Is watching negative videos on a game you don’t play a good use of your time?

Is there really still seethe taking place about this game? after playing for 82 hours all I can do is laugh. Time is going to be very kind to perception of Crimson Desert and it is objectively the gold standard now for open worlds in this type of game. It's so good that I genuinely think anyone who actually played it and doesn't like it is a *** and I'm not kidding

Can't be bothered with this ugly *** game, that looks like a single player mmo bloated with **** mechanics from tons of other games and overall having a distinctive weeb vibe to it. The whole thing looks autistic.

I like this game despite missing that stuff, not because of it. Hopefully Pearl Abyss hires an ethics department for their next game.

It's strange that people are bashing this game for it's weak story and empty feeling world when Elden Ring featured the same **** and won GOTY.

Strange indeed, especially how vocally and vehemently people are bashing it. Although there are valid criticisms to the game, it seems grifters looked at this and thought it'd be another soulless AAA open world ubislop easy to take shots at and get clicks out of. No one knew what to expect from Crimson Desert. The first singleplayer attempt from a studio previously only known for making an MMORPG is a much easier target than the latest and greatest flagship title out of Fromsoft, a darling among gamers for its outstanding singleplayer RPG legacy. As soon as there were rumors that it focused on open world exploration and even had its own ubisoft towers, the youtubers got their greenlight. But they picked the wrong target.

While there is an enormously open world with a barebones story, its players seem quite happy with it, especially with the exploration. There's an audience for that, which I assume also enjoyed Elden Ring as you mentioned. This game has found its audience, and they're okay with having a skeleton story that merely serves to prop up satisfying combat and exploration.

But I should mention that while Elden Ring's story is weak, it is salvaged by the lore so people are also more forgiving thanks to that. I haven't seen any writing in this game worth discussing so far.

Eldenring has its lore on the items like all souls games. The story you will have to either read through that or watch videos from vaati on youtube. The good thing of that is you dont have npcs talking into your ears all the time while you also have to escort them like in CD sometimes. You can actually focus on gameplay and dont get a visual novel/movie game.

Also Eldenring gives you estus flasks, in CD you have to waste time cooking and farming ingredients or money. The hitboxes of the bosses are better and they also telegraph their attacks better. Also you dont have to level up 3+ different characters to get access to all their tool kits.

Also Eldenring doesnt throw 2 hours of sky island puzzles at you just to be able to use elemental bow shots.

World design wise both games arent that great, they both were made via procedural generation and not full handcrafted except for towns and points of interests etc. I would have also preferred a more linear experience like the dark souls series. Also better for invasions if you can choose areas like the catacombs in ds3 with traps if you are up against 2+ people most of the time.
