • Victor keeps posting the same evidence over and over about how bad Dave Gilbert and co are, anyone who might have cared stopped long ago and Victor still hasn't contacted a lawyer.
  • Codexers notice posts going missing and begin to harass Victor (even more) openly.
  • Codexers remind Victor that nobody signed the WEG contract he keeps mentioning making it useless.
  • Victor starts posting sketches and concept art as if this somehow proves his ownership to people on the Codex, because the Codex controls IP law.
  • Victor can't keep his insanity contained to one thread so Codex mods help him.
  • More deletions. Victor keeps spamming the same post over and over.
  • Victor requests banning, gets his wish when Infinitron bans him for thread sabotage.

He reminded me more of Satan from The Passion of Christ movie, but I am not sure if it might be a compliment to these people.
