For discussing role-playing video games, you know, the ones with combat.

Are there casino games in the RPG?

Post by EchoCanvas »

Here's a question I've been wondering about... are there casino games in RPGs?

I've seen some approximations with slot machines in Gambeboy Advance Pokémon and similar minigames in FFVII with chocobo race betting.

But are there any that are more focused on actual casinos?

I started looking for them because they interest me, since I don't want to play at the casino and risk real money; I just want to have fun... for free :-D

That's exactly what a spammer would say.

To answer your question, Lufia 2 has a casino

Fallout New Vegas has gambling.
GTA: San Andreas has gambling.
RDR2's gambling is very satisfying because you can blow the head of that ******* ****** NPC that's been cheating you in poker with a sawed-off shotgun and then go on a killing spree to blow off steam.

Perhaps this is what you seek? Image
► From what I've read the sequel is less of an RPG. It removed the sections where you walk around and speak with NPCs.
Surprisingly I don't think the footage in the videos is from a translation patch, both of those games appear to have had an official english release for the NES.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online was one of the first MMOs I played. I remember spending much of my playtime at an inn and playing blackjack and poker.

Blackjack is a popular game played at housing venues in FF14, though there is no official ingame UI or system for it. Organized entirely by the players.

Granblue Fantasy has a casino gamemode called the Jewel Resort Casino. You can play Poker, Slots, and Bingo. I remember spending a lot of time playing the poker, though it is entirely a solo player thing. Also, the currency there is disconnected from the rest of the game, ie you won't use any currency or resources you use to upgrade your characters for combat or pull for characters. The casino currency there you earn can be accumulated to buy a few skins for the main characters of the Grancypher crew.

The first three Trails arcs have casinos, but they are only accessible at certain times. There is a casino in Ruan that opens in Trails in the Sky SC, and one of the doors/side chapters in Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a casino minigame. There is a casino in Crossbell city in its duology that is accessible almost all of the time and sometimes in Trails into Reverie. Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4 has a casino at Raquel which you can sometimes visit.

EVE online has casinos that bring in so much cash, they become alliance centerpoints.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not, because you have gambling as far back as Fallout 2. And even further, if you try to look a bit.

Also... Diablo II is a gigantic gambling machine. Just play that and get your kicks trying to get a 4 socket circlet. <3

In Dungeon Explorer 2 you can play blackjack with Death for a chance to win extra lives, losing a hand costs you one of yours.

You can play kino for various prizes in Shin Megami Tensei 2, including some overpowered gear if you're a ***** that uses save states to win all the time. You can also play russian roulette with several summoners for a chance to win one of their demons:

Questron 2 lets you play blackjack and high-low, but the game everyone remembers is wizard's squares where you drop a ball onto a colored square, if you bet on the right color, you win.

You can drop skulls into a cup for money in Wizards and Warriors 2.

You can play blackjack at the casinos in New Vegas until they toss you out for winning too much.

You can bet on cave hopper races in Underrail if the racetrack spawns in the game, you can also rig the game in your favor.

You can gamble in various games in Ultima VII, you have a much better chance of winning if you're part of The Fellowship and wearing your medallion.

You can play various casino games in Wasteland.

You can play slots in Fallout 1 and craps in Fallout 2.

You can play bombagun for money in ATOM: Trudograd.

You can play poker dice in The Witcher.

You can win huge amounts of money in The Magic Candle by pushing the wrong keys to make strange wagers.
