While I have a general sense of sympathy for anyone who loses their livelihood, especially when it's most likely due to project mismanagement from someone above them, I'm also horribly racist, sexist, and am fully aware that most of the games industry employees fired since 2021 were probably all DEI/ideologue hires that brought nothing of value to their teams except headaches and HR investigations.

There are plenty of examples of single-person/small teams building indie hits with no funding or self-funding. So, if these people are as "indispensable" and "talented" as they claim, it doesn't take much to build a prototype and throw it on Steam as EA. Unfortunately, that would take initiative, self-motivation, self-reflection, and actual coding ability. They can always utilize AI tools to help them, but then most would be hypocrites, considering they're usually the same people complaining about companies using AI in games, while monitoring the subreddits they moderate.

They race-swapped some people in a cinematic most probably ignored, you spend half a second scrolling past the ****** in the character selector, and one minor in-game NPC was race-swapped (the most serious offense). If that's all they did, it's a low bar for "shits all over." It would be one of the weakest outrage lists for any modern remake.

This is the bulk of most industries, not simply the game development ones. It is a **** show out there, where incompetence due to "buying" into the whole DEI **** has created failed business practices be it small, medium or large. Women have done "SERIOUS" damage to business over the decades and this was well before the hype of the DEI era. They have been ******* up work environments for a long time now, the whole placating to DEI was just the breaking point that brought it all to the front. It will take decades to repair this, and the repair will only happen when reality is confronted, which... is honestly unlikely because even when you catch the so called "conservatives" and "right wing" types, they are so far indoctrinated they can't see the forest for the trees.

I've posted it before, but I've scraped thru the bottom of the Steam barrel and there are very few games that have sold significantly less copies than I think they "should" have relative to my judge of their quality based upon their screenshots/videos/overall presentation. If you make an actually good game, word of mouth spreads fast.

A corollary to this is there are a lot of games that sell much better than they should have relative to their quality. The market often greatly overvalues games, it rarely undervalues them!

I suspect what is happening is people are upset their games aren't being overvalued.

Here in Washington which is where Microsoft is headquartered the last governor, Jay Inslee, signed a DEI initiative which states that Washington will be willing to give a company huge tax breaks if they follow their DEI policy. The reason you see so many Pacific Northwest companies are so DEI happy is because they were bribed by the Democrat party with tax breaks if they follow along. This is the reason why you are seeing unqualified HR ladies get put into positions of power in these billion dollar companies.

A lot of the ***** you see in positions of power in places like Microsoft got into their positions because their fathers worked in the Seattle tech industry during the 90's and 2000's and their fathers used their positions and seniority to get their spoiled brat kids a job. Once again nepotism ruins everything. The thing is that you can't really just blame ***** for doing this as the Mexicans, Somalis, and Chinese do the same thing too. It's one of the reason why nobody can get a job here in this state. All these jobs are taken over by immigrants who only hire within their race or family.
