dog dream is a Russian meme coming from Lost tv series. Some people were butthurt with the show's ending, and interpreted it as "the whole thing was a dream, and not even some character's dream, it was all Vincent's dream" (because Vincent shows up during the last scene of the last episode). Whenever there's a book/movie/game/etc that has a stupid "it was all a dream / none of this was real" twist, people call it a dog's dream.
Basically this
No I will not watch Lost you can't make me. (it's a pretty popular show huh?)
Don't do it. It's peak "mystery box" writing from JJ Abrams, who was an executive producer. They wrote it as they went along, flying by the seat of their pants and end up fumbling almost all of the pay offs for the previous setups. It's trash. Everyone can dangle juicy mysteries in front of the audience, but the real quality is how you pay off those setups.
Just like with a good magician's trick, the applause doesn't come when the dove disappears. That's the easy part. To earn the applause, you need to bring it back.
I remember before it aired they were promoting Lost as "This isn't the X-Files, we have a plan, we're not making it up as we go along" (they were making it up as they went along).
This approach getting dunked on years later.
This is exactly why the Fallout TV show is absolute garbage. Even if you disregard how they destroyed the lore of the games and even if you turn a blind eye to all the woke ****, the show deliberately is counting on you to never rewatch it. The more the series comes to a close, the less the first episode makes sense. And the new Season has doubled down on it. It's the quintessential "don't ask questions, just turn your brain off and clap" type of writing. It should surprise no one that the normie cattle are eating it up, because they are NPCs without a soul or idiosyncrasies.
Metroid Prime(hack) complete with 95% item collection. Proper mouselook makes it much more comfortable to play but confers very little advantage in combat because the game already provides a lock-on feature. Probably the biggest advantage is the ability to easily snipe unprovoked enemies from a room's entrance.
I'd say I really enjoyed the first 60-70% or so while I was still discovering new areas, and then my enjoyment steadily declined as I had to backtrack repeatedly across the relatively large gameworld with no fast travel system. The late game bosses didn't help, either. The last few mostly shared the same design: long periods during which you cannot harm the boss and have to avoid big, obvious attacks, punctuated by brief vulnerability windows during which you try to pump as much damage into the boss as possible. I can see how they arrived at this design: the lock-on system means aim isn't tested, and Samus doesn't have any ability to avoid attacks besides running and jumping (edit: it turns out there's a dash-strafe maneuver, but I never discovered it because it requires using lock-on; clearly it wasn't an essential part of the design), so the only testable skills left are timing and basic movement. Seeing the logic behind it didn't make it any more fun in the moment, though.
I played the Japanese version, foolishly assuming that, as a core Nintendo IP, care would be taken to make a good translation. I was wrong! While I didn't see any grammatical errors, and the log text seemed alright (though I haven't confirmed against the English text), I discovered that tons of areas were renamed for no discernible reason. For example, Phendrana Drifts, the snowy region, was changed to アイスバレイ . There are at least three problems with this: the proper noun is replaced with generic garbage; Barei is presumably supposed to be Valley, revealing that the translator has no idea how English is pronounced; and it's been turned into Engrish instead of Japanese. These changes aren't limited to the region names, either. Metroid Prime has a name for every room. A cursory comparison revealed that the majority of room names were also changed. Bizarre!
Those criticisms aside, it's a good game. 2000s 3D in high resolution is probably the pinnacle of 3D aesthetics. It looked great and was highly atmospheric. The puzzles were generally enjoyable, and I was impressed at the inclusion of a few bomb jump challenges. I think this is one of the best 3D adaptations of a 2D series around.
I don't think I'm ready to jump straight into Metroid Prime 2, so maybe now I will finally finish 新説魔法少女+ and then move on to Reverse Collapse as I had originally intended to weeks ago.
Taking a break between the two is a good idea. Prime 2 has more backtracking due to the nature of its dark/light world concept. If you found the backtracking to be too much I'd suggest trying to play the next one without going for such a high item completion percentage.
I'd also say that, in general, my enjoyment from those games was higher the lower the number in the title so temper your expectations if you intend to play all of them.

