I really like the housing system but I dislike the fact that the house looks so much like horde barracks. I want something more blood elf-like.
Yeah can't do much for the exterior at the moment. I have been making a Tauren tent interior. Wish I could drape over the exterior of the house with the curtains and make a tepee but sadly those can't be placed outside. Or at least, not the big square curtains. The triangle curtains can so maybe if I buy a ton of those I could do it.

It is finished. For now.

I am completely maxxed out on the 200/200 exterior item decor limit. I used up I think 188 of the 200 exterior decor item limit just draping the horde house in poles and triangle curtains. I wound up having to use 4 of the free house window attachments (3 of them positioned in the back out of sight) just so I could skimp on some curtains so I would have any space left over for some additional decor in the yard. Really hope that the 200 limit gets lifted soon so I can add some barrels or a cattle pen.

For the interior, I am at 350/1155 decor item limit. I have checked out every decor item in my housing catalog, and looked up the database for items that are obtainable in this patch. There are a few items could grind rep for, but overall it seems that mostly everything else worth getting is crafted. The cheapest decor right is a potion that costs 9,450 gold, and everything else is 10k+. Those prices are a little nutty right now to be buying a lot of to try out let alone buy in bulk, so I'll wait a few days for things to calm down. I am hoping to find a way to increase the illumination of my hearth at the ground level. I stuck a hidden candle inside the fire, but it only increased the illumination by a little and only in a small area, not the whole room. I tried hiding a max scale chandelier underneath the floor, and it massively increased the illumination but I couldn't get it to actually stick there. Can't keep anything clipped below the floor like that.

The two housing zones available now are two brand new instanced islands that are vaguely off the coast of Orgrimmar and Stormwind and cannot be seen in regular Kalimdor/EK overworld maps. They said that they immediately discarded placing houses in the overworld because there isn't enough space and the quality of the old zones is too low. The housing zones are huge and take a couple minutes to dragonride across at max speed, and contain multiple biomes. The Horde one has a Durotar biome, Barrens, and Azshara. Alliance one has Elwynn Forest, Westfall, and Duskwood. The housing zones are modelled in Dragonflight level quality and look very nice. There is also a new tracklist of music that plays there.

There are 50 plots of land and you can claim any one of those plots for 1,000 gold. On that plot you can move your house around within the square boundaries of the plot. Unlike all other housing objects you can manipulate, the house itself does not have a vertical Y axis you can pull to move it up and down, but people have been able to place boulders underneath the house to get it to attach the boulder, and then they move the boulder up to levitate up the house.

You can move to any other plot for 1,000 gold and all of your outdoor house placement and decor is transplanted there, so you don't have to set everything back up again like moving in FF14.

The outdoor decor limit is 200 points but most items like fences cost 5 points so you run out of budget fast, Blizzard has said that they are working on raising the limit.

You can only have two houses total for your account, one Horde and one Alliance. Horde themed houses cannot be placed in the Alliance housing zone and vice versa.

The house interior is located in another instance. So in the housing zone, you walk up to the door, right click the door, and get teleported into the instance. In the interior, you can add rooms and make an interior that is much larger than what the exterior of the house would suggest. You can also add a skybox room that looks like it's outdoors, so you can make courtyards inside your house.

There is a new menu where you can press H to open the housing menu and then click a button to teleport to your plot. Once at your plot, you can press the same button to teleport back to where you were previously in WoW.

They are currently working on dynamic NPC pathing so that you can place your pets, mounts, and alts on your property and in your house and they would be able to move around it.

This sounds cool but will it have an actual active playerbase and not die after a couple months?

I think it would have been cooler to build a homestead in the existing zones. Even if other players couldn't see it unless they were in your party.

Would've been better to have houses for each character that only you can see and are themed after your race. It sucks having to play a Blood Elf who has a house that looks like some horde barracks yet the insides are modeled after silvermoon architecture.

There is Blood Elf exterior architecture in the prerelease screenshots for Midnight and they are slated to be available ingame when Midnight releases. The devs have said that they rushed the early release of housing so that they could feedback on what people most want for improvements, systems, features, etc.

I doubt they will add a housing zone for every race. The first heritage quest was added in 2018, and Blizzard has only JUST finally released one for the last race, Pandaren, almost 8 full years later. And that's just an armor set and a 20 minute quest per race, not a big zone. Blood Elves are very popular though so I'd imagine they will be amongst the lucky few races that will get another housing zone. Night Elves will probably get a Bel'ameth themed zone too. So far on forums, it seems that the most demand for housing zones are for neutral expansion zones like Nagrand, Grizzly Hills, Hallowfall, etc, so I'd imagine that they will pivot to adding neutral housing zones from expansion continents.

Personally I prefer the current FF14 neighborhood system setup. These new zones look much better than the old zones zone. I prefer my house to be in a 2025 level environment rather than a 2004 level environment. The areas are better tailor made for the current game with the velocities at which you are flying around, and the vague location makes it easier to RP groups since you can imagine that it's either some island off the coast, or a remote island in the ocean, or actually within the borders of a vaguely grand idea of the Kalimdor or Eastern Kingdoms. If a Northrend zone comes out then I imagine that a lot of Dwarf RP guilds will use that and pretend its somewhere near Ironforge or something, or that they colonized a part of Northrend.

I was going to ask this but hesitated, I recall hearing about Anarchy but thought I might be mistaking it for something else.

Good to know I wasn't wrong, now that I remember, I can see why I steered clear from it back then lol.

Not sure which is worse, the abysmal form or the plethora of spelling/grammar mistakes. The writing was always dogshit but they keep surpassing themselves (and I'm an ESL speaker, so I might miss some things). There's descriptions like that IG right now :

As embarrassing and cringe as that is, i've noticed my fair share of typos and grammatical mistakes in plenty of vanilla quests as well. Sometimes i think it's just private server jank(and it often is), but most of the time I end up checking the quest/book/dialogue text on Wowhead and it shows the same mistakes there.
Weird that Blizzard would change a bunch of **** in Classic like obscure NPC's named after someone who said something mean one time, or turn paintings of women into fruit, but couldn't be arsed to change a few typos.
