Is the Outer Worlds 2 the Fallout 2 of the francize?

25 years later and we're going through the same thing, except shittier. I think George Lucas said something about this kind of thing once...

This game ******* sucks. Feel like a fool for playing it as long as I did as it had managed to lure me in with decent gunplay but the writing is ******* soulless. I don't understand how so much money gets funnelled in to these projects but no-one thinks to rework the story and characters, the backbone of any good RPG.

I think the exact moment I quit was when we were off to confront this science faction and one of my companions said "lets put a hole in their math"

Yeah I don't know what Rusty was on about. 80% of leaders in this game are the standard girlboss.

As far as GRRRL power goes, TOW2 isn't even close to getting near the worst. The game is egalitarian in an annoying pre-GG libtard way. If you find it offensive, it's because you woke up and realized they boiled your frog *** in the pot, at least half of games are ruined for you now so don't go back and play them.
It's decent enough that I was willing to overlook it, but I can't overlook the bugs.
if your precondition for not playing a game is "it has an action girlboss", then the list of games you can play is really small, probably striking the top 10 rpgs in our top 10 list right off

Action girl is fine if there's a reasonable explanation like she's a kyptonian or has magic powers or something. Outside of that context it is not ok, especially if she's ugly and has a weak male sidekick to show how ****** men are.

I can't say any of my top RPGs have this kind of character.

dont do that libtard thing where they purposefully misinterpret what people very obviously mean by girlboss in a post gamergate context and pretend that any game ever made that has a girl doing something cool is the same thing

It was never the intention to create some kind of 'page 3' girl to star in Tomb Raider. The idea was to create a female character who was a heroine, you know, cool, collected, in control, that sort of thing. The problem with those other games is that the female characters are actually there for purely exploitative purposes. I know you could argue that Lara with her comic book style over-the top figure is exploitative, but I don't agree. I think it's ridiculous to say that portraying stylised people is degrading. You can represent an over the top hero figure by augmenting characteristics like a jutting jaw, wide shoulders, thin waist etc. and that is not degrading to men. It may well be a stereotype, but it seems to me that people are overanalysing this whole thing. It's pretty simple, if women in a game are only there to be the equivalent of quiz show floozies then they are being portrayed in a sexist way.
Lara Croft was made by a male feminist to increase female representation in gaming.
It has always been there, you were just ignorant of it

That doesn't make it ok for me. Based on other comments from this thread, it definitely sets the tone for the rest of the game so I was right to stop there.

One other thing I forgot to mention in my previous post: It can be tolerable without magic powers if it's somewhat believable like she's not beating up guys twice her twice and is winning due to skill rather than strength. Also she still has to act like a woman. There is nothing more obnoxious than a female character that is written like a man.

With Tomb Raider, you know exactly what you’re getting. I don’t have to dig ten layers deep to see if it’s secretly a political vessel for (a previous wave of) feminism.

You’re acting as if something like Claire Redfield or Anna Navarre or Bastilla Shan, which are fun characters that aren't trying to push an ideology, are the same as the representations of "girlbosses" we’ve seen over the past 10-15 years. But we are at least 5 years beyond the point when reasonable people should have to explain that kind distinction anymore. One reason people come to this forum is to avoid having to explain that obvious nuance to people who refuse to engage thoughtfully, as is common elsewhere online. I’m not going to spell out the obvious to someone I know already understands it.

what's your opinion on Anna Navarre being the bestest agent in the world who don't need no new fancy nanotech augments because she's the bestest due to her natural talents(this is actually part of the story)?

She's such a minor character that I didn't even remember her name so I don't really care. I also don't remember this being stated in the game so it must be a throwaway line or something from outside the game. There's certainly nothing in the game that shows this. Also I thought she was augmented?

no, they needed to install a killswitch because she was jewish, it was only a matter of time before she did a betrayal.

also you went from "the bestest" to "ONE OF THE" bestest pretty quickly there. Guess you remembered Gunther and had to backtrack a bit!