There are two episodes that stand out as good television, but they can be watched out of sequence so you don't need to torture yourself for dozens of hours to enjoy them:
So... started playing Red Dead Redemption. I had it on switch emulator... never played it (as I have said in the past, not much of a console guy), and well.. FFS... the opening scenes are making me gag with all the BS politics obviously pushing a leftist garbage angle on things...
Is it worth playing? Should I keep going? I played a bit of RDR2 in the past (not a lot), but it didn't give me this reaction so quickly, but at least it was mouse/kb.
Not sure if I should bother being that I have suffer through using a **** controller though.
Graphically it's good and some of the gameplay mechanics are fun. I didn't find the story as great as everyone said. I got so bored during the ending I didn't finish it. I hated how slow and clunky the character movement was, especially around the camps. I don't remember any of the politics in it.

I'm trying to finish King's Bounty: Warriors of the North before I move on (and back) to other games I need to play and finish. I'll leave Dark Side for some other time since these games are all a thousand years long.

The opening scene is the typical anti-Christian and victim Indians script that was pushed in the 80's/90's. I half expected Kevin Costner to start narrating.
A rundown of some completed games over the last few months. All of them have been enjoyable enough and of satisfying quality to be recommended. Sorry if some information has been posted before.
Completed
DreadOut 2
Sequel to the janky Indonesian horror title DreadOut. Inspired by the Fatal Frame series. Improved on many things compared to its predecessor. New enemy types, more unsettling story sequences and a better atmosphere. Smartphone camera is used as main weapon again but the game switches it up with other types of weapons from time to time. Not the scariest title but it has had its moments.
Rating: 3.5/5.
Luigi's Mansion 3
Besides the main character's irritating characterization as coward, a decent game. Variety of locations, puzzles and fights. There aren't many ghost types for the common enemies so it is somewhat repetitive. Bosses are a welcome change. Biggest gripe is how the vaccum cleaner, Poltergust G-00, controls. Takes a bit of time getting used to.
Rating: 3/5.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
Compared to the first game, Kingdom Battle, it has more interesting locations, more engaging gameplay and better characterization. Highlight are the Rabbids including certain major NPCs.
Given its overall relatively low difficulty, a beginner-friendly entry title into the Turn-Based Tactics/Strategy genre.
Rating: 3/5.
Duke Nukem 20th Anniversary World Tour
Game was played on the eDuke32 Sourceport. As something was off with the controls with the Steam version. Only required the use of a cheat in Red Ruckus (Moscow) in Episode 5 to bypass a wall blocking progress. It was disabled immediately after.
In terms of enjoyment: Episodes 1-3 > Episode 4 > Episode 5.
The Duke is a great character. A decent variety of Weapons and Items is available. Level-Design has been all-around quite good even with a few cryptic puzzles like in The Abyss in Episode 1.
Definitely one of the best Boomer Shooters.
Rating: 4/5.
Janoski
Slavic 2D-Platformer/Metroidvania. Jump, Dodge, Fight. The player jumps into the role of a Slovak Highlander to rescue his group from jail. Difficulty isn't high and the game can be completed in a few hours. No woke elements.
Rating: 3/5.
Spyro the Dragon – 3 out of 5 (for both Original and Reignited Trilogy)
Inferior to the 2nd and 3rd title in the series.
The Reignited Trilogy has stayed very faithful to the original, though it has brought a few Quality of Life changes. E.g. Camera.
Torn on the new dragon designs. They do seem timid and inspired by works from Deviantart or Tumblr.
Rating: 3/5.
Evil Tonight
A pleasant surprise. Top-down Survival Horror with sprite graphics.
The protagonist, a female medium, explores an abandoned Theatre academy in Italy. All the characters are White. The story is overall fine with a bittersweet ending.
The player starts with a knife on the protagonist but quickly gets access to a pistol. A few more weapons are available later on. The game doesn't have a map screen but the map size is manageable. Difficulty is slightly above average. Ammo and healing items weren't scarce at all on Normal difficulty.
Took me 3.5 hours to fully complete.

