It's a good video. Admittedly that particular illustration did not help his case but the overall case and the detailed information sounded correct to me and aligns with my own observations.

TLDR: Unreal Engine uses the wrong math to compute light.

This is fundamentally it, and why Reshade can do magic to visuals without sacrificing performance.

The simple explanation is this: your brain automatically recognises what is real, and you cannot trick it. Any attempts will be immediately obvious to your unconscious mind.

This may explain why eye strain and headaches are reported on newer games too...
