Sword Hero - Gothic-like RPG

Post by Finarfin »

Image
Game is a mix of fantasy and sci-fi set in a world similar to Gothic, both from atmosphere and how people talk and react to you.
Devs themselves also list Gothic as their inspiration and it shows.

A seamless open world, full of secrets and stories to tell, closely following the style of the cult-classic Gothic series. No invisible walls - you go wherever you please right from the beginning! Just watch out - The wilderness of Wes is unkind to the unprepared, with beasts such as the Greyskin, Giants, Dragons and other monstrosities roaming the land, in a strictly non-level-scaling fashion.

Watch as the enemies that obliterate you at the beginning of the game will run screaming at the sight of you once you become powerful enough.
You are on the island of Wes, where you are "DER NAMENLOSE HELD" becoming someone by joining one of the three major factions. One looks like natives in tune with nature. One looks like a european knight faction and one has red armor with a emblem that looks like either a hydra or dragons.

The game itself has dozen of dynamic systems, from dangerous weather types, NPCs with their daily routines and memories to crime and reputation system and a limb-based directional combat.

You can be a famous hero to a feared villain or something inbetween.

Seamless Open World, no invisible walls to keep you from somewhere.
Day and Night Cycle
Faction skirmishes
Housing and Businesses, furnish them if you want or rent out
Colossal Creatures
Persistent World meaning simulated wounds, infections, decapitation, burning vegetation, corpses do not disappear but nature takes its course.
Character Progression changes your character too. Muscular the higher your strength. You get scars, you can lose limbs and then replace them with powerful prostethics, get magical tattoos and even more.
Non-Leve Scaling. Every enemy are organic parts of the ecosystem. A wolf in the first area doesn't turn into a bullet-sponge at the end of the game.
Living World, be a part of a world that changes even if you are not around.
An epic story that spans across 6 Chapters.
A Combat demo is available now!

the aesthetic is very popular right now for some reason, doesn't even resemble any game that ever existed

then again, the faux retro 2d pixel games didn't either

The demo is ******* AWESOME. Reminds me a lot of a mix of Gothic 1+2 plus an old jank as **** game called Die by the Sword that, like, ten people played back in the 90s. I can't wait for a full alpha of this to release for the open-world content.

For those that don't know...

Had its own move creator and an amusing magazine advertisement where you could cut out a dismembered kobold to hang up on a thread like a gruesome little mobile.

Alright, I backed the game on Kickstarter with $150 since I have a very good feeling regarding this game.
Edit: Apparently it is a bad thing to be excited for a videogame, gotta be doomerfaggots like the rest of the people on the HQ, so I withdrew the backing.

I don't whine. I've bought quite a few games based on the HQ already.
I just never get time to play them.

Looks interesting. I'll keep an eye on it for sure. Not going to back anything on Kickstarter though as I don't believe in supporting a project that's not fully materialized.

I didn't intend for that to come off as rude towards you @Finarfin, just that there have been a lot of kickstarter scams and there's a good chance you won't get any return on that money.

I've definitely been bitten a few times by KS. That said, I enjoyed the combat demo, what I've seen from the previews, and what the dev has shared as his philosophy for the game, so I threw my hat in for $40. Could the project stall after collecting the KS money? Sure. But, I know the risks.

Watched my brother play this yesterday for about an hour. Died to 3 big headed pale white cryptid looking things and one of them grabbed his body afterwards and carried him around to some braziers/fire pits and dropped him on one and caught his characters head on fire. Roasted him after the kill lol.

Whoa, I'm glad I checked this thread out! The Steam page mentions "replace your limbs with powerful Prostethics" kinda reminding me of IVAN and the video also shows a glimpse of that, **** cool if implemented in a thoughtful, fun way. :salute:

This game has an ongoing Kickstarter.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/it ... sword-hero

This is the team. I'd back the game on that reason alone.