Pizza Tower
There is a good reason why it has been so popular. Gameplay is fluid, fast and rewards the player with mastery in form of level-layout knowledge and mechanical skill. Not any easy game but neither too difficult. Each level has a different gimmick which enhances the gameplay. Has a cameo of Mort the Chicken from the PS1 game of the same name.
Bit irritating how Pepino acts timid around enemies.
Has an active Modding scene. New levels, new characters.
Rating: 4/5.
Vigil: The Longest Night
A 2D-Metroidvania with Souls-like elements, developed by a Chinese team. Meaning, the player has to be attentive and learn enemy patterns. Not many woke elements if at all. There was only one occurence where a woman was called a he and a man a she but that could have been some programming mistake. Has a female protagonist. Can't fully say that she is a girlboss.
The story takes place in a Lovecraftian setting with supernatural elements where the player explores crypts, forests, medieval towns both intact and destroyed. Some religious references to Christianity and Islam which can be moreso considered as inspirations. The latter only in form of one minor character in Act 1.
Throughout the game the player unlocks new mechanics, both general such as Dash and weapon-type-focused via Skill Trees on Level-Ups. Each weapon type (Sword, Daggers, Bow, Axe) has a skill tree. There is also a general one which can be considered Magic-focused.
Rating: 3.5/5.
Honorable Mention
Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise
Developed by the Ryu Ga Gotoku studio. Hence, gameplay is close to the Yakuza/Judgment series.
However, it has unique elements. Most notably, the player can make use of the Hokuto Shinken techniques during combat which lead to gory action scenes.
Story-wise I have read that it is an alternative take on the original.
Played it on Normal Difficulty up to Chapter 4. No woke elements. All the characters have been fair-skinned.
Hopefully it gets on PC in the future.

Currently Playing
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era (Demo)
Closest to HoMM3 in gameplay with enough difference to make it a unique entry into the series. Has a similar amount of woke elements to HoMM3. Lightbearers have to be turned into Gyarubearers.
The demo comes with access to 4 out of 6 factions with Sylvan and Hive being inaccessible to the player but otherwise appearing in the game. As of December 2025, only the Tutorial and Singleplayer are available.
Singeplayer has three modi: Arena, Classic and Single Hero. The latter two formats come with three Map Templates each, some familiar. Jebus Cross, Jebus Outcast, Memory Lane.
Arena has each player choose skills, equipment, spells and army units out of a randomized pool of similar strength. The hero him- or herself only reaches level 8. Once done, the two players dish it out in combat.
In Classic and Single Hero, a hero can reach level 30+ with stat increases only past 30. Attack, Defense, Spellpower, Knowledge. Same as in HoMM3.
Sulfur has been removed as a resource and got replaced by Alchemical Dust which has a different purpose. Alchemical Dust is used for Creature Upgrade buildings. Not so easily to get.
Spell Schools have also seen changes. Instead of Fire, Water, Earth and Magic, it is Daylight, Nightshade, Primal and Arcane. Each faction is leaning more towards one over the others. Such as Temple and Daylight or Schism and Nightshade. A welcome change has been the easier access to Dimension Door and Town Portal which is also linked to a level threshold. Level 9 for Town Portal if I remember correctly. Can't remember what else it had as requirement.
Skills have also seen some additions in form of bonus effects which can be chosen with their 2nd and 3rd tier upgrades. Heroes can also specialize into what can be called Subclasses. They require a number of specific skills learned/chosen to gain Hero-specific boni.
Each faction has their heroes divided evenly into half being combat-focused and the other being mainly spell-casters.
A big addition to the game is the Law Points System. These points are gained via the Solar Temple each faction has access to. It is like the Town Halld in HoMM3. Daily Gold income. Fortifications are represented by the Walls and their upgrades in Olden Era. Back to the Law points, they can be spent for faction-specific boni like stronger Necromancy, passive boni to creatures and greater creature growth, or for more resources. Each faction can get a consecutively bigger mix of Gold, Wood and Ore for a total of three times.
AI can't be as easily manipulated as in HoMM3.
All in all a promising title.
Rating: 3.5/5 with Potential to reach 4/5.

Steam reviews and threads talk a lot about a bug that causes the character's position on the map to not be displayed correctly. Did you have issues with that?
Lately I've been playing Xenonauts 2, still in development and janky, but you can complete it.
I want to like the game, it is still just undercooked. Somehow it's worse than Xenonauts 1, gameplay wise. It looks better, but both gameplay and pressure has been streamlined a lot. And the worldbuilding is just not working, like at all.
I think it is my aversion to "the multiverse" and "infinite dimensions", it's just ugh mid 2010s Marvelitis.
Anyway, I'm hoping it can be modded to become something special. Xenonauts 1 was not amazing, but with mods it became awesome.

Have they changed much from Xenonauts 1? Last I checked, people were complaining it was a less feature-complete Xenonauts 1 in 3D.

That's what I was going to reply, that X1 was good but the mods made it awesome. So, I expect the same with X2. However, I am weary of the science head that now seems to be somewhat of a stand-in for the writers, according to what I saw in a stream for the demo, or was it the closed beta? I don't remember. Anyways, how annoying are the talking heads now?

