You have to focus instead of zoning out and just clicking when you hear it going off.
And there should be a cooking system. What's the ******* point of catching dozens of Pentapuses and gathering hundreds of mushrooms if I can't make them into the awesome Pentapus Barbecue that increases the carry capacity by 25? What's the point of killing all these Hoppers and gathering their meat if I can't make a steak out of it?
Tuning up fishing and adding cooking would make this game much more enjoyable than it already is.

The only reason to fish is crafting in biology and chem, otherwise it's not worth the hassle, and low dex characters really get ****** on fishing.

Edit:
In my experience the hardest one to catch is the Ghostface squid. If you get a chance to trade for it, pick it up while you can instead of hunting for it. Otherwise try fishing in strange areas.

A few more pin options. I don't have an Eye variant to share because I couldn't make something I was happy with. All of the options I'm sharing have an orange component to them because that feels right to me. It was chosen for the game's UI and it will be distinct from the other badges.

The first is just the oddity XP system icon from the game UI. The second is the map icon, which I thought might be worth considering since it represents the titular "under rail". I have the last one set on top of the "subway tile" pattern used for the game's title lettering and I stripped out the highlight/outline from earlier iterations of the oddity XP idea.

I like the third option but a little highlight around the amulet would be nice to distinguish it from the background.

The Crawlers are annoying. The worst part about them is that they're a nuisance. It's not like they're as dangerous as Deathclaws or Cazadors from Fallout. Clearing them out feels like a chore.
The name sucks too. It's very generic and forgettable. Literally. I've forgotten what they're called several times when I was writing down notes on the map.

Made a highlighted version of the rat amulet badge to see how it looks.

I like it with the highlight, but I don't think the subway tile background works. It makes the badge hard to parse.Tadeusz wrote: ↑ October 14th, 2025, 16:52Made a highlighted version of the rat amulet badge to see how it looks.

With that highlight it's barely visible, which is fine. It's just there so it isn't on a totally black background, which looks overly stark and too much like a AG Classic badge.Tangerine wrote: ↑ October 14th, 2025, 16:54I like it with the highlight, but I don't think the subway tile background works. I think I slightly prefer the black outline to the orange one, but if other people like this better I think it would be a great choice overall.Tadeusz wrote: ↑ October 14th, 2025, 16:52Made a highlighted version of the rat amulet badge to see how it looks.

I think the rat should be moved up by a couple of pixels. That or scaled up.Tadeusz wrote: ↑ October 14th, 2025, 16:52Made a highlighted version of the rat amulet badge to see how it looks.

The strap is not the most important part, so you can leave a little bit of it off.

Something like this:
Darker outline if you're feeling grimdark:
Darker background:

One pixel up. This badge is hard to get right... Maybe a bluish background like in Expedition title can work even without the highlight. It probably needs to be darkened first though.logincrash wrote: ↑ October 14th, 2025, 18:35I think the rat should be moved up by a couple of pixels.

If you're doing a pistol build, you'll run into a Wyatt Pear in Depot A who has a really nice W&S .44 Magnum. You're probably not going to be able to kill him when you first meet him, since he's immune to stuns and crits, but it's worth going back later to grab it.
One of the better pistols if you aren't crafting. There's also a unique in the warehouse where you need to steal the shields, good luck getting that one though. You CAN do it without stealth, but expect to reload a whole lot.Tangerine wrote: ↑ October 15th, 2025, 02:43If you're doing a pistol build, you'll run into a Wyatt Pear in Depot A who has a really nice W&S .44 Magnum. One thing I don't like about UR is how most special weapons don't compare to crafted or you get them so late that you have something better anyway. Thumper was an excellent weapon though and my shotgun build thrived off of using a double barreled as a side arm to my other shotgun.
Oh, if you're having trouble flushing crawlers and stalkers in caves, try using pesticide grenades. If you happen to be on a map with a door you can also hide behind it for a few turns, open it, and chuck a molotov. The usually congregate right outside once they get wind of you.

Thank God these fuckers aren't immune to flashbangs. Yanking them out of stealth this way is so satisfying.
That's right, you son of a *****, I got you now. Here's a three course 12.7mm meal, courtesy of Psycho-temoral Contraction and Adrenaline Shot.

Bangs are great all the way through the game, unless you drop them on yourself. One thing to remember about gas grenades is that they release their payloads slowly, so you kind of need to plan them in advance when possible. You can usually buy top level HE and frag grenades from Oculus and whichever oligarch you've joined.
Other tips I remember now:
Bullhead is very rare and hard to make, if you can't craft it, keep them for emergencies where you keep dying to stuns. Doesn't apply if you have thick skull.
If you're having trouble with single strong enemies and you have some throwing skill you can try to stun them with crawler poisoned throwing knives.
There's a single tile in the Core City sewers where you can fish for Ghostfaces, otherwise you'll probably have to wait till you reach the Black Sea to get one for Ford's challenge.
You can usually get more for individual gun parts than for the whole gun.
Mercantile will unlock exclusive inventories on some merchants when its high enough.
I already said this, but I'll say it again, do Dude's second quest as soon as you are able to survive it. It unlocks a load of fast travel points.

Also, get a hazmat suit and a gas mask to easily get past all the toxic gas that is in front of the entrance to that fishing spot.

if you're a tanky guy with some minor dip into crafting, you can make yourself a helmet with a shaded visor which makes you immune to blindness.Tweed wrote: ↑ October 15th, 2025, 09:20Bangs are great all the way through the game, unless you drop them on yourself.

One more experiment with the badge. Wanted to try a different color palette since Underrail also uses teal for highlights. Background is a darkened tile from the Expedition logo.

You might not need the blue highlight on the oddity since it'll already contrast against the blue tiles.Tadeusz wrote: ↑ October 15th, 2025, 15:30One more experiment with the badge.
