I had pretty much forgotten how this remake is still a thing until now, don't really think I'll play this even for free, like these ***** have even ****** up the combat.

Better off trying to learn either Polish, Russian, or German and installing mods.

I like how no one ever bothers to look for cyrillic versions of fonts.

Unfortunately I still haven't played this game and the sequel properly but I found this site the other day, it's pretty cool I believe: https://gothicarchive.org/
► Show Spoiler
EDIT: These lads seem to be working on a game inspired by Gothic called Phoenix. :scratch-pipe:

A pretty cool site, thanks for sharing! They apparently want to make a game that implements the original vision of Gothic from the early design documents.

Liking 2 less than 1 so far. The setting feels like a huge downgrade. Penal colony cut off by a magical barrier with magic ore for currency > black/mexican/arab infested generic town cut off by the ocean with gold coins for currency.
Is it weird that we typically say "gold coins" and not "golden coins"?

Oblivion being made fun of for reducing the number of gear slots when Gothic II has significantly fewer is very funny (Skyrim has twice as many lol lmao)

Also has very little equipment altogether, rarely get new armor
Gothic games are RPGs because of design, very weak on the mechanics

No, because the gold describes what's in the coins, not merely their physical appearance. A "golden" thing is just yellowish, and generally contains approximately 0% gold, whereas a "gold" thing contains at least some meaningful % of gold.

No. A "gold coin" is usually a coin made of gold, while a "golden coin" could be anything painted gold.

Is Gothic 3 worth playtime? I keep getting mixed ideas, some say 3 was good some say it is dog doo doo not made by the same people. Want to play through the series in one complete swoop of 1-2-3. And won't play 3 if it is just a headache.

I think there was a mod needed which fixed a lot of the bugs. Maybe someone here remembers it I dont. Probably worth playing once, certainly better than most modern **** these days. Just a lot bigger in size than the first 2 games and less memorable.

I thought it was pretty great. Just make sure you use the fan patch. Also turn the view distance up to insane levels. Makes the game more immersive.

It is not as good as 1 or 2 and is a little badly made and has stupid parts, but it's fun enough.

If you don't want to bother with modding Gothic 3 yourself I packaged the version I prefer into a single download fyi
viewtopic.php?p=190570-gothic-3#p190570

I had a lot of fun with it and imo underrated. Definitely bad without mods but the community did a ton of work.

It's the roi parameter or whatever, I mention it in the post I link above. It only simulates the game in a tiny radius by default and yea it becomes super immersive if you crank it up.

Soooo, kind of like most bethesda games. kinda jank and bland up front, but 10 mods and 2 unofficial patches later it starts getting good.