The talking heads seem bland at best, but really they're rather pointless. They show up rarely and their only purpose is to be a camouflaged tutorial text dump. The science-guy was quite entertaining in X1, but he seems to have lost that casual ruthless character he had in the first game.
I have been thinking about what the tone lacks and I think it is the alien threat feels almost manageable and not so alien. And the reason why the """aliens"" (they're from another dimension really) decided to go all in and invade Earth, is because we're polluting it so much and changing the climate which threatens the species on Earth and that's just not cool with the aliens.
The invasion and the aliens don't feel oppressive or alien enough for my tastes.
For better or worse the areal battles are basically pointless now, it's fine just to "autoresolve" them. If you keep up with the tech, you'll always spank those saucers - at least on normal difficulty.
Then there's the invasion itself. Basically every month or so a new wave hits, and it provides one or two new UFO types. Because of the new political system, you are only supposed to assault each type twice and after that you're supposed to just take the "bounty", a cash reward. Problem is cash is pretty much worthless, and you really want the alien resources and it feels strange that the game is designed to prevent you from playing the game.
Of course you can turn that feature off, but it is on by default.
The end game is incredibly unbalanced still, as you are super OP at the end and the aliens are there only to be crushed under your boot for your pleasure.

I'm playing Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, with only some bug fixing mods, the AI really impresses me, the enemies are constantly taking cover, trying to circle and sneak behind you, the best part is that neither you or them are bullet sponges, as any FPS should be.
The mutants are there, I guess, not as scary as I thought they would be.

Yes and no, it has features X1 didn't have, but those features are perhaps not that amazing. The tactical part is a bit more simplistic than X1 and not quite as charming graphics, the 3D is close to X1 but the hand drawn environment of X1 was quite good.
It's not an expensive game, and if you liked X1 you'll get 50+ hours out of it easily, so idk if I can be very negative about it. It's just not quite there yet. I guess we'll have to rely on modders like X1.

Steam reviews and threads talk a lot about a bug that causes the character's position on the map to not be displayed correctly. Did you have issues with that?
Can't remember, so leaning towards a no. The map areas aren't too complicated to find one's way around and FextraLife's wiki for Vigil has more detailed map images available. While an inconvenience when the bug occurs, it won't be too troublesome.
No woke elements. All the characters have been fair-skinned.
It's a series for men, ofc no woke stuff lol.
Did you know in the arcade game the very few playable female characters it had were WEAKER than the men? hahaha that was amazing!
A friend let me borrow that game back when it came out, it's pretty decent, I agree with the 3.5!
Yeah, fortunately. A breath of fresh air with all the disgusting slop nowadays.
Do you mean the fighting game for PS2 which got released for Arcade, by any chance ?
It's a Skyrim Christmas for me.
I couldn't be arsed to fight some of the mods, so I don't have much, just the easy to install stuff. I mostly just relax. No stealing, no siding with vermin. Just living a White life.
I'm playing Baldur's Gate II, like the first game I already had played it before, but without any strategy, and ended up getting stuck in the middle of the game. I can see why so many people think this is the best CRPG ever made, the new spells mages and clerics learn really makes you feel powerful, it's fun to easily kill demons who were final boss material in first game.
Almost released Keldorn from duty, then I saw Minsc and Korgan wouldn't scale to my level on recruitment and reloaded a save. Kinda immersion breaking that you can say to Keldorn's wife you will only keep him with you until you find Imoen when I already had rescued her, I would prefer to say "Carsomyr needs a wielder and the chaotic evil dwarf is still level 12", not that I can complain about it when I wanted the companions that spent their time in a tavern to be the same level as me.

I'm trying to finish King's Bounty: Warriors of the North before I move on (and back) to other games I need to play and finish. I'll leave Dark Side for some other time since these games are all a thousand years long.
First time hearing of this series. They look neat. Are they worth playing?
Same, that's almost all I've played since november thanks to the support they've provided over here to install modlist, big game changer, you should really give it a try.
It's been pretty fun, even if it's still Skyrim at the end of the day and full of it's notorious problems, the mods do help a bit with the extra content that makes me look out for new stuff like areas, quests, crazy spells a la Morrowind or just cool items to use. I'm trying to just relax like you and play, level up some skills, do a few simple quests and all that.

I'm personally mostly looking to the end of it, so I may be free. I may have to give Deus Ex another go if I manage to find a mod to make it easier for me.
