Biotics are only cool in the first gaem, because 2 and 3 have stupid shield/armor/barrier system. And if you play on easier difficulties where most enemies have no shields to block the biotics, you don't need those anyway.

I hate all of them, except Reapers. But those stopped being cool because of the 3's ending. So I'll go with Protheans, because they conquered everyone and had slaves.Oyster Sauce wrote: β January 30th, 2026, 20:36Which non-human race is your favorite?Stanko wrote: β January 30th, 2026, 20:34Adept in 1. But seriously: both tech and biotic abilites for most combat situations + tankiness because of the armor and shields.

in ME1 it's really cool because every battle starts with strategic planning, a chain of abilities, a load of blasting, then reacting to the enemy with various counters as the battle unfolds.Oyster Sauce wrote: β January 30th, 2026, 20:31What's your favorite class? It was another reason I liked running with Tali and Wrex. (I swapped Wrex for Garrus now and then if needed someone for a more long range mission).
His full name is Zaeed Massani, so he seems to be some variation of Italian-Arab, raised in Britain, lol.Reichspepe wrote: β January 30th, 2026, 20:38Yup. As to classes, I played Adept (Full Biotic) and Soldier on later playthroughs, but both just weren't as fun as Vanguard.
Vanguard has it all. An almost-full range of Biotics (just missing Singularity and Stasis, I think?). Wrex brought Stasis and Tali brought the tech, so with sniper rifle scope unlocked (even if not proficient) it was a good all rounder, with medium-close range combat fully locked down.
Fight at medium range? Sling in biotics. Fight at close range? Well, you have a shotgun.
ME2 had the cool Biotic Charge, so you could dive in and blast them centre mass, then slink back to medium range if needed and continue slinging biotics.
While fighting up close you can always command your allies to shoot some other biotics passed your shoulders, such as Lifting the enemy while you blast them. It really synergised with teamwork.
For me it was the most fun class as the battles were always varied. Shephard being cream-of-the-crop SpecOps also fit with that play style, since he'd have a decent amount of training in all styles to handle whatever environment he ended up in.

Just learned that the ME2Recalibrated mod author threw a fit when Nexus told him that "No, you ******, you don't have the exclusive dibs on making your mods for the Mass Effect remasters. Anybody can mod whatever they want." and deleted literally everything, from his mods to his forum presence.
You gotta throw these people into boiling tar pits.

Indeed. The shared cooldown ****** me off so much. It COMPLETELY removed that "tactical" gameplay and planning I used to love so much from ME1, where every time I went into a room with enemies I could plan out a series of moves, THEN go in blasting.
Stupid considering for anyone who just wanted to run and shoot, they could just pick soldier or something.
The clips were ******* ********, considering the non-ammo based gameplay of ME1 felt so Sci-Fi and was backed up by the codex. You can just tell some EA-style suit got their claws into it and "well all the big games like God of War and Call of Duty use ammo and cover, so we have to do that, too".
I modded the Biotic cooldown to be pretty much 0 (tweaking HP and other stats to compensate), which let me use multiple abilities, but even then it had a small, shared cooldown so there was no tactical planning anymore.
Everything just felt so much like a "game", rather than immersing me in the world.
Heck because of the stupid ******* shield "mechanic" they pulled out of their ***, they then give you the SMG (stupid) as the counter to it. Typical "simon says" ******** from developers with their heads up their own arse, wanting you to play how THEY want, rather than how YOU want.
I'm sure most of the battles just felt like brainless "gamey" arena fights, too. Walk into room, have a load of enemies spawn, kill them, wait for next wave, etc. Blergh.
The costumes and reddit crew were ridiculous. Wasn't it this one they put that RL journalist in-game on the ship? (Conflict of interest, much?) or was that ME?
Like I said. ME1 was an RPG that just happened to have some shooting as it's method of combat.
ME2 is a shooter that markets itself as an RPG.

But I'm using this bundle because it also lets you scan planets for resources in one click.

Sure, it's cheating, but spending hours slowly combing every planet for a crumb of resources is not fun after the first dozen times you have to do it.
They put Jessica "I lick dirty gaming handhelds" Chobot into Mass Effect 3 as the host of BattleTits. Probably because she slobbed off some producer or other. She can't act and doesn't look all that appealing in her 3D form.

I think after that she only appears in a random news report in ME2, sends you an e-mail and dies offscreen in ME3 .
So, pretty non-important NPC, yet she's very loved by the fans. Either that, or literally anyone is more preferable than Allers.

Did a short "joke" run of ME2, because some guy did some math and I was intrigued. The point of the run is to complete the final mission with as few party members and as few loyalty missions completed as possible without anyone dying.
1. You recruit the first batch of mandatory companions + Zaeed, and leave Kasumi, Thane, Samara and Legion out.
2. You get Normandy upgrades from Jacob, Garrus and Tali.
3. You complete loyalty missions for Tali, Jack and Miranda/Jacob. Jacob is better, if you're speedruning through the game and don't have enougn paragon/renegade to keep both Jack's and Miranda's loyalties.
4. Spam N7/Firewalker missions to trigger Collector Ship and IFF, go for them as soon as they're available.
5. Tali goes into the vent, Jacob/Miranda is the fireteam leader. Jack does the biotic bubble, Jacob/Miranda are leaders once again, Tali escorts the crew. For the final boss you pick Jack and Jacob/Miranda.
Now you've only completed 3 loyalty missions, you still have 4 companions to recruit, and you've saved everyone without any losses.
I have no idea why you would do a run like that, except for science and ****. Going to do the rest of the missions later, see if they change at all.

When Mass Effect 2 released I replayed it to see what it would take to make it a true suicide mission where everyone dies. Takes more effort than a run where everyone makes it.
